The device is designed to give an audible signal when the fan that cools the PC CPU (i.e. the cooler) stops. The signaling device is included in the break of the cooler's power cable, the dimensions of the printed circuit board are 40x32.5 mm (fits in a matchbox). The schematic diagram of the signaling device is shown in fig. one.

Intermediate sound card amplifier. The shape of the current through the cooler

The operation of the device is based on the shape of the current consumed by the cooler (Fig. 2). A voltage proportional to the current through the cooler is removed from the resistor R1, with a pulse amplitude of about 2V. Filter C1R2 suppresses the DC component of the signal so that in the absence of pulses, the transistor VT1 is completely closed. Each current pulse (one turn of the cooler) opens transistor VT1 for a short time, discharging capacitor C2. After the end of the pulse, the transistor closes, the capacitor C2 begins to gradually charge through R4, but during normal operation of the cooler, by the time the next pulse arrives, it has time to charge slightly, a low level is constantly present at input 9 DD1. When the cooler breaks, jams or closes, the current pulses stop coming to the input of the signaling device, the transistor VT1 is constantly closed, and the capacitor C2 is charged (the resistance of the resistor R4 is selected so that the steady voltage at C2 is confidently recognized by the microcircuit as a high level). A high level at input 9 DD1 allows the operation of the generator, assembled on the valves DD1.1-DD1.4 and generating an intermittent sound signal. The sound frequency depends on C4 and R6 (the values \u2b\u3bgiven in the diagram correspond to approximately 5 kHz), the sound interruption frequency - using C9 and R10 (according to the scheme 3-4 Hz). As a sound emitter, you can use a piezoelectric capsule (similar to those used in electronic alarm clocks and telephones). The version of the printed circuit board of the signaling device and the wiring diagram are shown in fig. XNUMX and XNUMX, respectively.

The signaling device is configured in two stages. First, by selecting R1 and C1, it is necessary to achieve a stable opening of the transistor VT1 with positive cooler current pulses. Then, by selecting R4 and C2, the allowable interval between pulses is set, after which the alarm is activated. It is advisable to monitor the voltage waveform across capacitor C2 using an oscilloscope.

Artificial leather for touch emulation 15.04.2024

In a modern technology world where distance is becoming increasingly commonplace, maintaining connection and a sense of closeness is important. Recent developments in artificial skin by German scientists from Saarland University represent a new era in virtual interactions. German researchers from Saarland University have developed ultra-thin films that can transmit the sensation of touch over a distance. This cutting-edge technology provides new opportunities for virtual communication, especially for those who find themselves far from their loved ones. The ultra-thin films developed by the researchers, just 50 micrometers thick, can be integrated into textiles and worn like a second skin. These films act as sensors that recognize tactile signals from mom or dad, and as actuators that transmit these movements to the baby. Parents' touch to the fabric activates sensors that react to pressure and deform the ultra-thin film. This ... >>

Petgugu Global cat litter 15.04.2024

Taking care of pets can often be a challenge, especially when it comes to keeping your home clean. A new interesting solution from the Petgugu Global startup has been presented, which will make life easier for cat owners and help them keep their home perfectly clean and tidy. Startup Petgugu Global has unveiled a unique cat toilet that can automatically flush feces, keeping your home clean and fresh. This innovative device is equipped with various smart sensors that monitor your pet's toilet activity and activate to automatically clean after use. The device connects to the sewer system and ensures efficient waste removal without the need for intervention from the owner. Additionally, the toilet has a large flushable storage capacity, making it ideal for multi-cat households. The Petgugu cat litter bowl is designed for use with water-soluble litters and offers a range of additional ... >>

The attractiveness of caring men 14.04.2024

The stereotype that women prefer "bad boys" has long been widespread. However, recent research conducted by British scientists from Monash University offers a new perspective on this issue. They looked at how women responded to men's emotional responsibility and willingness to help others. The study's findings could change our understanding of what makes men attractive to women. A study conducted by scientists from Monash University leads to new findings about men's attractiveness to women. In the experiment, women were shown photographs of men with brief stories about their behavior in various situations, including their reaction to an encounter with a homeless person. Some of the men ignored the homeless man, while others helped him, such as buying him food. A study found that men who showed empathy and kindness were more attractive to women compared to men who showed empathy and kindness. ... >>

A giant hole has appeared in the ice of Antarctica 09.10.2017

A giant hole appeared in the ice of Antarctica. Scientists say that the size of the polynya reaches 80 kilometers and call it remarkable.

This is a huge polynya, in which pieces of ice are sometimes found. A similar phenomenon was observed in the Weddell Sea in the 70s, but it was not possible to study it in detail.

Such formations can influence climate change on the planet, however, they cannot draw final conclusions in the form of a small study of the object.

Scientists believe that when the sea ice begins to melt, a serious temperature contrast appears between the ocean and the atmosphere. It can start convection, then cold water sinks to the bottom, and warm water, in turn, rises to the surface of the ocean and continues to destroy the ice.
