In this part, we will continue to ride through your brains on the 555 timer, but from a practical point of view, we will consider specific circuits for switching on the microcircuit.

1 schema

Theory and practice of using the 555 timer. Dark detector

This thing starts to work (beep) if for some reason it suddenly becomes dark. That is, the LDR1 photoresistor will no longer receive light or the luminous flux will decrease to a certain critical level.

2 schema

Theory and practice of using the 555 timer. Voltage detector

This circuit is designed to stimulate the auditory nerve if the voltage at the "Control" input drops below 9 volts.

3 schema

Theory and practice of using the 555 timer. Alarm sensor

The simplest type of signaling node. If the sensor S2 closes, the output of the timer will go high and remain high even if the sensor returns to its original state. You can return the low level to the output of the microcircuit by pressing the "Reset" button.

4 schema

Theory and practice of using the 555 timer. Dark detector 1

Similar to Scheme 1, however, you can adjust the frequency of the beeping tone with resistor R2.

5 schema

Theory and practice of using the 555 timer. Metronome

Metronome. It emits a measured tick so that novice musicians do not go astray, well, or sleep well. The tick frequency is adjusted by resistor R1.

6 schema

Theory and practice of using the 555 timer. 10 min. timer

10 minute timer. It is started by pressing the "Reset-Start" button, while the HL2 LED lights up, for example, green. After the time interval has elapsed, the HL1 LED will light up, for example, red. The interval can be adjusted with resistor R4.

7 schema

Theory and practice of using the 555 timer. Schmidt trigger

Schmidt trigger. Useful if you need to get a square wave from a sinusoidal signal, even a distorted and noisy one.

8 schema

Theory and practice of using the 555 timer. Generator

Generator of increased accuracy and stability. The frequency is adjusted by resistor R1. Diodes - any germanium. You can also use Schottky diodes.

9 schema

Theory and practice of using the 555 timer. Missed pulse detector

Missed pulse detector. It can be useful. The transistor can be replaced with a domestic KT3107.

10 schema

Theory and practice of using the 555 timer. Two-tone siren

Dual tone siren. An interesting scheme for experiments with the inclusion of two timers at once.

Machine for thinning flowers in gardens 02.05.2024

In modern agriculture, technological progress is developing aimed at increasing the efficiency of plant care processes. The innovative Florix flower thinning machine was presented in Italy, designed to optimize the harvesting stage. This tool is equipped with mobile arms, allowing it to be easily adapted to the needs of the garden. The operator can adjust the speed of the thin wires by controlling them from the tractor cab using a joystick. This approach significantly increases the efficiency of the flower thinning process, providing the possibility of individual adjustment to the specific conditions of the garden, as well as the variety and type of fruit grown in it. After testing the Florix machine for two years on various types of fruit, the results were very encouraging. Farmers such as Filiberto Montanari, who has used a Florix machine for several years, have reported a significant reduction in the time and labor required to thin flowers. ... >>

Advanced Infrared Microscope 02.05.2024

Microscopes play an important role in scientific research, allowing scientists to delve into structures and processes invisible to the eye. However, various microscopy methods have their limitations, and among them was the limitation of resolution when using the infrared range. But the latest achievements of Japanese researchers from the University of Tokyo open up new prospects for studying the microworld. Scientists from the University of Tokyo have unveiled a new microscope that will revolutionize the capabilities of infrared microscopy. This advanced instrument allows you to see the internal structures of living bacteria with amazing clarity on the nanometer scale. Typically, mid-infrared microscopes are limited by low resolution, but the latest development from Japanese researchers overcomes these limitations. According to scientists, the developed microscope allows creating images with a resolution of up to 120 nanometers, which is 30 times higher than the resolution of traditional microscopes. ... >>

Air trap for insects 01.05.2024

Agriculture is one of the key sectors of the economy, and pest control is an integral part of this process. A team of scientists from the Indian Council of Agricultural Research-Central Potato Research Institute (ICAR-CPRI), Shimla, has come up with an innovative solution to this problem - a wind-powered insect air trap. This device addresses the shortcomings of traditional pest control methods by providing real-time insect population data. The trap is powered entirely by wind energy, making it an environmentally friendly solution that requires no power. Its unique design allows monitoring of both harmful and beneficial insects, providing a complete overview of the population in any agricultural area. “By assessing target pests at the right time, we can take necessary measures to control both pests and diseases,” says Kapil ... >>

Metabolic weight gain switch 04.09.2015

Researchers at MIT and Harvard Medical School have discovered a new way to control human metabolism and tell adipocytes, or fat cells, when to store and when to burn fat.

Scientists have found that it's all about the IRX3 and IRX5 genes, which control the process of thermogenesis, in which fats decompose and heat is produced. Usually, the process of thermogenesis is activated by exercise, diet, or sub-zero temperatures, but in some cases, its activation is very difficult.

Studies show that a single nucleotide genetic difference can lead to obesity or overweight. In individuals at risk, the nucleotide base replaces thymine with cytosine, which triggers the action of IRX3 and IRX5. Those, in turn, turn off the process of thermogenesis, which leads to the accumulation of lipids and, over time, to obesity.

By altering this nucleotide using the CRISPR/Cas9 system, a technology that allows precise changes to the DNA sequence, scientists can replace cytosine with thymine and thus turn off IRX3 and IRX5, restore thermogenesis to a safe level, and reduce lipid accumulation.

Suppressing the actions of the IRX3 gene in mice resulted in significant changes in the body's energy balance, reduction in weight and all major fat stores, and resistance to high-fat diets.
