The task of waking up a sleeping person with the advent of dawn can be solved by assembling the proposed signaling device (see Figure a). It does not require adjustment and it does not need a power source - its role is played by two photodiodes (VD1, VD2) connected in series. The BF1 uses an imported piezoceramic transducer with a built-in oscillator as the sound source.

Device Perpetual alarm clock

Photodiodes, illuminated by direct sunlight, produce an EMF of about 12 V at a load current of 600 μA, which is enough for a very loud operation of the emitter even against the background of street noise. The sensitivity of the photodiodes is enough to work in the presence of light clouds in the sky. By installing this device in the evening on the southeast window and directing the photodiode lenses slightly above the horizon line, you can wake up early in the morning to the mournful peep of the alarm clock.

Many "red" LEDs, when illuminated with bright light, also produce an EMF of about 1,3 ... 1,4 V. The only trouble is that the current that they are able to give to the load is negligible. But among the many LEDs available to the author, there was a record holder, an ultra-bright red LED from the Kingbright company, type L-1513SRC-E. It could be assumed at first that if it shines brightly, then it might work well in valve mode as a miniature solar cell. And so it turned out.

With precise "aiming" at the Sun, this LED, absorbing solar energy, gives 0 9V at a current of 250 μA (Fig. b).

Device Perpetual alarm clock

The sound volume is quieter with it, but you can increase it by turning on in parallel (and pointing exactly at the flaming ball) several LEDs.

Traffic noise delays the growth of chicks 06.05.2024

The sounds that surround us in modern cities are becoming increasingly piercing. However, few people think about how this noise affects the animal world, especially such delicate creatures as chicks that have not yet hatched from their eggs. Recent research is shedding light on this issue, indicating serious consequences for their development and survival. Scientists have found that exposure of zebra diamondback chicks to traffic noise can cause serious disruption to their development. Experiments have shown that noise pollution can significantly delay their hatching, and those chicks that do emerge face a number of health-promoting problems. The researchers also found that the negative effects of noise pollution extend into the adult birds. Reduced chances of reproduction and decreased fertility indicate the long-term effects that traffic noise has on wildlife. The study results highlight the need ... >>

A New Way to Control and Manipulate Optical Signals 05.05.2024

The modern world of science and technology is developing rapidly, and every day new methods and technologies appear that open up new prospects for us in various fields. One such innovation is the development by German scientists of a new way to control optical signals, which could lead to significant progress in the field of photonics. Recent research has allowed German scientists to create a tunable waveplate inside a fused silica waveguide. This method, based on the use of a liquid crystal layer, allows one to effectively change the polarization of light passing through a waveguide. This technological breakthrough opens up new prospects for the development of compact and efficient photonic devices capable of processing large volumes of data. The electro-optical control of polarization provided by the new method could provide the basis for a new class of integrated photonic devices. This opens up great opportunities for ... >>

Table microphone Yamaha Adecia RM-TT 18.04.2021

Yamaha introduced the RM-TT Wired Desktop Microphone. It joins the Adecia family of easy-to-install teleconference collaboration and study solutions: the RM-CR conference processor, the VXL1-16P Dante/PoE compatible speaker, and the SWR2311P-10G PoE network switch.

Wired desktop microphones are connected using a LAN cable and a PoE switch. Scalability allows you to include up to eight microphone units in the system.

The RM-TT's low-profile chassis houses an array of microphones and signal processing, including automatic source tracking (selects the microphone closest to the speaker based on signal strength), automatic gain control, adaptive echo and noise cancellation.

The settings allow you to select the radiation pattern that is optimal for a particular room or usage scenario. Unidirectional, supercardioid, hypercardioid, omnidirectional, bidirectional and toroidal polar patterns are available.
