For prototyping of structures with digital microcircuits, I propose to make a special board from double-sided foil of glass fiber laminate. The board is designed to install a standard 18-pin DIP connector on it.

The upper side of the board (Fig. 1) is working. It is mounted on caps, each of which is connected to its "own" output of the microcircuit (Fig. 2), and four L-shaped foil areas. The pads can be connected to each other at points A - D with a drop of solder, thereby forming power buses of the required length or simply a common wire connecting several external elements. The gaps between the pads are given a special shape, which ensures their low capacitance, which is important when prototyping high-frequency devices.

Microchip development board

Since the board is designed for multiple soldering, it is recommended to preliminarily determine the quality of the fiberglass on a small segment by heating it with a powerful (100 W) soldering iron and quickly cooling it in water. For a good material, after several cycles of heating - cooling, the foil should not peel off.
The drawing is applied and the board is etched by one of the known methods. After etching, the printed conductors on the side of the microcircuit should be stripped and tinned with low-melting solder. Hollow mounting caps are inserted and riveted into holes with a diameter of 2,5 mm, and then a connector is installed under the microcircuit. The connector pins and caps are soldered from the bottom side of the board, after which it is recommended to cover this side with a thick layer of epoxy resin or heat-resistant varnish to prevent accidental short circuits of the conductors.

Prototyping on the finished board is carried out in a certain order: first, external parts are mounted on caps and foil sections, then a microcircuit is inserted into the connector and the supply voltage is applied. At the end of the adjustment, the layout is disassembled in the reverse order.

The board is designed for prototyping devices with a wide variety of microcircuits having from 8 to 18 pins. In addition, two microcircuits with eight pins or a microcircuit and transistors (from KT315 to KT815) can be inserted into the connector.

A similar prototyping board can be made to test devices with microcircuits for a larger number of pins or with other packages.

Traffic noise delays the growth of chicks 06.05.2024

The sounds that surround us in modern cities are becoming increasingly piercing. However, few people think about how this noise affects the animal world, especially such delicate creatures as chicks that have not yet hatched from their eggs. Recent research is shedding light on this issue, indicating serious consequences for their development and survival. Scientists have found that exposure of zebra diamondback chicks to traffic noise can cause serious disruption to their development. Experiments have shown that noise pollution can significantly delay their hatching, and those chicks that do emerge face a number of health-promoting problems. The researchers also found that the negative effects of noise pollution extend into the adult birds. Reduced chances of reproduction and decreased fertility indicate the long-term effects that traffic noise has on wildlife. The study results highlight the need ... >>

A New Way to Control and Manipulate Optical Signals 05.05.2024

The modern world of science and technology is developing rapidly, and every day new methods and technologies appear that open up new prospects for us in various fields. One such innovation is the development by German scientists of a new way to control optical signals, which could lead to significant progress in the field of photonics. Recent research has allowed German scientists to create a tunable waveplate inside a fused silica waveguide. This method, based on the use of a liquid crystal layer, allows one to effectively change the polarization of light passing through a waveguide. This technological breakthrough opens up new prospects for the development of compact and efficient photonic devices capable of processing large volumes of data. The electro-optical control of polarization provided by the new method could provide the basis for a new class of integrated photonic devices. This opens up great opportunities for ... >>

Aluminum film protects against forest fires 20.09.2021

Flexible aluminum sheets are not widely used because they are expensive and difficult to install, however the technology is advancing and becoming more widely available.

Firezat sells rolls of fire protection film that works like a real shield. Each roll costs approximately $700 each. The company says that a building that can be protected with this film will not burn. Unless only the fire will come into direct contact with him.

The wrapper draws heat away from buildings, helping to prevent flammable materials from igniting. It also prevents airborne coals from slipping through vents and other openings in the home. Thanks to the fiberglass backing and acrylic adhesive, the wrappers can withstand temperatures up to 522 degrees Celsius.

Firezat Founding President Dan Hearing said the US Forest Service wrapped 600 to 700 buildings, bridges, communication towers and other structures in national forests this year alone. On Lake Tahoe, they wrapped the Angora Ridge Lookout, a nationally registered historic fire lookout tower.

About a decade ago, the greatest damage from forest fires was the vegetation that caught fire near the houses.

Recent studies have shown that inter-structural fires play a large role, spreading in a domino effect due to the enormous heat that causes industrial materials to ignite.
