According to the Rules of the Road, with the onset of twilight, the driver must turn on the side lights of the car. It seems to be simple, but why be distracted while driving, if this work can be entrusted to automation.

The proposed scheme monitors the level of illumination and, when a predetermined threshold is reached, turns on the "dimensions".

Auto turn on parking lights in a car

Light sensors are photoresistors RF1 and RF2 (two connected in parallel to improve sensitivity), included in the base of the transistor switch VT1. The sensitivity of the node is regulated by a variable resistor R5. As the resistance increases, the sensitivity decreases. When the external illumination is sufficient (it is light outside), the resistance of the photoresistor is small (a few kiloohms), and the transistor VT1 is closed, the DD1 chip is de-energized.

At the onset of darkness, the resistance RF1 increases, and at a certain moment the transistor VT1 opens. Power is supplied to the DD1 microcircuit, the pulse generator is started on the DD1.1 element (DD1.2 - buffer), which controls the transistor switch VT2. The key switches the lamps of "dimensions" (the diagram shows one - HL1). By changing the duty cycle of the generator pulses, the brightness of the lamps is regulated. The duty cycle of the pulses is set by a variable resistor R1 (it is desirable to use the LUT) and is changed so that the power supplied to the load varies from 5 to 95%.

The device uses a K1564TL2 chip, each element of which is an inverter with a Schmitt trigger at the input. The microcircuit contains four elements of the same type. The transfer characteristic of the Schmitt trigger has two different thresholds (on and off), i.e. has hysteresis. The hysteresis voltage Ur for a given microcircuit is proportional to the supply voltage. So, at Un=12 V, Ur=2,4 V. The Schmitt trigger ignores voltage fluctuations within this limit. Therefore, the K1564TL2 microcircuit is convenient for building noise-resistant generators and pulse shapers for various purposes.

The powerful composite transistor KT829A can be replaced with KT829(B...G), KT827(A...V), KT834(A...V), KT894A9. KT897A, KT897B, KT898A, KT898B. Transistor VT1 can be replaced with KT603, KT608, KT601, KT605, KT815 with any letter index. Photoresistors RF1 and RF2 - SFZ-2. Instead, you can use any photoresistors from the SPS-x series. FR764, FR765. All fixed resistors are MLT-0,25. Capacitor C1 - KM-6. Diodes VD1, VD2 can be replaced with KD521B.

Transistor VT2 should be installed on a heat sink with a cooling area of at least 60 cm2. During operation, the transistor usually heats up to a temperature of 40 ... 50 ° C.

The elements are mounted on a breadboard, the outputs are connected by jumpers from the MGTF-0,8 mm wire. The finished device is placed in a suitable box (soap dish), which is mounted under the dashboard and connected to the car's on-board network (12 V) through any compact connector, for example, RP10-5. Adjustment knobs for variable resistors should be available to adjust the sensitivity and change the brightness of the lamps if necessary.

This device can also be used to smoothly adjust the illumination of the car interior or to adjust the brightness of the dashboard backlight.

Artificial leather for touch emulation 15.04.2024

In a modern technology world where distance is becoming increasingly commonplace, maintaining connection and a sense of closeness is important. Recent developments in artificial skin by German scientists from Saarland University represent a new era in virtual interactions. German researchers from Saarland University have developed ultra-thin films that can transmit the sensation of touch over a distance. This cutting-edge technology provides new opportunities for virtual communication, especially for those who find themselves far from their loved ones. The ultra-thin films developed by the researchers, just 50 micrometers thick, can be integrated into textiles and worn like a second skin. These films act as sensors that recognize tactile signals from mom or dad, and as actuators that transmit these movements to the baby. Parents' touch to the fabric activates sensors that react to pressure and deform the ultra-thin film. This ... >>

Petgugu Global cat litter 15.04.2024

Taking care of pets can often be a challenge, especially when it comes to keeping your home clean. A new interesting solution from the Petgugu Global startup has been presented, which will make life easier for cat owners and help them keep their home perfectly clean and tidy. Startup Petgugu Global has unveiled a unique cat toilet that can automatically flush feces, keeping your home clean and fresh. This innovative device is equipped with various smart sensors that monitor your pet's toilet activity and activate to automatically clean after use. The device connects to the sewer system and ensures efficient waste removal without the need for intervention from the owner. Additionally, the toilet has a large flushable storage capacity, making it ideal for multi-cat households. The Petgugu cat litter bowl is designed for use with water-soluble litters and offers a range of additional ... >>

The attractiveness of caring men 14.04.2024

The stereotype that women prefer "bad boys" has long been widespread. However, recent research conducted by British scientists from Monash University offers a new perspective on this issue. They looked at how women responded to men's emotional responsibility and willingness to help others. The study's findings could change our understanding of what makes men attractive to women. A study conducted by scientists from Monash University leads to new findings about men's attractiveness to women. In the experiment, women were shown photographs of men with brief stories about their behavior in various situations, including their reaction to an encounter with a homeless person. Some of the men ignored the homeless man, while others helped him, such as buying him food. A study found that men who showed empathy and kindness were more attractive to women compared to men who showed empathy and kindness. ... >>

Soluble plastic from mango and algae 01.08.2019

As an alternative to the existing plastic, a biosimilar was developed using polymers - pectin and carrageenan.

The construction novelty was developed by a Philippine researcher, biochemist D. Montinola. Building material can be obtained from seaweed and processed mango peel. The specialist wanted to use these plants in production, since they grow in abundance in this country and are among the top ten exports.

The material is environmentally friendly and in many respects better than plastic: it completely dissolves in the aquatic environment, does not decompose into small particles, and does not poison animal organisms. Bioplastics can solve the problem of microplastics that pollute vast areas of the entire planet. As you know, back in 2014, the ocean contained more than 5 trillion particles. They have been found even in areas where man has never lived.

In addition, the novelty has sufficient strength and is able to imitate body movements. It is even possible to create a tissue cover from it to protect the burned area of the skin and stop bleeding. Previously, scientists from the University of Tel Aviv have developed a similar material on the metabolic products of marine animals. For its production, even on a large scale, it does not require fresh water or soil.
