The use of antenna arrays as an active element of the Pistolkors loop vibrator opens up wide opportunities for builders of trunk systems. This is due to a number of interesting features of the design itself. First, by its nature, a loop vibrator is extremely broadband. This allows it to be used without tuning in any of the applied ranges (138-174, 200-230, 300-360 or 400-490 MHz). Secondly, the Pistolkors vibrator is a closed circuit, which is less susceptible to noise of electrical origin. This is very important in industrial areas to ensure noise immunity of equipment.
The next feature is reliable lightning protection of the antenna. Since there is a tension node in the center of the structure, the loop can be attached directly through the metal crossbeam to the mast. The characteristic impedance of the loop dipole lies in the range of 240-300 Ohms and it is not difficult to transform it into 50 Ohms using known methods.
Antenna arrays based on loop dipoles are usually built on the principle of parallel addition of the powers of collinearly located active elements. The Moscow company Radial mastered the production of such antennas two years ago. The structures are loop vibrators combined using signal combiners TK-52 and TK-54, respectively, into 2- or 4-dipole structures.
The active elements are made of a lightweight duralumin tube using argon welding and are protected by a polymer coating from the effects of acidic precipitation and aggressive gases. The kit includes a horizontal traverse and a fastening unit that allows you to tilt the antenna to a pipe or beam with a diameter of 38-65 mm at any angle. Loop dipoles are conveniently mounted on the side of the mast or placed radially around the perimeter of the mast, achieving an even, almost circular radiation pattern. The same mounting principle is the basis for directional antennas of the “wave channel” type, produced by our company.
