The use of a loop saves a lot of time when setting up antennas. They can remotely adjust the length of any antenna element, continuously monitoring its parameters (SWR, radiation pattern). And, what is very important, the loop allows you to tune the antenna at its working height, which is far from always possible for a radio amateur when tuning manually. Using a loop, you can adjust the resonant length of such antennas as a dipole, a long wire, a "square". Delta Loop, etc.

Loop for remote antenna tuning

1-bar (organic glass), 2 - stationery ruler 570 mm long, 3 - guide (textolite, cut M6 thread), 4 - telephone relay contact. 5 - wire MG 1.5, 6-flexible shaft (polyethylene rod from a ballpoint pen), 7-motor (from a children's toy). 8-crocodile clip, 9-screw M4, 10-washer, 11-screw M3, 12-washer, 13-movable bar (organic glass), 14-gasket (wood), 15-nut M3. 16- plank (wood). 17-bandage (rubber). 18-gasket (metal), 19- bearing No. 23 according to GOST 8338-57

The design of the loop is shown in the figure. The electric motor 7 rotates the guide 6 through the flexible shaft 3, which moves the movable bar 13. A closing jumper (when setting up passive elements) or an antenna power cable (when setting up an active element) can be connected to the contacts 4 of the bar. The cable is attached to the antenna wire using alligator clips. The motor is reversed by changing the polarity of the supply voltage.

Rolling bearings 19 can be replaced with plain bearings without deterioration in performance, and the textolite guide can be made of a steel bar with a smaller diameter.

After adjusting the antenna element, the cable is removed and a piece of wire of the required length is soldered instead.

In order to compensate for their mutual influence during tuning of multi-element antennas, it is desirable to use a separate loop for each element. In this case, for example, to tune a widely used tri-band "double square" antenna, six such loops are required.

Artificial leather for touch emulation 15.04.2024

In a modern technology world where distance is becoming increasingly commonplace, maintaining connection and a sense of closeness is important. Recent developments in artificial skin by German scientists from Saarland University represent a new era in virtual interactions. German researchers from Saarland University have developed ultra-thin films that can transmit the sensation of touch over a distance. This cutting-edge technology provides new opportunities for virtual communication, especially for those who find themselves far from their loved ones. The ultra-thin films developed by the researchers, just 50 micrometers thick, can be integrated into textiles and worn like a second skin. These films act as sensors that recognize tactile signals from mom or dad, and as actuators that transmit these movements to the baby. Parents' touch to the fabric activates sensors that react to pressure and deform the ultra-thin film. This ... >>

Petgugu Global cat litter 15.04.2024

Taking care of pets can often be a challenge, especially when it comes to keeping your home clean. A new interesting solution from the Petgugu Global startup has been presented, which will make life easier for cat owners and help them keep their home perfectly clean and tidy. Startup Petgugu Global has unveiled a unique cat toilet that can automatically flush feces, keeping your home clean and fresh. This innovative device is equipped with various smart sensors that monitor your pet's toilet activity and activate to automatically clean after use. The device connects to the sewer system and ensures efficient waste removal without the need for intervention from the owner. Additionally, the toilet has a large flushable storage capacity, making it ideal for multi-cat households. The Petgugu cat litter bowl is designed for use with water-soluble litters and offers a range of additional ... >>

The attractiveness of caring men 14.04.2024

The stereotype that women prefer "bad boys" has long been widespread. However, recent research conducted by British scientists from Monash University offers a new perspective on this issue. They looked at how women responded to men's emotional responsibility and willingness to help others. The study's findings could change our understanding of what makes men attractive to women. A study conducted by scientists from Monash University leads to new findings about men's attractiveness to women. In the experiment, women were shown photographs of men with brief stories about their behavior in various situations, including their reaction to an encounter with a homeless person. Some of the men ignored the homeless man, while others helped him, such as buying him food. A study found that men who showed empathy and kindness were more attractive to women compared to men who showed empathy and kindness. ... >>

Counterfeit alcohol detector 27.09.2017

English scientists have developed an apparatus that is able to recognize the fakeness of alcohol. The novelty was called SORS. The device is able to detect fake alcohol or not through a closed container.

SORS was invented by scientists at the University of Manchester. The device works on the principle of Ramon spectroscopy. The laser beam penetrates the substance under study and analyzes the changes in the radiation frequency that occur due to the inelastic scattering of light in the molecules. Photons begin to interact very weakly with alcohol atoms. As a result, energy is either lost or gained. The device separates these particles from each other, then their spectrum is studied.

The experiment was carried out on 150 brands of various types of alcoholic beverages and on 40 types of counterfeit ones. During the study, all drinks were sealed in bottles.

During testing, the device was able to identify fake alcohol from the original one, as well as evaluate the alcohol content in it.
