In some power sources for telephones with caller ID, there is one drawback - when the battery is discharged, it does not turn off. In this case, the normal operation of the power supply stabilizer is impossible due to the low voltage at its input. The phone turns on and off periodically, which can lead to undesirable consequences. A very simple power source is proposed, devoid of this disadvantage, namely, when the voltage on the battery drops below 6.5 (the minimum voltage at which the stabilizer is operational), it turns off. The diagram of the device is shown in the figure.

AON power supply, AON power supply circuit diagram

When the power supply is connected to the network, relay K1 is activated, which is the battery discharge sensor (the hysteresis of the relay is used). A charging current of 2 ... 5 mA flows through the resistor R10. When the mains voltage fails, the VD2 diode opens and the power comes from the GB1 battery. If the voltage on it drops below 6.5 V, the relay will release and contacts K1.1 will disconnect the battery.

The storage battery consists of six D-0.55 cells connected in series. A fully charged battery will keep your phone running for up to an hour, which is sufficient during brief power outages.

The relay is used brand RES-64A (passport RS4.569.724).

Establishing the device is reduced to the selection of the resistor R1, which sets the release voltage of the relay K1, and the selection of the resistor R2 - they set the charging current of the battery GB1.

To keep the GB1 battery in a charged state, a current of about 200 μA is sufficient. The specified current of 5...10 mA can cause the battery to overcharge.

Artificial leather for touch emulation 15.04.2024

In a modern technology world where distance is becoming increasingly commonplace, maintaining connection and a sense of closeness is important. Recent developments in artificial skin by German scientists from Saarland University represent a new era in virtual interactions. German researchers from Saarland University have developed ultra-thin films that can transmit the sensation of touch over a distance. This cutting-edge technology provides new opportunities for virtual communication, especially for those who find themselves far from their loved ones. The ultra-thin films developed by the researchers, just 50 micrometers thick, can be integrated into textiles and worn like a second skin. These films act as sensors that recognize tactile signals from mom or dad, and as actuators that transmit these movements to the baby. Parents' touch to the fabric activates sensors that react to pressure and deform the ultra-thin film. This ... >>

Petgugu Global cat litter 15.04.2024

Taking care of pets can often be a challenge, especially when it comes to keeping your home clean. A new interesting solution from the Petgugu Global startup has been presented, which will make life easier for cat owners and help them keep their home perfectly clean and tidy. Startup Petgugu Global has unveiled a unique cat toilet that can automatically flush feces, keeping your home clean and fresh. This innovative device is equipped with various smart sensors that monitor your pet's toilet activity and activate to automatically clean after use. The device connects to the sewer system and ensures efficient waste removal without the need for intervention from the owner. Additionally, the toilet has a large flushable storage capacity, making it ideal for multi-cat households. The Petgugu cat litter bowl is designed for use with water-soluble litters and offers a range of additional ... >>

The attractiveness of caring men 14.04.2024

The stereotype that women prefer "bad boys" has long been widespread. However, recent research conducted by British scientists from Monash University offers a new perspective on this issue. They looked at how women responded to men's emotional responsibility and willingness to help others. The study's findings could change our understanding of what makes men attractive to women. A study conducted by scientists from Monash University leads to new findings about men's attractiveness to women. In the experiment, women were shown photographs of men with brief stories about their behavior in various situations, including their reaction to an encounter with a homeless person. Some of the men ignored the homeless man, while others helped him, such as buying him food. A study found that men who showed empathy and kindness were more attractive to women compared to men who showed empathy and kindness. ... >>

DC/DC Converters OPTIREG Switcher TLS412xD0x 21.12.2020

Infineon has introduced a new family of pin-to-pin DC/DC buck converters, the OPTIREG Switcher TLS412xD0x. Designed for automotive applications, these converters are compact and require only five additional piping components. With an input voltage of 3,7 to 35 V, the converters are capable of delivering 3 to 10 V at the output at a current of 2 or 2,5 A.

The TLS412xD0x are highly efficient (up to 94%) and EMC-optimized specifically for sensitive automotive applications such as ADAS, communication systems, dashboards, multimedia and more. In addition to the converters themselves, Infineon also offers customers evaluation boards based on them, which simplify the process of connecting and prototyping.

Features:

Wide input voltage range (3,7…40 V);
Pin-to-pin compatible, output current 2 and 2,5 A;
Compact dimensions, only five additional strapping components;
Low standby current consumption: 31 uA;
Flexible choice of switching frequency, possibility of synchronization;
Overvoltage and undervoltage control function;
Choice of PWM with spread spectrum.

Areas of use:

ADAS, fixation cameras;
Communication systems, car multimedia systems;
Dashboards, lighting systems.
