So called chemical ink pencils are prepared from a mixture of graphite, clay, aniline paints and binders. Usually pencils are prepared in purple, so methyl violet aniline dye is used. The binder is clay, gum arabic, shellac, etc.

Depending on the amount of binder, pencils of different hardness are obtained. So, to get soft pencils, take 4 wt. hours of graphite, 1,5 wt. including kaolin and 5 wt. hours of coloring matter. For medium hardness - 3 wt. hours of graphite, 2-4 wt. including kaolin and 3 wt. hours of paint. For hard - 2,5 wt. hours of graphite, 5 wt. including kaolin and 2,5 wt. hours of paint.

All substances are finely ground, moistened with small amounts of water until a thick dough is formed, which is molded in the form of sticks. After drying, they are sent to the tree.

According to the following method, a Bakelite solution is used as a binder. The mass production method is as follows.

An alkaline solution of the initial condensation product of formaldehyde with phenols is mixed with finely worn graphite, filling and coloring substances of the pencil mass, the mixture is heated and molded in the usual way. In the case of using dyes that cannot withstand contact with alkalis (for example, rosaniline, crystal violet, etc.), the bakelite compound is dissolved in alcohol.

Two recipes:

For blue pencil

  • Graphite 25 g;
  • Talc, clay and other 20 g;
  • Soot 5 g;
  • Bakelite 1% alkaline solution 30 g;
  • 20% diamine blue dye solution XNUMX g.

For purple aniline pencil

  • Graphite and other filling substances 50 g;
  • 1% -5% alcohol solution of bakelite 20-40 g;
  • Alcoholic solution of methyl violet (from 1 to 3%) 10-20 g.

Artificial leather for touch emulation 15.04.2024

In a modern technology world where distance is becoming increasingly commonplace, maintaining connection and a sense of closeness is important. Recent developments in artificial skin by German scientists from Saarland University represent a new era in virtual interactions. German researchers from Saarland University have developed ultra-thin films that can transmit the sensation of touch over a distance. This cutting-edge technology provides new opportunities for virtual communication, especially for those who find themselves far from their loved ones. The ultra-thin films developed by the researchers, just 50 micrometers thick, can be integrated into textiles and worn like a second skin. These films act as sensors that recognize tactile signals from mom or dad, and as actuators that transmit these movements to the baby. Parents' touch to the fabric activates sensors that react to pressure and deform the ultra-thin film. This ... >>

Petgugu Global cat litter 15.04.2024

Taking care of pets can often be a challenge, especially when it comes to keeping your home clean. The device connects to the sewer system and ensures efficient waste removal without the need for intervention from the owner. Additionally, the toilet has a large flushable storage capacity, making it ideal for multi-cat households. The Petgugu cat litter bowl is designed for use with water-soluble litters and offers a range of additional ... >>

The attractiveness of caring men 14.04.2024

The stereotype that women prefer "bad boys" has long been widespread. However, recent research conducted by British scientists from Monash University offers a new perspective on this issue. They looked at how women responded to men's emotional responsibility and willingness to help others. The study's findings could change our understanding of what makes men attractive to women. A study conducted by scientists from Monash University leads to new findings about men's attractiveness to women. In the experiment, women were shown photographs of men with brief stories about their behavior in various situations, including their reaction to an encounter with a homeless person. Some of the men ignored the homeless man, while others helped him, such as buying him food. A study found that men who showed empathy and kindness were more attractive to women compared to men who showed empathy and kindness. ... >>

Life could have originated on Titan 12.02.2011

Saturn's largest moon, Titan, has a dense atmosphere composed mostly of nitrogen with a dash of methane.

At the Central School of Engineering in France, an international team of researchers irradiated the same mixture of gases with microwaves, simulating the constant bombardment of Titan's upper atmosphere by ultraviolet rays from the Sun and charged particles flying from the sun and deflected towards Titan by Saturn's magnetic field. After some time, rather complex organic molecules were found in a steel vessel containing a mixture of gases - the nucleotides cytosine, adenine, thymine, guanine and uracil, which are part of DNA and RNA.

In addition, simple amino acids - glycine and alanine, which are part of proteins, were spontaneously synthesized. A haze of unknown composition floats in the upper atmosphere of Titan, making it impossible to see the surface of the satellite.

It is possible that over millions of years of evolution in this thickness of aerosols, not only molecules were formed that are part of all living things on Earth, but also some microscopic organisms. In any case, the existence of life is excluded on the surface of Saturn's moon: the temperature there is about minus 180 degrees Celsius.
