Have been widely used enamel paints, which differ from ordinary paints grated in oil or drying oil in that they are prepared on special varnishes.

These varnishes can be prepared as follows.

Dissolve 10 kg of dammar in 3 kg of turpentine by heating at 150 °C. When dammar dissolves, cool and add another 10 kg of turpentine. To a completely cooled dammar solution (at 20 ° C), add 9 kg of condensed linseed oil (bleached linseed oil is thickened by heating at 300-320 ° C to the density of lithographic drying oil), mix thoroughly and add another 3 kg of turpentine and 800 g of cobalt desiccant. Mix and let stand.

Enamel paint is prepared on this varnish in the usual way (that is, in the same way as oil paint). After grinding, the paint is kept for 10-15 days. If the paint turns out to be too thick, it is diluted with varnish.

Alcohol enamel paints

These paints (or, rather, varnishes) are obtained by rubbing an alcohol varnish with some finely ground mineral paint. Alcohol-enamel paint dries quickly and gives a hard layer. Prepare both glossy and matte paints. Shellac, sandarac, copal and acaroid are used as varnishes. Mineral paints must be of good quality. Red lead and white lead: should not be used, as the paint hardens quickly in tins and becomes unusable.

The preparation of paints is carried out as follows: the paint with a part of the varnish is kneaded in a special paint grater or a small tub and then the appropriate amount of alcohol is added.

Artificial leather for touch emulation 15.04.2024

In a modern technology world where distance is becoming increasingly commonplace, maintaining connection and a sense of closeness is important. Recent developments in artificial skin by German scientists from Saarland University represent a new era in virtual interactions. German researchers from Saarland University have developed ultra-thin films that can transmit the sensation of touch over a distance. This cutting-edge technology provides new opportunities for virtual communication, especially for those who find themselves far from their loved ones. The ultra-thin films developed by the researchers, just 50 micrometers thick, can be integrated into textiles and worn like a second skin. These films act as sensors that recognize tactile signals from mom or dad, and as actuators that transmit these movements to the baby. Parents' touch to the fabric activates sensors that react to pressure and deform the ultra-thin film. This ... >>

The Petgugu cat litter bowl is designed for use with water-soluble litters and offers a range of additional ... >>

The attractiveness of caring men 14.04.2024

The stereotype that women prefer "bad boys" has long been widespread. However, recent research conducted by British scientists from Monash University offers a new perspective on this issue. They looked at how women responded to men's emotional responsibility and willingness to help others. The study's findings could change our understanding of what makes men attractive to women. A study conducted by scientists from Monash University leads to new findings about men's attractiveness to women. In the experiment, women were shown photographs of men with brief stories about their behavior in various situations, including their reaction to an encounter with a homeless person. Some of the men ignored the homeless man, while others helped him, such as buying him food. A study found that men who showed empathy and kindness were more attractive to women compared to men who showed empathy and kindness. ... >>

The service life of metal parts operating under heavy loads can be significantly extended by applying a new temperature treatment proposed by the American crystallographer Robert Brunson.

First, a part, such as aircraft turbine blades, is immersed in a cooling medium - from minus 110 to minus 200 degrees Celsius, depending on the composition of the alloy. Then the metal, which received a cold shock, is heated to 80-200 degrees Celsius. This procedure rearranges the molecular structure of the metal.

Products processed according to the new technology not only become more durable, but also acquire a special resistance against cracking. For example, experiments have shown that the service life of brake pads operating on the wheels of jet aircraft has doubled. Titanium borehole bits reach twice the depths of conventional drill bits before they wear out.
