How to cook waterproof glue?

To prepare a glue that is not afraid of dampness, you can use freshly curdled milk or cottage cheese, which is mixed with slaked lime to obtain a homogeneous thick mass, which is applied in a thin, even layer on the wooden surfaces to be glued, which are then strongly compressed and dried.

Another way: 100 g of good carpentry glue is boiled in a glass of water until molasses thickens and then 35 g of drying oil is dissolved in it. Use this glue in a heated state. Parts of the tree glued with this glue are not afraid of either cold or hot water and become completely impenetrable from it. With regard to the preparation of liquid wood glue, the following is considered the best way: 10 parts by weight of the best wood glue are boiled in the usual way and, when it has completely blossomed, 1 part by weight of hydrochloric acid and 1,5 parts of zinc sulfate are added to it. Then the whole mixture is kept warm (at 60-70 ° C) for half a day, after which the glue remains liquid even after cooling and perfectly glues not only wooden parts, but also glass, porcelain, metals, etc.

If such glue stands in the cold for a very long time and hardens, then it is enough to lower it with a vessel into warm water for a few minutes so that it becomes liquid again.

Artificial leather for touch emulation 15.04.2024

In a modern technology world where distance is becoming increasingly commonplace, maintaining connection and a sense of closeness is important. Recent developments in artificial skin by German scientists from Saarland University represent a new era in virtual interactions. German researchers from Saarland University have developed ultra-thin films that can transmit the sensation of touch over a distance. This cutting-edge technology provides new opportunities for virtual communication, especially for those who find themselves far from their loved ones. The ultra-thin films developed by the researchers, just 50 micrometers thick, can be integrated into textiles and worn like a second skin. These films act as sensors that recognize tactile signals from mom or dad, and as actuators that transmit these movements to the baby. Parents' touch to the fabric activates sensors that react to pressure and deform the ultra-thin film. This ... >>

The attractiveness of caring men 14.04.2024

The stereotype that women prefer "bad boys" has long been widespread. However, recent research conducted by British scientists from Monash University offers a new perspective on this issue. They looked at how women responded to men's emotional responsibility and willingness to help others. The study's findings could change our understanding of what makes men attractive to women. A study conducted by scientists from Monash University leads to new findings about men's attractiveness to women. In the experiment, women were shown photographs of men with brief stories about their behavior in various situations, including their reaction to an encounter with a homeless person. Some of the men ignored the homeless man, while others helped him, such as buying him food. A study found that men who showed empathy and kindness were more attractive to women compared to men who showed empathy and kindness. ... >>

Gorilla takes a stick 10.03.2006

Until now, gorillas have been the only great apes that have never been seen using tools.

Unlike, for example, a chimpanzee, a gorilla is so strong that it does not need tools: it smashes termite mounds with a punch, and cracks hard nuts with its teeth.

German zoologists first observed a gorilla in one of the national parks of the Congo, which, in order to cross a swampy river, took a stick and began to probe the bottom with it, measuring the depth. Then, leaning on the same stick, the monkey successfully crossed to the other side.
