Brown staining of zinc achieved by repeated lubrication with 4 parts of copper acetate (verdigris) in 11 parts of vinegar. If zinc products are first lubricated with a solution consisting of 1 part of copper sulfate and 1 part of iron sulfate in 20 parts of water, and then after drying with a solution of 4 parts of copper acetate in 11 parts of vinegar and after the operation is polished with crocus, then the surface of things takes on a very beautiful dark -bronze color.

Lubricating zinc things several times with a weak aqueous solution of copper chloride or dichloride and then heating and rubbing them with a brush, the darker the color is obtained, the stronger the solution was used and the more times the lubrication was repeated. After repeated application of the grease, the brown color changes to almost black.

If as much ammonia is added to a solution of copper chloride as necessary so that the precipitate formed at first dissolves again, then from repeated lubrication with such a solution, things turn copper-red. By adding a little vinegar to this solution, they give the color a yellow-brown tint.

A very beautiful brown color is given by a solution of 15 parts of chromic alum and 15 parts of sodium sulphate (hyposulfite) in 500 parts of boiling water; after cooling, 25 parts of sulfuric acid are added to the solution. Then it is filtered and heated to a boil, and then things are immersed in it and kept in it, stirring until they take on the desired shade.

Small zinc items can be dyed brown-bronze by immersing them in a weak solution of copper sulphate, acidified with vinegar. After immersion, things are dried in the air and the immersion is repeated (drying each time) until the dyeing gives the desired shade. The weaker the copper solution, the more often you have to repeat the immersion and the more beautiful and stronger the color.

Air trap for insects 01.05.2024

Agriculture is one of the key sectors of the economy, and pest control is an integral part of this process. A team of scientists from the Indian Council of Agricultural Research-Central Potato Research Institute (ICAR-CPRI), Shimla, has come up with an innovative solution to this problem - a wind-powered insect air trap. This device addresses the shortcomings of traditional pest control methods by providing real-time insect population data. The trap is powered entirely by wind energy, making it an environmentally friendly solution that requires no power. Its unique design allows monitoring of both harmful and beneficial insects, providing a complete overview of the population in any agricultural area. “By assessing target pests at the right time, we can take necessary measures to control both pests and diseases,” says Kapil ... >>

The threat of space debris to the Earth's magnetic field 01.05.2024

More and more often we hear about an increase in the amount of space debris surrounding our planet. However, it is not only active satellites and spacecraft that contribute to this problem, but also debris from old missions. The growing number of satellites launched by companies like SpaceX creates not only opportunities for the development of the Internet, but also serious threats to space security. Experts are now turning their attention to the potential implications for the Earth's magnetic field. Dr. Jonathan McDowell of the Harvard-Smithsonian Center for Astrophysics emphasizes that companies are rapidly deploying satellite constellations, and the number of satellites could grow to 100 in the next decade. The rapid development of these cosmic armadas of satellites can lead to contamination of the Earth's plasma environment with dangerous debris and a threat to the stability of the magnetosphere. Metal debris from used rockets can disrupt the ionosphere and magnetosphere. Both of these systems play a key role in protecting the atmosphere and maintaining ... >>

Solidification of bulk substances 30.04.2024

There are quite a few mysteries in the world of science, and one of them is the strange behavior of bulk materials. They may behave like a solid but suddenly turn into a flowing liquid. This phenomenon has attracted the attention of many researchers, and we may finally be getting closer to solving this mystery. Imagine sand in an hourglass. It usually flows freely, but in some cases its particles begin to get stuck, turning from a liquid to a solid. This transition has important implications for many areas, from drug production to construction. Researchers from the USA have attempted to describe this phenomenon and come closer to understanding it. In the study, the scientists conducted simulations in the laboratory using data from bags of polystyrene beads. They found that the vibrations within these sets had specific frequencies, meaning that only certain types of vibrations could travel through the material. Received ... >>

MIPI CSI-2 specification v1.3 19.02.2015

Industry organization MIPI Alliance has released a new version of the Camera Serial Interface (CSI) specification. The CSI-2 v1.3 specification adds the ability to work over one of two physical layer interfaces: D-PHY or C-PHY.

Previously, CSI-2 used the D-PHY physical layer interface. The C-PHY v1.0 physical layer interface specification was adopted by the MIPI Alliance last September. CSI-2-enabled products can use either physical layer interface or both.

The MIPI C-PHY interface uses three-phase character encoding and transmission over three-wire lines ("trios"). The synchronization signal is integrated into the data so that the transmission of one symbol corresponds to the transmission of approximately 2,28 bits. Compared to D-PHY, longer link lengths and higher speeds are possible. The throughput of MIPI CSI-2 v1.3 with C-PHY reaches 22,7 Gb / s over four lines or 2,5 billion symbols per second. This allows you to increase the resolution, color depth, frame rate with pin compatibility with MIPI D-PHY. As a result, all popular video formats, including 4K at 30 fps and 12 bits per pixel color depth, can be transmitted over a single MIPI C-PHY line.

For comparison: in the case of CSI-2 D-PHY v1.2, the peak throughput is 2,5 Gb / s on one line or 10 Gb / s on four. Two lines are required to transmit 4K video at 30 fps and 12-bit color depth.
