In the manufacture of parts in various circles of technical creativity, it often becomes necessary to perform work with end and end mills. In this case, desktop horizontal milling machines will not always be able to help out.

But such operations, if we apply the device we offer, can be performed on conventional screw-cutting lathes TV-4. It is very simple in design, and at the same time, its use significantly expands the functionality of the machine.

The main part of the fixture is a bracket mounted on the transverse support of the machine instead of the removed carriage. The latter (pos. 2 in figure 1) is located vertically, for which it is attached with two bolts to the front wall of the bracket; the holder is then removed. The faceplate 3 with clamps 4 from the set of the TV-4 machine is fixed on the axis of the tool holder with a nut. The workpiece is clamped with clamps as usual.

The bracket is welded from 6...8 mm thick sheet steel and fastened to the caliper with two screws and M8 nuts through a Ø 8,5 mm hole in the base. A special threaded washer is used for centering.

The cutter (end or face) is mounted either directly in the spindle's tapered bore or in a lathe's three-jaw self-centering chuck, although drill chucks can also be used. It should be noted that the standard protective screen completely covers the cutting zone during operation.

To make it easier to control the movement of the cutter, a sketch tablet and a tracking pointer are included in the fixture kit; their device is clear from the figure.

Using the proposed equipment on the TV-4 lathe, you can perform the following operations: milling planes, selecting grooves and grooves (including shaped ones), processing parts along the contour. Due to the movement of the caliper and the carriage along three coordinates, in addition to turning the bracket in the horizontal plane, and the carriage in the vertical plane, it is possible to process any surfaces.

This device is successfully used in training workshops at the Department of Methods of Labor Training of the Chernihiv Pedagogical Institute.

Major risk factor for gambling addiction 07.05.2024

Computer games are becoming an increasingly popular form of entertainment among teenagers, but the associated risk of gaming addiction remains a significant problem. American scientists conducted a study to determine the main factors contributing to this addiction and offer recommendations for its prevention. Over the course of six years, 385 teenagers were followed to find out what factors may predispose them to gambling addiction. The results showed that 90% of study participants were not at risk of addiction, while 10% became gambling addicts. It turned out that the key factor in the onset of gambling addiction is a low level of prosocial behavior. Teenagers with a low level of prosocial behavior do not show interest in the help and support of others, which can lead to a loss of contact with the real world and a deepening dependence on virtual reality offered by computer games. However, few people think about how this noise affects the animal world, especially such delicate creatures as chicks that have not yet hatched from their eggs. Recent research is shedding light on this issue, indicating serious consequences for their development and survival. Scientists have found that exposure of zebra diamondback chicks to traffic noise can cause serious disruption to their development. Experiments have shown that noise pollution can significantly delay their hatching, and those chicks that do emerge face a number of health-promoting problems. Russia creates Noah's Ark 29.12.2014

In the scientific and technological valley of the Lomonosov Moscow State University, it is planned to create a large-scale bank of biomaterials. This is reported by TASS, referring to the statements of the rector of the university Viktor Sadovnichy.

The project was called "Noah's Ark". It involves the formation of a cryogenic storage of cellular material, which in the future can be reproduced. The complex will include modern computer platforms for the accumulation and analysis of information. A special system will connect the new biomaterials bank with other scientific sites both in Russia and abroad.

"I call this project Noah's Ark. It involves the creation of a depository - a databank of all life on Earth. If this project is implemented, it will be a breakthrough in the history of Russia," said Mr. Sadovnichy.

The cost of creating a bank of biomaterials is estimated at 1 billion rubles. It is planned to include cellular material of endangered species and those that are not yet threatened.

The scientific and technological valley at Moscow State University named after M.V. Lomonosov can be built by 2018. It will occupy almost 430 thousand m2.
