The functions of a boring machine can also be successfully performed by a milling machine. Of course, according to a lower accuracy class, but for many works this is not so significant. For such a transformation, we recommend that you use the universal boring head developed at the Valuyskaya station by young technicians: it impresses with its manufacturability and simplicity.

The device consists of the following elements: a conical shank, a hub and a quill. The hub is mounted on the shank with four screws, two of which clamp the quill in parallel. The cutter is fixed in a slider moving along two cylindrical guides located inside the quill. Moving the slider - with the help of a lead screw.

Works boring head as follows. The tail part is inserted into the spindle of the milling machine and fixed with a regular tightening screw. The workpiece is fixed in a vice or on the machine table. When boring holes with a diameter of up to 40 mm, the position of the cutter relative to the center of the hole is only adjusted. due to the extension of the slider. Boring of holes with a diameter of up to 85 mm is carried out in two stages. First - as described above, then the slider should be moved to its original position, loosen the clamping screws and move the quill until it stops in the hub.

Hole diameter control - according to the scale printed on the end surface of the sleeve (pos. 5). The fixture kit also includes a handle for the lead screw and clamping screws.

American scientists conducted a study to determine the main factors contributing to this addiction and offer recommendations for its prevention. Over the course of six years, 385 teenagers were followed to find out what factors may predispose them to gambling addiction. The results showed that 90% of study participants were not at risk of addiction, while 10% became gambling addicts. In many design bureaus, drawing boards have been replaced by computer monitors, and design engineers do not draw, but combine their designs from ready-made drawings of individual assemblies and parts stored in the computer's memory.

Computer-aided design greatly speeds up and simplifies the work of an engineer, but, as an experiment conducted at the Technical University of Dresden (Germany) showed, in the early stages of design, work in the old fashioned way, with whatman paper, pencil and drawing pen, is preferable. 66 students, future engineers who can work with computer programs for design, were asked to design a barbecue grill.

At the same time, 22 students were given only paper and preparations, another 22 had to draw their own sketches on a computer tablet using an electronic pencil, and a third group was armed with computers with the latest automatic design software. The results of the first two groups not only surpassed the successes of computer designers, but also appeared much faster. And "handmade" sketches were easier to read.

According to the psychologists who conducted the experiment, a pencil is much easier to use than a computer with its complex system of commands and menus. The mental effort goes mostly to getting the program right, not to finding elegant engineering solutions. In the future, when concretizing the idea, it is better to use a computer.
