After converting to kilometers and dividing by 1000, the formula becomes

that is, the distance in kilometers to a person is equal to one divided by the number of millimeters counted along the ruler on an outstretched arm (at a distance of 60 cm).

Measuring distances by the angular magnitude of objects using improvised devices practically does not depend on the terrain, lighting and coloring of objects. The errors of such measurements are more constant and after training and acquiring the appropriate skill should not exceed 10%.
