Tepari (short-leaved beans)

Synonyms: Ph. tenuifolius Woot I Stand.

Name: fr. tepary.

The plant is an annual, with thin branching stems, lying or climbing, 0,5-2 m in height. Leaves with thick petioles and blades, leathery.

Inflorescences in the form of a brush, few-flowered, on short peduncles; pedicels densely pubescent, equal in length to the calyx; flowers are paired, but often one of them is underdeveloped. The corolla is several times longer than the calyx.

The beans are coarse, with a thick parchment layer, and crack easily. Seeds 7-10 mm long, flat-elliptical, of various colors.

It grows wild in copses and shrubs in Northern Mexico, New Mexico and Arizona. Drought tolerant beans.

Seeds have a specific taste and are inferior to common beans in terms of fat and protein content in terms of protein and oil content; are used in food similarly to the seeds of other beans.

The value of tepari is in its greater drought resistance compared to ordinary beans. Also used as green pet food.

The tepari culture technique is no different from the common bean culture technique. Freeman recommends row spacing of 90 cm and row spacing of 15 cm; seeding depth. 10 cm.

In the United States, square-nest sowing is practiced: the distance between the nests is 45 cm, in each nest there are 2-4 seeds.

Ethnoscience:

  • Treatment of diabetes: tepari can help lower blood sugar levels and improve glucose uptake. To prepare an infusion of tepari, take 2 tablespoons of crushed seeds and pour 1 liter of boiling water over it. Infuse for 30 minutes, then strain and take 1 glass 2-3 times a day before meals.
  • Treatment of kidney diseases: tepari may help improve kidney function and reduce the risk of developing kidney disease. To do this, grind fresh tepari leaves and pour boiling water, leave for 30 minutes, then strain and take 1 cup 2-3 times a day.
  • Anemia treatment: tepari contains a high amount of iron, which can help increase blood hemoglobin levels. To prepare an infusion of tepari, take 2 tablespoons of crushed seeds and pour 1 liter of boiling water over it. Infuse for 30 minutes, then strain and take 1 glass 2-3 times a day before meals.
  • Treatment of skin diseases: tepari can be used to treat various skin conditions such as eczema and psoriasis. To do this, grind fresh tepari leaves and apply to the affected areas of the skin, leave for 30 minutes, then rinse with warm water.

Cosmetology:

Tepari is not used in cosmetology.

Attention! Before use, consult with a specialist!

cultivated and wild plants. Legends, myths, symbolism, description, cultivation, methods of application

Tepari (Phaseolus acutifolius) is a type of bean native to Mexico and the United States.

Tips for growing, harvesting and storing tepari:

Cultivation:

  • Tepari prefers a warm climate and fertile soils with good drainage. Plants can be grown from seeds.
  • Plant the seeds in the ground at a depth of 2-3 cm and at a distance of 20-30 cm from each other in spring or summer.
  • Tepari needs regular watering and fertilizing during growth and flowering periods.

Workpiece:

  • Harvest the tepari pods when they reach maturity (usually 70-90 days after sowing).
  • The pods are small and can be spiky, so gloves should be worn before picking.
  • Separate the grains from the pods and use them for cooking.

Storage:

  • Fresh tepari pods are best used as quickly as possible after picking, as they spoil quickly.
  • If you want to keep the tepari pods longer, you can freeze them for several months.
  • Tepari grains can be dried and stored in a cool, dry place throughout the year.

Energy from space for Starship 08.05.2024

Producing solar energy in space is becoming more feasible with the advent of new technologies and the development of space programs. The head of the startup Virtus Solis shared his vision of using SpaceX's Starship to create orbital power plants capable of powering the Earth. Startup Virtus Solis has unveiled an ambitious project to create orbital power plants using SpaceX's Starship. This idea could significantly change the field of solar energy production, making it more accessible and cheaper. The core of the startup's plan is to reduce the cost of launching satellites into space using Starship. This technological breakthrough is expected to make solar energy production in space more competitive with traditional energy sources. Virtual Solis plans to build large photovoltaic panels in orbit, using Starship to deliver the necessary equipment. However, one of the key challenges ... >>

New method for creating powerful batteries 08.05.2024

With the development of technology and the expanding use of electronics, the issue of creating efficient and safe energy sources is becoming increasingly urgent. Researchers at the University of Queensland have unveiled a new approach to creating high-power zinc-based batteries that could change the landscape of the energy industry. One of the main problems with traditional water-based rechargeable batteries was their low voltage, which limited their use in modern devices. But thanks to a new method developed by scientists, this drawback has been successfully overcome. As part of their research, scientists turned to a special organic compound - catechol. It turned out to be an important component that can improve battery stability and increase its efficiency. This approach has led to a significant increase in the voltage of zinc-ion batteries, making them more competitive. According to scientists, such batteries have several advantages. They have b ... >>

Alcohol content of warm beer 07.05.2024

Beer, as one of the most common alcoholic drinks, has its own unique taste, which can change depending on the temperature of consumption. A new study by an international team of scientists has found that beer temperature has a significant impact on the perception of alcoholic taste. The study, led by materials scientist Lei Jiang, found that at different temperatures, ethanol and water molecules form different types of clusters, which affects the perception of alcoholic taste. At low temperatures, more pyramid-like clusters form, which reduces the pungency of the "ethanol" taste and makes the drink taste less alcoholic. On the contrary, as the temperature increases, the clusters become more chain-like, resulting in a more pronounced alcoholic taste. This explains why the taste of some alcoholic drinks, such as baijiu, can change depending on temperature. The data obtained opens up new prospects for beverage manufacturers, ... >>

Bridge made of water in an electric field 04.02.2008

Researchers from the Graz University of Technology (Austria) have discovered an unusual property of water: in a strong electric field, a water bridge forms between two glasses of water.

The Austrian scientists' experiment was simple. They filled two laboratory beakers with a volume of 100 ml with distilled water so that the distance from the surface of the water to the edges was 3 mm. The glasses were placed at a distance of 1 mm from each other and electrodes were placed in them, one of which was grounded, and a constant voltage of 15 kV was applied to the other.

To the surprise of the experimenters, a cylindrical water bridge formed between the glasses. At a voltage of 25 kV, the maximum length of the bridge reached 25 mm. With a quick power outage, the bridge broke up into many drops. If a charged glass rod was brought to the bridge, it was attracted to it and formed a water arch. When any ions were added to the water, the water bridge was destroyed.

Scientists noted that regardless of the length of the bridge, there is a transfer of water from one glass to another. The heating of the bridge was recorded - the thinner it is, the more the water heated up. Interestingly, the density of water in the bridge was 7% higher than usual. Perhaps the water molecules in the bridge line up in a denser highly ordered structure.

How is such a bridge formed? The researchers suggest that it may occur due to the electrostatic interaction of charges on the surface of the water.
