Basic scientific information, legends, myths, symbolism

Sort by: Cyamopsis

Family: Legumes (Fabaceae)

Origin: India, Pakistan

Area: Guar is currently cultivated in India, Pakistan, USA, Australia, South Africa and other countries.

Chemical composition: The main component is guarana, which is a polysaccharide containing galactomuronic and mannose acids. The plant also contains proteins, fats, vitamins, minerals and other useful substances.

Economic value: Guar is used in food, textile, oil, pharmaceutical and other industries. From guar produce homogenizers, thickeners, stabilizers. The plant is also used as livestock feed. Guar has also been used in medicine as a laxative and cholesterol-lowering agent.

Legends, myths, symbolism: In Indian mythology, there is a legend that guar arose from a drop of milk from the goddess Lakshmi, the goddess of wealth and abundance. This myth stems from the fact that guar was one of the main food sources in ancient India, where it was used for cooking and as a source of protein. In some cultures, guar has been used to ward off evil spirits and corruption. Legend has it that guar was used in ritual ceremonies to protect against negative energy and disease. In some cultures, guar symbolizes abundance and wealth. It is often used as a decorative element at holidays and celebrations to attract good luck and prosperity.

Guar (cyamopsis four-winged, pea tree), Cyamopsis tetragonoloba Taub. Classification, synonyms, botanical description, nutritional value, cultivation

Guar (cyamopsis four-winged, pea tree)

Annual plant, pubescent, 60-80 cm high, with compound leaves (trifoliate) and small stipules. The flowers are small, purple, axial beans; fruits are quadrangular, oblong; seeds are angular, compressed.

The British call this plant cluster-bean.

The plant comes from India, cultivated all over the world in areas with suitable climates. Likes frequent showers, but can tolerate drought. 80% of industrial production is in India, but due to high demand, guar is also cultivated in other countries.

Guar can serve as cattle feed or be used as a green manure.

Guar beans have a large secondary endosperm containing galactomannans, a water-gelling substance better known as guar gum, used in dairy products (such as ice cream) and as a stabilizer in the processing of cheese and cold meats.

Also used as a food supplement. Partially hydrolyzing, guar gum is completely soluble in water and light food. Guar gum can be added to food with minimal impact on taste and texture.

For the best growth, guar requires abundant sunlight, short but fairly frequent showers, and well-drained soil. However, the plant is very drought tolerant and thrives in semi-arid regions. Too much rainfall can cause the plant to have too much foliage, which will reduce the number of pods and/or the number of seeds per pod, which in turn will adversely affect seed size and yield. Sowing takes place after the first rains in July, and harvesting takes place at the end of October.

It is grown predominantly in northwestern India and Pakistan, as well as in the semi-arid areas of the Texas High Plains in the USA, Australia and Africa. The most important guar growing area is located in the city of Jodhpur (Rajasthan, India). There are several varieties: white, black and gray seeds.

cultivated and wild plants. Legends, myths, symbolism, description, cultivation, methods of application

Guar (Cyamopsis tetragonoloba) is a legume native to India and Pakistan. Guar is used in the food industry, medicine and other industries.

Tips for growing, harvesting and storing guar:

Cultivation:

  • Guar is best grown in warm and dry climates with good soil air exchange capacity. Guar plants require a lot of sunlight and cannot tolerate frost.
  • Plant guar seeds about 2,5-3 cm deep in light, well-drained soil. Guar plants require regular watering but cannot tolerate excess moisture.
  • Guar can be grown both outdoors and in pots. If you are growing guar in pots, use a soil that drains water quickly.

Workpiece:

  • Guar is used to produce guar flour and guar gum. Guar flour is widely used in the food industry, especially for making ice cream, sauces and soups. Guar gum is used in the oil industry to correct drilling problems.
  • Harvest the guar pods when they are fully ripe, but not overripe. Make sure the pods are intact and show no signs of rot or other damage.
  • Separate the seeds from the pods, then grind the seeds and use them to make guar flour or guar gum.

Storage:

  • Guar is stored in a dry and cool place to maintain its quality and freshness. Store guar in an airtight container to avoid contact with moisture and oxygen.
  • Guar can last up to a year if properly packaged and stored in dry conditions.
  • Check the guar for damage or hardening before use.
  • If the guar is hard, grind it in a blender or coffee grinder to restore its texture.

Latest news of science and technology, new electronics:

The existence of an entropy rule for quantum entanglement has been proven 09.05.2024

Quantum mechanics continues to amaze us with its mysterious phenomena and unexpected discoveries. Recently, Bartosz Regula from the RIKEN Center for Quantum Computing and Ludovico Lamy from the University of Amsterdam presented a new discovery that concerns quantum entanglement and its relation to entropy. Quantum entanglement plays an important role in modern quantum information science and technology. However, the complexity of its structure makes understanding and managing it challenging. Regulus and Lamy's discovery shows that quantum entanglement follows an entropy rule similar to that for classical systems. This discovery opens new perspectives in the field of quantum information science and technology, deepening our understanding of quantum entanglement and its connection to thermodynamics. The results of the study indicate the possibility of reversibility of entanglement transformations, which could greatly simplify their use in various quantum technologies. Opening a new rule ... >>

liquid laser in air 14.07.2015

Dye lasers are often referred to as "liquid" lasers because they use solutions of organic dyes as the laser material. This name smoothly migrated to the US Advanced Defense Research Projects Agency (DARPA) program High Energy Liquid Laser Area Defense System (HELLADS) - "High Energy Liquid Laser Protection System", and it remained there. This is despite the fact that the development of General Atomics was a combination of a solid-state laser with a high energy density and a dye laser that allows you to control the temperature.

The program began about ten years ago and set the goal of creating a 150 kW laser to destroy missiles and projectiles, which would weigh no more than 5 kg per kilowatt of energy and take up no more than 3 cubic meters in volume so that it could be placed in an aircraft. By 2007, a 15 kW laser had been built in the lab, and in April of this year, General Atomics conducted successful acceptance testing of the all-electric HELLADS system weighing less than 907 kg (i.e. about 6 kg per kilowatt) and with a volume of 1,3 x 0,4 x 0,5 m, powered by a lithium-ion battery. During the 30-second demonstration, the beam quality remained unchanged, thus confirming the possibility of maintaining the quality of the electric pump laser beam at a power of more than 50 kW.

Now the laser, or rather, its so far a demonstration sample for ground placement, will go for testing at the White Sands test site in New Mexico. The 8287 km test site is the largest area in the United States owned by the Department of Defense. General Atomics expects by 2018 to begin installing HELLADS lasers on its own Avenger-type drones, previously well known under the name Predator C.
