Cephalophora aromatic, Cephalophora aromatica Schrad. Description of the plant, area, cultivation, application

Cephalophore aromaticу

An annual herbaceous plant of the Asteraceae family, 45-55 cm high.

The stem is straight, strongly branched almost from the very base, as a result of which the plant looks like a spherical bright green bush with a diameter of 30-35 cm. Each branch of the stem ends with a capitate inflorescence.

The leaves are alternate, lanceolate, entire and sparsely toothed with slight felt pubescence and small-pointed glands. The root is taproot, goes deep into the soil (up to 1,5 m). The flowers are yellow, collected at the ends of the branches in single heads of spherical shape with a diameter of 89 mm. Blooms in June-July (but mass flowering more often in mid-July). The fruit is a small dark brown achene. Seeds ripen in August-September.

Cephallophora is known as a spicy and ornamental plant. It has a pleasant smell of fresh strawberries.

In the wild, aromatic cephalophore is found in the central provinces of Chile, where a rather dry climate with an average annual rainfall of 330-350 mm and an average temperature of 13,5-14,3 ° C is well cultivated. The plant propagates by seeds when sown directly in the ground or seedlings. Cephalophora seeds are sensitive to the lack of soil moisture during the sowing period, which sharply slows down their germination.

The aerial part of the cephalophore contains essential oil, more of it in the inflorescences and very little in the stems. The oil is mobile, colorless or slightly yellowish, with a very persistent pleasant strawberry aroma.

Cephallophora is a good flavor additive for foods, drinks, sweet dishes, confectionery.

Cultivation. The best precursors for cephalophora are legumes and vegetables.

After removing them, the soil is loosened to a depth of 4-7 cm. After the germination of weeds, they are dug up to a depth of 25-30 cm.

Cephallophora grows well on soil fertilized with mineral and organic substances.

If 3-4 kg per 1 m2 of organic fertilizers were applied under the predecessor, then during the autumn preparation of the land for cephalophora, 30-40 g of superphosphate, 20-25 g of ammonium sulfate and 10-20 g of potassium salt per 1 m2 should be added.

In the spring, a thorough harrowing is carried out. Seeds are planted to a depth of 2-3 cm, the distance between rows is 60 cm. If seedlings are planted, then a distance of 10-15 cm is made between plants.

Shoots appear in 15-25 days. After that, the soil is loosened, and when the first pair of leaves appears, thinning is carried out, leaving a distance of 15-20 cm between the plants. 20-25 days after the mass emergence of seedlings, they are fed with ammonium nitrate at the rate of 15-20 g per 1 m2.

Plants need to be watered during dry seasons.

Fragrant cephalophora grass is harvested during the period of mass flowering.

Cut grass is dried in a well-ventilated area, under a canopy or in a dryer. Dry grass is packed in paper or canvas bags and stored in a ventilated place.

Energy from space for Starship 08.05.2024

Producing solar energy in space is becoming more feasible with the advent of new technologies and the development of space programs. The head of the startup Virtus Solis shared his vision of using SpaceX's Starship to create orbital power plants capable of powering the Earth. Startup Virtus Solis has unveiled an ambitious project to create orbital power plants using SpaceX's Starship. This idea could significantly change the field of solar energy production, making it more accessible and cheaper. The core of the startup's plan is to reduce the cost of launching satellites into space using Starship. This technological breakthrough is expected to make solar energy production in space more competitive with traditional energy sources. New method for creating powerful batteries 08.05.2024

With the development of technology and the expanding use of electronics, the issue of creating efficient and safe energy sources is becoming increasingly urgent. Researchers at the University of Queensland have unveiled a new approach to creating high-power zinc-based batteries that could change the landscape of the energy industry. One of the main problems with traditional water-based rechargeable batteries was their low voltage, which limited their use in modern devices. But thanks to a new method developed by scientists, this drawback has been successfully overcome. As part of their research, scientists turned to a special organic compound - catechol. It turned out to be an important component that can improve battery stability and increase its efficiency. This approach has led to a significant increase in the voltage of zinc-ion batteries, making them more competitive. According to scientists, such batteries have several advantages. They have b ... >>

Alcohol content of warm beer 07.05.2024

Beer, as one of the most common alcoholic drinks, has its own unique taste, which can change depending on the temperature of consumption. A new study by an international team of scientists has found that beer temperature has a significant impact on the perception of alcoholic taste. The study, led by materials scientist Lei Jiang, found that at different temperatures, ethanol and water molecules form different types of clusters, which affects the perception of alcoholic taste. At low temperatures, more pyramid-like clusters form, which reduces the pungency of the "ethanol" taste and makes the drink taste less alcoholic. On the contrary, as the temperature increases, the clusters become more chain-like, resulting in a more pronounced alcoholic taste. This explains why the taste of some alcoholic drinks, such as baijiu, can change depending on temperature. The data obtained opens up new prospects for beverage manufacturers, ... >>
