Freesia. Legends, myths, history

Freesia

This royal beauty flower symbolizes youth and trust.

In ancient times, these flowers grew only on the African continent, so Europeans for a long time simply did not know about their existence. The situation was radically changed by the era of the Great Geographical Discoveries, which brought hitherto unprecedented fame to the freesias.

The gardeners of the French kings began to engage in plant breeding, which predetermined the aristocratic future of the freesias. Bouquets and compositions of these flowers decorated the palace chambers, delighting high-ranking government officials and nobles with a wealth of natural shades and a unique smell of freshness.

These amazing flowers remain a symbol of the royal era to this day. Sensual notes of a cutter are present in the elite perfumery products of famous world manufacturers, once again confirming the aristocratic origin of these amazing flowers.

When the young Spring, having driven the gray snow from the fields and blooming the first flowers in the meadows, fell asleep among the green fleece of herbs, the Cold Wind, Frost and White Blizzard decided to capture her and imprison her in an ice palace. They dreamed of bringing back Winter. The wind rocked Spring, Frost turned her warm heart into ice, Blizzard covered her with snow. And everything around fell asleep: the snow-white snowdrops lowered their heads, the sleep-grass plunged into a long sleep, and the first dandelions closed their golden petals in fright.

It seemed that Spring could no longer be awakened and Winter would rule forever on Earth, when suddenly the bells - the freesia flower - became agitated. They rang softly at first, then louder and louder, and soon their ringing woke the sleeping Spring.

She woke up, released a breeze from her right sleeve - and it drove away the snow, released spring warmth from her left sleeve - and it melted the ice. And she gave the freesia a wonderful aroma and iridescent spring colors.

The unforgettable aroma of freesia is not only pleasant, but also has healing properties, uplifting.

The unforgettable scent of freesia, associated with spring and youth, can help a person relieve stress and get rid of depression. This is probably why freesia has become a real muse for many perfume companies. Freesia has long been used in the manufacture of perfumes, as the joyful mood that its special smell evokes in a fantastic way complements the image of the "carrier" of the aroma.

Freesia, Freesia. Tips for growing, harvesting and storing

cultivated and wild plants. Legends, myths, symbolism, description, cultivation, methods of application

Freesia is a beautiful plant with bright, fragrant flowers that come in a variety of hues, including white, yellow, pink, red, orange, and purple.

Tips for growing, harvesting and storing:

Cultivation:

  • Choose a planting site with plenty of sunlight and a good drainage system.
  • Prepare the soil by adding organic compost and sand if the soil is too clay or heavy.
  • Plant freesia bulbs at a depth of about 5-7 cm and with an interval of 10-15 cm between them.
  • After planting, fertilize plants sparingly, using fertilizer for flowering plants.
  • Water the plants regularly, especially during flowering.

Workpiece:

  • When the flowers begin to wilt, cut them off leaving a long stem about 5-7 cm from the bulb.
  • Remove the stems and leaves, leaving only the bulbs.
  • Place the bulbs on a paper or dry cloth to dry.
  • Store the bulbs in a cool, dry and dark place until next season.

Storage:

  • Bulbs can be stored in a dry and dark room at a temperature of 15-20 °C.
  • Provide adequate ventilation to prevent mold growth.
  • Do not allow too high or low humidity to avoid rotting of the bulbs.

Energy from space for Starship 08.05.2024

Producing solar energy in space is becoming more feasible with the advent of new technologies and the development of space programs. The head of the startup Virtus Solis shared his vision of using SpaceX's Starship to create orbital power plants capable of powering the Earth. Startup Virtus Solis has unveiled an ambitious project to create orbital power plants using SpaceX's Starship. This idea could significantly change the field of solar energy production, making it more accessible and cheaper. The core of the startup's plan is to reduce the cost of launching satellites into space using Starship. This technological breakthrough is expected to make solar energy production in space more competitive with traditional energy sources. Virtual Solis plans to build large photovoltaic panels in orbit, using Starship to deliver the necessary equipment. However, one of the key challenges ... >>

New method for creating powerful batteries 08.05.2024

With the development of technology and the expanding use of electronics, the issue of creating efficient and safe energy sources is becoming increasingly urgent. Researchers at the University of Queensland have unveiled a new approach to creating high-power zinc-based batteries that could change the landscape of the energy industry. One of the main problems with traditional water-based rechargeable batteries was their low voltage, which limited their use in modern devices. But thanks to a new method developed by scientists, this drawback has been successfully overcome. As part of their research, scientists turned to a special organic compound - catechol. It turned out to be an important component that can improve battery stability and increase its efficiency. This approach has led to a significant increase in the voltage of zinc-ion batteries, making them more competitive. According to scientists, such batteries have several advantages. They have b ... >>

Alcohol content of warm beer 07.05.2024

Beer, as one of the most common alcoholic drinks, has its own unique taste, which can change depending on the temperature of consumption. A new study by an international team of scientists has found that beer temperature has a significant impact on the perception of alcoholic taste. The study, led by materials scientist Lei Jiang, found that at different temperatures, ethanol and water molecules form different types of clusters, which affects the perception of alcoholic taste. At low temperatures, more pyramid-like clusters form, which reduces the pungency of the "ethanol" taste and makes the drink taste less alcoholic. On the contrary, as the temperature increases, the clusters become more chain-like, resulting in a more pronounced alcoholic taste. This explains why the taste of some alcoholic drinks, such as baijiu, can change depending on temperature. The data obtained opens up new prospects for beverage manufacturers, ... >>

Wireless powered maglev train 31.03.2022

A prototype maglev train powered by a unique wireless power supply has been tested in eastern China.

Such vehicles, including monorails, have long used electromagnetic induction to generate energy. However, Chinese scientists were able to surprise. Instead of the usual efficiency of 20-50% for such a method of energy transfer, Chinese technology provides an unprecedented efficiency of 92,4%. There is nothing like it anywhere in the world.

Traditional maglev (maglev trains) use so-called linear motors. In this scheme, the monorail and train equipment are actually one electric motor. One moves relative to the other and this leads to the generation of electric current on board the maglev. The efficiency of such an engine can be at the level of 20% or a little more. In addition, such a system does not generate energy during a stop, which requires other sources to power the onboard equipment. The new Chinese technology is devoid of this shortcoming.

In fact, Chinese engineers from CRRC Qingdao Sifang have developed a wireless power supply system for maglevs similar to the operation of an induction cooker. Along the canvas were placed electromagnetic coils, each of a special shape, about 20 meters long. Also, the receiving antenna on board the train was modified in a special way. In tests, the system at all speeds up to 600 km / h showed the ability to constantly transmit more than 170 kW of power to the maglev. It worked equally effectively both in motion and at stops.

Solving the problem of efficient energy transfer on board the train without wires, the engineers were looking for a way to eliminate the mutual interference of the supply field and the electromagnetic field driving the train (different coils did this); determined the optimal modes of turning on and off the power supply coils (at maximum speed, the train rushes over them in an instant) and solved a lot of other technological problems. Tests of the prototype showed that, in general, the problem was solved. The next generation of Chinese maglevs will become more advanced.
