Bather

Bathing suit and Kupalo are inseparable. Kupalo is the god of summer, summer flowers and fruits. Cheerful and beautiful, he is dressed in light clothes and holds flowers and field fruits in his hands. On his head is a wreath of swimsuit flowers. They are called swimsuits, because they bloom when the water in the rivers warms up so much that you can swim.

Saint Agrippina is known among the Russian people under the name of Agrafena Kupalnitsa. On June 23, the beautiful Bathing Lady goes with a bunch of forest and meadow flowers and with healing herbs and roots to visit her fiancé Ivana Kupalo. Kupalnitsa, Kupalo and the following Peter and Paul, in the view of the Russian people, merge into one big holiday - seeing off spring.

It is mentioned that a special grass, known as cat's nap, was called bathing suit. She is credited with various healing actions. On Vaga and in the Vologda province, bathing herbs are collected in the morning, when it is still in the dew, and stored in flasks for treatment.

And here is the legend of the bathing suit, which came from Western Siberia.

The slender young shepherd Alexei often drove herds of horses to a watering place near Baikal. With acceleration, the horses flew into the bright waters of the lake, raising fountains of spray, but Alexei was the most restless of all. He dived and swam so joyfully and laughed so contagiously that he frightened all the mermaids.

The mermaids began to come up with various tricks to lure Alexei, but none of them received his attention. Sighing dejectedly, the mermaids sank to the bottom of the lake, but one fell in love with Alexei so much that she did not want to part with him. She began to get out of the water and quietly pursue the shepherd. Her hair was sun-bleached and turned golden. The cold gaze lit up.

However, Alex did not notice anything. Sometimes he drew attention to the unusual outlines of the fog, similar to a girl stretching out her hands to him. But even then he only laughed and so accelerated the horse that the mermaid jumped aside in fear. The last time she sat not far from Alexei by the night fire, trying to draw attention to herself with a whisper, a sad song and a pale smile, but when Alexei got up to approach her, the mermaid melted in the morning rays, turning into a bathing suit flower, which Siberians affectionately call " hot."

There is a Siberian legend that “zharki” are sprouted gold coins of a greedy merchant, which his daughter threw away in despair when her father refused to marry her to a beloved, but poor guy. However, the last two legends should rightly be attributed not to the European, but to the Asian bathing suit.

Alcohol content of warm beer 07.05.2024

Beer, as one of the most common alcoholic drinks, has its own unique taste, which can change depending on the temperature of consumption. A new study by an international team of scientists has found that beer temperature has a significant impact on the perception of alcoholic taste. The study, led by materials scientist Lei Jiang, found that at different temperatures, ethanol and water molecules form different types of clusters, which affects the perception of alcoholic taste. At low temperatures, more pyramid-like clusters form, which reduces the pungency of the "ethanol" taste and makes the drink taste less alcoholic. On the contrary, as the temperature increases, the clusters become more chain-like, resulting in a more pronounced alcoholic taste. This explains why the taste of some alcoholic drinks, such as baijiu, can change depending on temperature. The data obtained opens up new prospects for beverage manufacturers, ... >>

Energy-saving solar-powered clothing 20.12.2023

With increasing temperatures on the planet and environmental challenges, people are faced not only with the need to adapt to a changing climate, but also to ensure biological safety in conditions of elevated temperatures. One innovative approach is the creation of solar-powered smart clothing, which scientists say can function as a personal air conditioner (or heater, if necessary).

Innovative technologies in the field of energy-saving clothing that use solar panels for thermoregulation are opening up new prospects for providing comfort in a changing climate. Systems developed by scientists that can regulate body temperature using solar energy provide an effective and convenient way to maintain biological safety in conditions of elevated temperatures. Further development and industrialization of such technologies could make them accessible to a wider range of consumers, reducing dependence on traditional temperature control methods and promoting resilience to climate change.

To ensure the comfort and safety of the human body, it is important to maintain a certain temperature regime. However, with the planet's rising temperatures and the cold regions at the poles, creating clothing that can regulate temperature has become essential. Scientists have developed an innovative thermoregulation system for clothing that combines an organic photovoltaic module and bidirectional electrocaloric devices to provide cooling or heating.

Both components are not only flexible and suitable for use in clothing, but are also powered by sunlight, eliminating the need for external power sources. The developed clothing is designed to expand the thermal comfort zone from 22° - 28°C to 12,5° - 37,6°C.

The efficiency of the device is sufficient to provide 24 hours of operation after 12 hours of charging in sunlight. In addition, it has a simple structure, compact design and can be integrated into existing clothing.

Perhaps the future will bring universal thermoregulation technologies that are not limited to just power supply, and can even support the operation of electronic devices in special conditions.

With the increase in temperature on the planet, clothing with cooling systems is becoming more and more in demand. Over the summer, reports emerged that global companies were providing cooling vests to their outdoor workers. New technologies also include vests with built-in water pumps, made from breathable fabrics, and even built-in fans.
