Pediculosis It's a lice infestation. Three types of lice can parasitize on the human body: head, clothes and pubic. Body lice and head lice are carriers of typhus and some types of fevers. The most common head louse, which usually lives on the scalp, mainly on the temples, nape, crown.

Lice feed on human blood. Parasitizing on his body, they go through three stages of development: egg (nit), larva and sexually mature louse. The egg has an elongated shape, yellowish-white in color, firmly glued to the hair due to the substance that the female secretes. The life span of an adult is 27-38 days. The female lays up to 4 eggs per day on her hair, and up to 160 in her entire life, so lice multiply very quickly.

Pediculosis is transmitted through direct contact from person to person (a louse covers a distance of 20 cm in a minute), as well as through clothes, underwear, hats, combs.

When to see a doctor

You can not go to the doctor at all if you quickly take measures to destroy the lice.

How to eradicate pediculosis

It is necessary to carry out disinsection of the child's head using any of the commercially available drugs for pediculosis: pediculin, pedicid, nittifor, nitilon, locodin, loncid, benzyl benzoate (20% suspension), karbofos (0,15% aqueous emulsion), etc.

Apply the selected preparation to the hair, tie the head with a plastic handkerchief and towel, hold for the appropriate time (read the instructions).

After that, wash your hair with running water with soap or shampoo and apply warm 5-10% table vinegar, tie your head with a plastic scarf and towel, soak for another 30 minutes.

Rinse your hair under running water, then comb out dead lice and nits with a thick comb.

Artificial leather for touch emulation 15.04.2024

In a modern technology world where distance is becoming increasingly commonplace, maintaining connection and a sense of closeness is important. Recent developments in artificial skin by German scientists from Saarland University represent a new era in virtual interactions. German researchers from Saarland University have developed ultra-thin films that can transmit the sensation of touch over a distance. This cutting-edge technology provides new opportunities for virtual communication, especially for those who find themselves far from their loved ones. The ultra-thin films developed by the researchers, just 50 micrometers thick, can be integrated into textiles and worn like a second skin. These films act as sensors that recognize tactile signals from mom or dad, and as actuators that transmit these movements to the baby. Parents' touch to the fabric activates sensors that react to pressure and deform the ultra-thin film. This ... >>

The attractiveness of caring men 14.04.2024

The stereotype that women prefer "bad boys" has long been widespread. However, recent research conducted by British scientists from Monash University offers a new perspective on this issue. They looked at how women responded to men's emotional responsibility and willingness to help others. The study's findings could change our understanding of what makes men attractive to women. A study conducted by scientists from Monash University leads to new findings about men's attractiveness to women. In the experiment, women were shown photographs of men with brief stories about their behavior in various situations, including their reaction to an encounter with a homeless person. Some of the men ignored the homeless man, while others helped him, such as buying him food. A study found that men who showed empathy and kindness were more attractive to women compared to men who showed empathy and kindness. ... >>

The skin is most damaged by smoking and ultraviolet radiation. 26.02.2024

Researchers at Laval University in Canada have found that exposure to tobacco smoke combined with ultraviolet rays can significantly accelerate the aging process of skin, Scientific Reports (SR) reports.

Scientific work demonstrates the need for a conscious attitude towards factors affecting skin condition. Avoiding exposure to tobacco smoke and UV rays is key to maintaining healthy, youthful-looking skin.

The skin aging process is a complex process that is influenced by both internal and external factors. In recent years, it has become known that exposure to various external factors can have a significant impact on the condition of the skin. However, little was known about the interaction of these factors with each other.

The purpose of the study was to study the effect of the combined action of tobacco smoke and ultraviolet rays on the skin. The study used skin substitute models that were exposed to tobacco smoke extract and simulated solar energy.

The study results showed that simultaneous exposure to cigarette smoke and ultraviolet rays leads to a decrease in procollagen synthesis and inhibition of the TGF-beta signaling pathway responsible for skin regeneration. There was also an increase in MMP-1 activity, which led to the breakdown of collagen proteins needed to maintain skin firmness and elasticity.

Additionally, an increase in pro-inflammatory cytokines and activation of certain signaling pathways were identified, indicating an anti-inflammatory response of the skin to exposure to cigarette smoke and ultraviolet rays.

These results highlight the importance of avoiding the combined effects of various environmental factors on the skin, especially when reducing risk behaviors such as smoking and protecting from sun exposure.
