Check that the equipment is in good working order: the presence and strength of the fastening of the guards, the reliability of the functioning of the safety devices, including: a light barrier, two-handle push buttons of the safety circuit (both buttons must be actuated within 0,5 seconds), an electronic control circuit for controlling the electromagnetic clutch for the drive knife (if one of the switching elements inside the knife drive control fails, as well as if the tracking limit of the knife holder is exceeded, subsequent cutting is blocked), safety contact on the flywheel guards (the main motor is turned off when the flywheel guard is opened), safety contact on the pedal lock (when the beam is blocked the knife drive is blocked), the serviceability of the interlocks, turning on and off devices, the brake mechanism, especially the reliability of the automatic stop of the knife when the machine is turned off manually or by safety devices (it is forbidden to use a light barrier to turn off the knife drive), serviceability of the pressure gauge, oil level in the hydraulic system reservoir, serviceability of grounding, tightness and absence of visible external damage to all pipelines, hoses and screw connections.

2.3. Check the fastening strength and good condition of the knife, knife holder and clamping beam.

2.4. Check the operation of the mechanism of the stop bar (butt) using the "forward" and "backward" buttons or manually.

2.5. Check the uppermost position of the knife, it should not go beyond the lower plane of the pressure beam, with the correct automatic shutdown of the drive, the knife on the right side should be at least 6 mm higher than the pressure beam.

2.6. Read the entry in the Equipment Maintenance Log. In case of any comments, do not start work until the troubleshooting and a note in the Journal (adjuster, electrician) about the health of the equipment.

2.7. Make sure that there are no foreign objects on the machine (wiping materials, oilers, screwdrivers, etc.).

2.8. Report all identified problems to the work manager and do not start work until they are eliminated.

3. Safety requirements during work

3.1. When repairing equipment, carrying out preventive maintenance, it is necessary to make an entry in the Journal of the technical condition of the equipment. Persons who carried out repairs and preventive maintenance are required to make a record allowing them to work.

3.2. When setting the size, raise the knife to its highest position.

3. During the cut, be sure to clamp the product to be cut with a clamp by pressing the pedal with your foot.

3.4. When feeding products to the stop with your left hand, make sure that the clamp does not pinch your fingers.

3.5. When installing the knife in the machine, place wooden blocks under it. Install the knife only with the help of special lever rods. Blade change may only be carried out by specially trained personnel.

3.6. The knife in the knife holder must be fixed with all bolts. When fixing the knife, you must be careful and use only serviceable (without knocked down jaws) keys of the appropriate size.

Artificial leather for touch emulation 15.04.2024

In a modern technology world where distance is becoming increasingly commonplace, maintaining connection and a sense of closeness is important. Recent developments in artificial skin by German scientists from Saarland University represent a new era in virtual interactions. German researchers from Saarland University have developed ultra-thin films that can transmit the sensation of touch over a distance. This cutting-edge technology provides new opportunities for virtual communication, especially for those who find themselves far from their loved ones. The ultra-thin films developed by the researchers, just 50 micrometers thick, can be integrated into textiles and worn like a second skin. These films act as sensors that recognize tactile signals from mom or dad, and as actuators that transmit these movements to the baby. Parents' touch to the fabric activates sensors that react to pressure and deform the ultra-thin film. This ... >>

The attractiveness of caring men 14.04.2024

The stereotype that women prefer "bad boys" has long been widespread. However, recent research conducted by British scientists from Monash University offers a new perspective on this issue. They looked at how women responded to men's emotional responsibility and willingness to help others. The study's findings could change our understanding of what makes men attractive to women. A study conducted by scientists from Monash University leads to new findings about men's attractiveness to women. In the experiment, women were shown photographs of men with brief stories about their behavior in various situations, including their reaction to an encounter with a homeless person. Some of the men ignored the homeless man, while others helped him, such as buying him food. A study found that men who showed empathy and kindness were more attractive to women compared to men who showed empathy and kindness. ... >>

Carbon transistors on DNA strands 23.09.2013

Anatoly Sokolov, an employee of Stanford University, together with fellow physicists, developed a method for obtaining carbon transistors based on DNA strands.

During the experiment, bacterial DNA was deposited on a silicon substrate, where the nucleic acid was stretched into almost even straight strands. Then the substrate with DNA was transferred to a sealed chamber with methane and heated. Under the action of heat, some of the carbon atoms were released from the DNA (in fact, the DNA on the substrate was charred). Methane molecules were attached to such atoms, forming thin carbon strips on the substrate.

The goal of the scientists' work was to use DNA as a guide structure for growing thin (several atoms wide, up to 10 nanometers) graphene strips. As shown earlier, such strips, unlike sheet graphene, are semiconductors, and therefore can be used to create transistors. According to the authors, depending on the production conditions, they obtained either metallic or semiconductor carbon nanostrips. The carbon in them, however, was in different electronic states in different places and looked more like graphite than graphene. Nevertheless, the authors hope that in the future it will be possible to obtain pure graphene transistors using this method.

Physicists have learned to give graphene the properties of a semiconductor without the use of DNA. To do this, you can put a sheet of monatomic carbon on another flat monatomic material, such as boron nitride. In addition, graphene researchers have recently learned how to cut it into fragments of the desired shape using a laser and stack them in piles, where the material can form van der Waals heterostructures.
