OCCUPATIONAL SAFETY AND HEALTH
Instructions on labor protection for a wood grinder engaged in grinding parts on disk and drum machines. Full Document Occupational Safety and Health / Standard instructions for labor protection Safe Operation 1. General requirements for labor protection 1.1. General safety requirements are set out in the Instruction "General safety requirements for professions and types of work in furniture production". 1.2. Characteristics of dangerous and harmful production factors 1.2.1. Moving machines and mechanisms, moving parts of production equipment, moving products, blanks, materials. Sources of factors: rotating and moving sanding belt, moving and rotating parts of equipment, low-quality sanding belt. Effect of the factor: the possibility of contact with the working body of the machine, disks and bobbins, with moving parts of the equipment (belt and gear drives), the possibility of breaking the grinding belt. 1.2.2. Increased dust and gas content in the air of the working area. Sources of factors: grinding process, non-working local suction. Action factor: the possibility of disease. 1.2.3. Increased levels of static electricity. The source of the factor: the grinding process. Effect of the factor: a negative effect on the body. 1.2.4. Explosion and fire hazard. The source of the factor: dust of explosive concentration and discharge of static electricity. Action factor: the possibility of injury in the event of an explosion, fire. 1.3. Personal protective equipment: cotton semi-overalls; respirator; footwear is antistatic. Cotton gloves for hand sanding. 2. Safety requirements before starting work 2.1. Put a sanding belt on the discs and reel, fasten it securely with clamping devices. Trim the ends of the tape. 2.2. Check the serviceability of electrical equipment, grounding devices and devices that prevent the accumulation of charges of static electricity. 2.3. Monitor the serviceability of the guards of the discs, bobbins and belt and gear drives. 2.4. Check the serviceability of the fixtures for fixing the parts to be ground. 2.5. Make sure that the fencing interlocks are working properly with starting devices. 2.6. Check the correct operation of the local suction and supply ventilation. 2.7. Check that the braking device is working. 3. Safety requirements during work 3.1. Monitor the condition of the sanding belt. 3.2. Tightly, but not very strongly (in order to avoid breaking the sandpaper) press the part against the disk. 3.3. Do not place objects on the guards and mechanisms of the machine. 3.4. If local suction stops working or a malfunction occurs in the operation of the machine, stop the machine and inform the foreman. 3.5. When processing small parts on machine tools, special clamping devices are used, which exclude the possibility of the machine operator's hands falling off the machine disk. 3.6. Regularly clean the pneumatic conveying system to prevent accumulation of dust in the pipelines. 3.7. Do not work in clothes made of synthetic fabrics. 4. Safety requirements in emergency situations 4.1. Turn off equipment. 4.2. Post a table about the malfunction of the machine or equipment and report this to the direct management. 4.3. In the event of a fire or extinguishing a flame, use a nearby fire extinguisher. 4.4. The victim or bystander must notify the appropriate work manager of each accident or poisoning. 4.5. The worker must be able to provide first aid. Such assistance is provided immediately, directly at the scene and in the following sequence: first you need to eliminate the energy source of injury (switch off the engine, stop the mechanism, remove the victim from under the car, a heavy object, etc.). Assistance should begin with the most significant that threatens life or health (in case of severe bleeding, apply a tourniquet, and then bandage the wound; if a closed fracture is suspected, apply a splint; with open fractures, first bandage the wound and then apply a splint; in case of burns, apply a dry bandage ; in case of frostbite, gently rub the affected area using soft or fluffy tissues). If spinal injury is suspected, transport the victim only in the supine position on a rigid base. 4.6. After providing first aid, the victim should be sent to the nearest medical facility. 5. Safety requirements at the end of work 5.1. Turn off equipment. Wait for it to come to a complete stop. Tidy up the workplace: remove tools, fixtures; clean the machine from dirt and dust; wipe and lubricate the rubbing parts of the machine; neatly fold the finished parts and the remaining material. 5.2. Cleaning of wood waste (sawdust, shavings, dust) from the surface of the equipment, as well as from overalls, is carried out with a brush, sweep or using vacuum cleaners. It is unacceptable to blow the machine and clothes with compressed air. 5.3. Rags used during work and when cleaning, put the rags in a special metal box with a closing lid and take it outside the workshop to a specially designated place. 5.4. Wash hands with warm water and soap. 5.5. Report all noticed shortcomings in the operation of the equipment to the shift worker or foreman.
