Instructions for labor protection when applying metal coatings, cleaning parts with solvents Occupational Safety and Health / Standard instructions for labor protection Safe Operation 1. General safety requirements 1.1. On the basis of this instruction, labor protection instructions are developed for workers involved in the processes of applying metal coatings when cleaning parts with organic solvents (hereinafter referred to as workers engaged in cleaning parts with organic solvents). 1.2. To perform cleaning of parts with organic solvents, workers are allowed at least 18 years of age who have been trained, instructed and tested on labor protection, who have mastered safe methods and techniques for performing work, methods and techniques for the correct handling of mechanisms, devices, tools, as well as with loads . 1.3. To work on hoisting machines controlled from the floor, to hang the load on the hook of such machines, workers are allowed at least 18 years old, trained in a special program, certified by the examination committee of the organization and having a certificate for the right to use hoisting machines and hooking loads. 1.4. When performing work, it is necessary to observe the accepted technology for cleaning parts with organic solvents. It is not allowed to use methods leading to violation of labor safety requirements. 1.5. If you have any questions related to its safe performance during the work process, you must contact your immediate or higher manager. 1.6. Employees cleaning parts with organic solvents are required to comply with the internal labor regulations of the organization. 1.7. When cleaning parts with organic solvents, the worker may be exposed to dangerous and harmful production factors:
1.8. Workers cleaning parts with organic solvents must be provided with personal protective equipment. 1.9. The room in which parts are cleaned with organic solvents must be isolated from other production areas and equipped with supply and exhaust ventilation, as well as provided with fire extinguishing equipment. 1.10. Flammable organic solvents in the washing room should be stored in the prescribed amount, agreed with the fire authorities. 1.11. Cleaning with organic solvents should be carried out in special cabinets made of non-combustible materials, inside which bathtubs or tables made of non-ferrous metals should be installed. 1.12. Above the sides of the baths or table and in the upper part of the cabinet, where cleaning with organic solvents is carried out, it is necessary to arrange ventilation exhausts. 1.13. Bodies of baths for cleaning with organic solvents must be earthed. 1.14. The order of laying parts must be established in the technological documentation. 1.15. Parts for cleaning must be delivered in a special container. 1.16. In the event of an accident, a worker cleaning parts with organic solvents should stop work, notify their immediate or superior supervisor, and seek medical attention. 1.17. An employee cleaning parts with organic solvents must follow the rules of personal hygiene: before eating and after finishing work, wash their hands with warm water and soap. Food must be taken in rooms specially equipped for this purpose. 1.18. Workers involved in cleaning parts with organic solvents should be able to provide first aid to the victim. 1.19. Workers cleaning parts with organic solvents who do not comply with the requirements of this manual are held liable in accordance with applicable law. 2. Safety requirements before starting work 2.1. Inspect the workplace, put it in order, clear the aisles and do not clutter them up. 2.2. Inspect, tidy up and put on personal protective equipment. 2.3. Make sure that the floor is dry and the foot grate, located by the special cabinet for cleaning with organic solvents, is stable and in good condition. 2.4. Turn on and check ventilation. Cleaning of parts with organic solvents should be carried out only with active ventilation. Turn on ventilation at least 5 minutes before starting work. 2.5. Check availability and serviceability:
If any malfunctions are detected, do not start work, report malfunctions to your immediate or higher manager. 2.6. When working with lifting mechanisms, check their serviceability and comply with the requirements of the relevant labor protection instructions. 3. Safety requirements during work 3.1. Keep the workplace clean and free from clutter. 3.2. When cleaning it is necessary to use solvents with antistatic additives. 3.3. When cleaning by wiping by hand, use cotton materials that do not contribute to the accumulation of static electricity. 3.4. During cleaning, do not allow solvents to spill onto the floor, and in case of spills, remove them immediately. 3.5. Purification in chlorinated hydrocarbons should be carried out in pressurized installations. 3.6. It is not allowed to use electric heaters and smoke in the workplace, as well as to perform any work related to the appearance of sparks. 3.7. It is necessary to wash the parts in the bath only with rubber gloves. 3.8. During the lunch break, close the lids for washing baths and solvent containers. 3.9. Transport the cleaned parts using a lifting mechanism to a designated area for drying. 3.10. Cleaning and repair of equipment containing residues of organic solvents should be carried out after blowing it with air or steam until the solvent vapors are completely removed. When purging, ventilation devices must be turned on to prevent contamination of the room air with vapors of organic solvents. 3.11. It is not allowed to perform loading and unloading operations with a speed of gasoline in the pipeline of more than 0,1 m / s. 3.12. Check the serviceability of the system of interlocks, alarms, limit switches, chains, hooks and devices for hanging parts and the reliability of their fastening. 3.13. Do not allow unauthorized persons who are not related to this work to work at the installation for cleaning with organic solvents. 4. Safety requirements in emergency situations 4.1. If a malfunction is detected in the organic solvent cleaning unit, disconnect it from the power supply and notify your immediate or superior manager about this. 4.2. In case of injury, poisoning and sudden illness, the victim should be provided with first (pre-medical) aid and, if necessary, his delivery to a healthcare facility should be organized. 4.3. In case of electric shock, take measures to release the victim from the action of the current as soon as possible. 4.4. When rotating parts of machines, slings, cargo hooks and other equipment capture parts of the body or clothing, give a signal to stop work and, if possible, take measures to stop the machine (equipment). Tidy up the workplace, put the tools and fixtures in the tool box. 5.4. Before handing over the shift, check the serviceability of the installation for cleaning with organic solvents:
