The detected malfunctions should be eliminated on their own, and if it is impossible to do this, the driver is obliged to report them to the person responsible for the safe performance of work, as well as the person responsible for maintaining the machine in good condition.

Safety requirements during work

10. It is necessary to move the machine with the hammer lowered along the planned site.

11. Piles should only be pulled through a pull-off block fixed at the base of the machine and in a straight line within the operator's line of sight.

12. When lifting, the pile must be kept from swinging and rotating with the help of braces.

13. Raise the pile hammer and the piles should be sequential. Simultaneous lifting of the hammer and pile is not allowed.

14. Before starting the pile hammer, the driver must give a sound signal.

15. When raising and lowering the hammer on the unit, the piston must be in the lower position, and the hammer head must be equipped with wooden shock absorber inserts.

16. When starting and operating the hammer, the driver must ensure that the workers are no closer than 4 m from the hammer.

17. When installing piles, the tilt of the pile boom should be changed when the diesel hammer is fixed in the lower position.

18. The driver is prohibited from:

a) allow persons who do not have a pile driver's certificate and are not assigned to this machine to sling piles;

b) lift a pile, the mass of which exceeds the carrying capacity of the unit;

c) lift other loads with the base machine, except for parts and assemblies of attachments;

d) lift the pile and the hammer at the same time;

e) pull up piles clamped by other materials or products, frozen to the ground, and also stacked in more than two rows;

f) lift reinforced concrete piles with broken mounting loops;

g) leave the pile and the hammer suspended in the event of a temporary cessation of work;

h) transfer control of the unit to a person who does not have an appropriate certificate for this;

i) loosen the rope on which the pile is held before installing a diesel hammer on it;

j) lowering the hammer or pile with the winch drum fully released, followed by catching the brake at the end of the descent;

k) remove the hammer from the pile if the latter is driven by less than 1/3 of its length;

l) leave the machine unattended while the hammer is in operation;

m) work with a faulty hammer;

o) maintain and repair the hammer with the cylinder or piston raised and not locked;

o) take part in the work of cutting and removing pile heads without a formalized work permit.

19. When moving and installing the machine near the recesses, the driver must observe the safe distances from the bottom of the slope to the nearest support of the machine, not less than those indicated in Table 1 below.

Table 1. Minimum machine approach distances to excavations

Safety requirements in emergency situations

20. If weather conditions change (snowfall, fog or rain) that impair visibility within the work front, as well as wind speeds up to 15 m/s or more, work must be stopped and reported to the work manager.

21. If there are signs of a malfunction of the engine, hydraulic system or lifting mechanism, as well as signs of destruction of the pile, work must be suspended and measures taken to eliminate the malfunctions.

22. In case of deviation of the driven pile from the design position or its destruction during driving, such a pile should be pulled out using a double-action hammer or a vibratory driver, if the machine is equipped with such a unit.

Safety requirements at the end of work

23. At the end of the work, the driver must:

a) lower the hammer to the lower position and fix it on the copra boom. If the pile is driven under the pile driver, then lower the diesel hammer onto the pile and fasten it together with it;

Artificial leather for touch emulation 15.04.2024

In a modern technology world where distance is becoming increasingly commonplace, maintaining connection and a sense of closeness is important. Recent developments in artificial skin by German scientists from Saarland University represent a new era in virtual interactions. German researchers from Saarland University have developed ultra-thin films that can transmit the sensation of touch over a distance. This cutting-edge technology provides new opportunities for virtual communication, especially for those who find themselves far from their loved ones. The ultra-thin films developed by the researchers, just 50 micrometers thick, can be integrated into textiles and worn like a second skin. These films act as sensors that recognize tactile signals from mom or dad, and as actuators that transmit these movements to the baby. Parents' touch to the fabric activates sensors that react to pressure and deform the ultra-thin film. This ... >>
