Safe Operation

1. General requirements for labor protection

1.1. All machines and mechanisms must have guards, protective devices and devices that exclude:

  • touching the moving parts or the working tool of the machine;
  • departure from the machine of the cutting tool or its parts, as well as workpieces and parts being processed;
  • getting into the machine operator or other persons located near the machine, chips and cuts, the material being processed.

1.2. Do only the work that you have been trained to do

1.3. Be careful while working.

1.4. Do not touch the moving mechanisms, Make sure that the grounding is available and monitor the serviceability.

1.5. Do not block aisles and driveways.

1.6. In all cases, report malfunctions of the machine to your supervisor.

1.7. Each machine operator is obliged to know and comply with the requirements set forth in this manual.

2. Labor protection requirements before starting work

2.1. Getting Started:

  • put on and put in order your overalls and shoes;
  • fasten all the buttons of the overalls so that there are no hanging ends (strings of the sleeves of a dressing gown, ends of a scarf, etc.);
  • put on a tight headdress (cap, beret or scarf) and put hair under it;
  • carefully lace up or fasten safety shoes tightly.

2.2. Check the presence of a working wooden grate under your feet.

2.3. Check the availability and serviceability of personal protective equipment.

3.4. Get the tools you need to work, check their serviceability.

2.5. Check the cleanliness of the workplace and the machine, remove clutter,

2.6. Set the guide ruler to the width of the workpieces to be processed.

2.7. Make sure that the cutter shafts rotate freely and that the planer knives are set correctly.

2.8. Check the availability and serviceability of grounding equipment, fences, reliability of fasteners.

3. Labor protection requirements during work

3.1. When working on a planer, observe the rules for the technical operation of the machine.

3.2. Start feeding workpieces only after the knife shaft has reached its full speed.

3.3. It is not allowed to inspect, adjust, clean and lubricate the machine on the go.

3.4. When processing long and heavy workpieces, use attached roller bearings.

3.5. It is not allowed to rest your hand against the end of the board when manually feeding.

3.6. Beams with a length of less than 400 mm, a width of less than 50 mm and a thickness of less than 30 mm must be planed on a planer using special tools only.

3.7. Jointing thin and short parts with pages is allowed only with the use of a special device - a cleat.

3.8. In case of injury, immediately contact the first-aid post and inform the administration about it.

3.9. It is forbidden:

  • to introduce hands into a dangerous eon of rotation of the instrument;
  • work without guards and safety devices or in case of their malfunction;
  • to brake the knife shaft by pressing with some object on the belt or pulley or by pushing the board onto the knife shaft when the machine is turned on;
  • install any gaskets under the knives and work with blunt knives or knives with different weights and sizes;
  • cool heated bearings with water or snow;
  • put on a belt on the go;
  • leave the machine until it stops completely;
  • allow unauthorized persons to enter your workplace;
  • get dressed or undressed in the vicinity of operating equipment

4. Labor protection requirements at the end of work

4.1. Stop the serviced equipment and turn off the breaker.

4.2. Collect, check the availability and serviceability of the tools, devices that were used during work.

4.3. Tidy up the workplace, remove materials and waste, wipe and lubricate equipment.

4.4. Place cleaning materials in a closed metal container provided for this purpose in order to avoid fire.

4.5. Take off work clothes and shoes, clean them from wood chips, dust, dirt and hang them in a production closet.

4.6. Wash your hands thoroughly with soap, wash your face or take a shower.

Artificial leather for touch emulation 15.04.2024

In a modern technology world where distance is becoming increasingly commonplace, maintaining connection and a sense of closeness is important. Recent developments in artificial skin by German scientists from Saarland University represent a new era in virtual interactions. German researchers from Saarland University have developed ultra-thin films that can transmit the sensation of touch over a distance. This cutting-edge technology provides new opportunities for virtual communication, especially for those who find themselves far from their loved ones. The ultra-thin films developed by the researchers, just 50 micrometers thick, can be integrated into textiles and worn like a second skin. These films act as sensors that recognize tactile signals from mom or dad, and as actuators that transmit these movements to the baby. Parents' touch to the fabric activates sensors that react to pressure and deform the ultra-thin film. This ... >>

Petgugu Global cat litter 15.04.2024

Taking care of pets can often be a challenge, especially when it comes to keeping your home clean. A new interesting solution from the Petgugu Global startup has been presented, which will make life easier for cat owners and help them keep their home perfectly clean and tidy. Startup Petgugu Global has unveiled a unique cat toilet that can automatically flush feces, keeping your home clean and fresh. This innovative device is equipped with various smart sensors that monitor your pet's toilet activity and activate to automatically clean after use. The device connects to the sewer system and ensures efficient waste removal without the need for intervention from the owner. Additionally, the toilet has a large flushable storage capacity, making it ideal for multi-cat households. The Petgugu cat litter bowl is designed for use with water-soluble litters and offers a range of additional ... >>

The attractiveness of caring men 14.04.2024

The stereotype that women prefer "bad boys" has long been widespread. However, recent research conducted by British scientists from Monash University offers a new perspective on this issue. They looked at how women responded to men's emotional responsibility and willingness to help others. The study's findings could change our understanding of what makes men attractive to women. A study conducted by scientists from Monash University leads to new findings about men's attractiveness to women. In the experiment, women were shown photographs of men with brief stories about their behavior in various situations, including their reaction to an encounter with a homeless person. Some of the men ignored the homeless man, while others helped him, such as buying him food. A study found that men who showed empathy and kindness were more attractive to women compared to men who showed empathy and kindness. ... >>

Orange peels for lithium battery recycling 25.08.2020

The reuse of rare metals, which do not disappear from used lithium-containing batteries, is becoming more and more pressing. A serious disadvantage in the processing of used batteries is extremely harmful technical processes, during which a lot of toxic substances are released. Surprisingly, all harmful chemicals can be replaced with dried orange peels, as scientists from Singapore have proven.

The traditional process for recycling used lithium batteries involves heating and melting at temperatures above 500 °C. This requires the highest energy costs and is accompanied by the release of toxic gases. A cleaner technology has been proposed as a replacement. It consists in grinding batteries and subsequent precipitation of metals in a liquid medium - in a heated mixture of acids and hydrogen peroxide. This is called hydrometallurgy, and it is still in the experimental stage.

In the proposed form, hydrometallurgy is also not sugar. Especially on an industrial scale, if it comes to that. Another thing is if acids are replaced with something environmentally friendly. How? For example, orange peels, which contain sugars and acids necessary for the reaction with the precipitation of metals.

The use of orange peels as a reagent was proposed by scientists from Singapore's Nanyang Technological University. The peel of these citrus fruits was dried and then ground into a powder. Based on the powder, a mixture was created for the precipitation of metals in combination with citric acid, also extracted from citrus fruits. Plus hydrogen peroxide.

Scientists have extracted about 90% of lithium, cobalt, nickel and manganese from used batteries. This is about the same as how many of these materials are recovered in the process of traditional "toxic" processing. Only after the "citrus" processing was the waste non-toxic.

From the metals obtained during the recycling of used batteries, scientists have made a new battery that is not inferior in performance to conventional new lithium-ion batteries. Further testing is currently underway to ensure new batteries will last a comparable number of charge/discharge cycles.
