Safe Operation

1. General safety requirements

To control, operate and maintain the mower are allowed persons who have certificates for the right to drive a Belarus brand tractor, who have undergone additional training and safety instructions for working on a rotary mower.

In the future, knowledge testing and briefings are carried out on the basis of GOST 12.0.004-90.

When performing work with a rotary mower, it is necessary to observe all safety measures when working on a tractor, set forth in the operating instructions and the labor protection instructions for the tractor driver.

Persons serving the mower are appointed by order of the head of the organization operating the machine.

Persons servicing the mower must be provided with an instruction manual containing information and requirements:

the purpose of the mower and its scope;
a brief description of the device with general views of the main components;
kinematic scheme and its description;
diagram and description of the mower control system;
description of the hydraulic system of the mower;
description and diagram of the mechanism for turning the working body;
description and diagram of the hitch system;
description and scheme of installation and dismantling.

2. Safety requirements before starting work

Check by external inspection the serviceability and readiness of the systems and components of the mower for operation. In this case, special attention must be paid to the presence of protective fences on the rotor, as well as the reliability of fastening the knives on the working body.

Check the presence of fuel, oil in the appropriate containers of the machine and refuel if necessary.

Check the track adjustment of the base tractor on the guide and drive wheels and, if necessary, adjust to 1600 mm.

Check the correct installation of the independent power take-off shaft drive, the switch of which must be set to the 1000 rpm position (for MTZ-80,82, 80L, 82L).

Switch the light signaling lamp to the "Work" mode (intermittent burning).

Install the protective mesh fence on the cab glazing to the working position.

Make sure that the hydraulic cylinders of the hitch system are working, having previously removed the chain and the rod from the counterweight section from the working body.

Switch on and off the power take-off shaft drive. In the presence of sharp blows of the rotor against the protective fence, re-examine the working body and eliminate the malfunctions.

Clean the front of work from foreign objects (stones, pieces of wire, etc.).

3. Safety requirements during work

It is not allowed to start work on a faulty and understaffed machine.

The mower should be operated in the following sequence:

turn on the power take-off shaft drive, and after it has reached 1000 rpm (according to the tachometer readings on the instrument panel), install the working body on the surface to be treated when mowing vegetation or fix it in the required working position when cutting trees and snow protection plantings;
depending on the density and composition of the vegetation, select and turn on the speed of the base tractor in the range of 1,89-4,26 km/h (for MTZ-80/82, 80L/82L tractors) or 1,56-2,65 km/h (for tractors MTZ-50/52, 50L/52L).

Start work at minimum speed.

When mowing smooth slopes, lower the support skis of the working body directly to the ground and turn on the working body control hydraulic cylinder to the floating position.

When mowing slopes of various profiles with occurring irregularities, in order to avoid breakage, lift the working body with a hydraulic cylinder in order to increase the cutting height.

When working on mowing, strictly ensure that foreign objects do not fall into the working body. If extraneous noise appears, immediately turn off the tractor power take-off shaft, turn off the engine, inspect the working body and, if foreign objects are found, clean the mower from them. After that, test the mower at idle, if everything is in order, then continue mowing the area.

During work it is not allowed:

work on the mower without protective mesh fences installed in the working position, the light signaling lamp turned on, and also without road signs provided for by the technical documentation;
when moving the mower, drive closer than 1 m (along the contour of the base tractor) to the edge of the slope;
unauthorized persons to be within a radius of less than 30 m from the operating mower;
lubricate, repair, clear vegetation, change knives while the engine is running;
leave the mower unattended with the engine running;
work on a mower mounted on a tractor with a track on the guide and drive wheels of less than 1600 mm.

When moving the mower from site to site, the working body must be fixed in the transport position with the help of a chain, and the boom - with the help of traction.

After mowing is completed, it is necessary to install the mower in the transport position, securely fastening the working body and the boom with mechanical locks.

When transporting under its own power, it is necessary to monitor the safety of the cable block system and fasteners, paying special attention to the integrity of the cable.

Transport speed should not exceed 30 km/h on a good road.

4. Safety requirements in emergency situations

In case of loss of stability (large inclination of the tractor), it is necessary to lower the working body (mower), leave the cab and pull the tractor to a level place with the help of a tug.

If underground communications and structures, electrical cables, pipelines, explosive and other unknown objects are found on the site of the work being performed, the tractor driver is obliged to immediately stop work and inform the work manager.

In the event of a fire on the tractor, it is urgent to shut off the fuel supply and take measures to eliminate the source of combustion. In this case, it is necessary to use a fire extinguisher, sand, earth, tarpaulin, observing safety precautions.

In case of injury, poisoning and sudden illness, the tractor driver is obliged to immediately inform the work manager.

In the event of a traffic accident, the tractor driver involved in it is obliged to act in accordance with the requirements set forth in the traffic rules.

5. Labor protection requirements at the end of work

Put the tractor in a specially designated place without obstructing the traffic, turn off the engine, turn off the clutch, put the gear lever in neutral, brake the tractor, lower the working body to the ground, close the cab.

Clean the tractor and mower from dirt and vegetation, and then inspect the condition of all mechanisms.

Eliminate minor defects found during operation and inspection.

Lubricate the mechanisms of the mower and tractor according to the operating instructions.

Report all detected and not eliminated malfunctions to the mechanic or the person responsible for operation, and if there is a shifter, then to the shifter.

Wash your face and hands or take a shower.

If there is a significant break before the next use of the mower, then after cleaning and lubricating it should be stored in a closed room or under a canopy.

In case of long breaks in work (end of the season), for the sake of technical safety, the mower must be mothballed.

During conservation, all post-season care operations should be carried out.

If necessary, dismantle the mower in accordance with the technical description and operating instructions.

Store the dismantled mower in boxes on a wooden deck so that no part comes into contact with the ground.
