Safe Operation

1. General provisions

This instruction establishes the requirements for labor protection during the operation of vacuum pumps, in accordance with the Labor Code of Ukraine. Persons who do not comply with the requirements of the instruction on labor protection, depending on the nature of the violations, are subject to disciplinary, material, administrative and criminal liability.

1.1. The following persons are allowed to independently operate vacuum pumps:

  • over 18 years of age;
  • who underwent a medical examination in accordance with Order No. 246 of the Ministry of Health of Ukraine dated May 21, 2007 and do not have medical contraindications;
  • trained, instructed on labor protection, providing first aid to victims of an accident, on the rules of conduct in the event of accidents.

1.2. Personnel operating vacuum installations must:

  • be able to use the means of collective and individual protection;
  • comply with labor protection obligations stipulated by the collective agreement and internal labor regulations;
  • timely start and finish work, observe the time of technological and lunch breaks;
  • do not perform work not provided for by the shift task;
  • not be at work outside of working hours without the appropriate permission of the head.

1.3. During the operation of vacuum pumps, exposure to hazardous and harmful production factors is possible:

Physical:

  • moving parts of production equipment;
  • dangerous value of voltage in the electrical circuit, the closure of which can occur through the human body;
  • increased noise level in the workplace;
  • increased level of vibration;
  • increased or decreased temperature of equipment surfaces;
  • increased or decreased air temperature of the working area;
  • reduced or increased air mobility;
  • insufficient illumination of the working area.

Chemical:

  • toxic and irritating effect of harmful substances on the human body.

Psychophysiological

  • neuropsychic overload (monotony of labor).

1.4. At work with harmful and dangerous working conditions, as well as work associated with pollution or carried out in adverse temperature conditions, production personnel are issued free of charge, according to established standards, special clothing, special footwear and other personal protective equipment. Soap is also provided free of charge according to the established norms.

1.5. In the performance of their duties, personnel must comply with the requirements of sanitary standards and personal hygiene:

  • start work only in personal protective equipment;
  • accept and keep the workplace clean and tidy during the shift;
  • store and eat food only in specially designated places;
  • after work, wash contaminated areas of the body.

2. Safety requirements before starting work

Before starting work, the staff must:

2.1. Check personal protective equipment, put them on.

2.2. Turn on the supply and exhaust ventilation 15-20 minutes before starting work.

2.3. Before starting the vacuum pump, check:

  • availability and integrity of grounding;
  • condition of the V-belt guard;
  • oil level and purity;
  • serviceability of the valve and dispenser;
  • tightness of the stuffing box and pipelines.

2.4. If the motor is switched off, check the correct rotation of the rotor.

2.5. In case of detected malfunctions of equipment and collective protective equipment, notify the work manager and do not start work until the detected malfunctions are eliminated.

3. Safety requirements during work

3.1. The pumping pressure must not exceed the value specified in the manufacturer's passport.

3.2. The pump must be started in the following order:

  • open the valve to the oil sight glass;
  • open the valve of the pipeline supplying water to the pump;
  • close the dispenser;
  • open the oil pipeline valve;
  • turn on the pump;
  • when pumping out gas mixtures with water vapor, open the dispenser;
  • open the intake manifold valve.

3.3. When the pump is not running, the oil line valve must be closed, as oil can fill the pump by gravity, which will make it difficult to start.

3.4. Excess oil must be removed from the pump.

To do this, turn off the pump, close the valve on the oil line and manually turn the rotary mechanism by the pump pulley.

Hang a poster on the trigger: "Do not turn it on! People are working!".

3.5. To ensure the safe operation of the pump, you should:

  • systematically monitor the oil level, which should be at the level of the slot in the casing of the oil sight glass;
  • periodically (once a week) add vacuum oil;
  • periodically drain accumulated water from the sump;
  • systematically monitor cooling, preventing overheating of the pump;
  • periodically monitor the surface temperature of the electric motor (the value indicated in the manufacturer's passport);
  • monitor vibration levels.

3.6. Smoking and drinking alcohol, as well as being in the workplace in a state of alcoholic and drug intoxication is prohibited.

3.7. If malfunctions are detected during work at the workplace, in equipment and collective protective equipment, it is necessary to stop work, turn off equipment and devices. Report this to the work manager and do not resume work without his instructions.

4. Safety requirements at the end of work

4.1. Turn off equipment.

To stop the pump:

  • close the intake manifold valve;
  • close the dispenser;
  • close the oil line valve and turn off the pump;
  • shut off the water supply valve.

4.2. If any shortcomings are found in the operation of the equipment and means of collective protection, notify the immediate supervisor of the work or another official.

5. Safety requirements in emergency situations

Emergency situations include:

  • depressurization of technological pipelines, equipment or containers with the release of the product, its vapors, dust into the production and environment;
  • ignition of technological pipelines, equipment, product and SI3;
  • disconnection of power supply of collective protection means, breakage or short circuit of electrical communications, electrical equipment.

5.1. In the event of a fire, production personnel must:

  • stop the operation of the pump, for which: close the valve of the inlet pipeline, close the dispenser, close the valve of the oil pipeline and turn off the pump, close the valve of the water supply;
  • turn off electricity, ventilation;
  • immediately report the incident to the supervisor or other official;
  • to notify workers about the occurrence of a fire by shouting;
  • close windows and doors with adjacent rooms; start extinguishing the fire with the available primary fire extinguishing equipment (fire extinguisher, sand). Extinguish fires in electrical wiring and electrical equipment only with carbon dioxide fire extinguishers.

5.2. In case of injury:

5.2.1. An eyewitness, an employee who discovered it, or the victim himself must immediately inform the immediate supervisor of the work or another official about each accident and take measures to provide the necessary assistance.

5.2.2. Until the arrival of the investigation commission, keep the workplace and equipment in the same condition as they were at the time of the incident (if this does not threaten the life and health of the surrounding workers and does not lead to more serious consequences), and take measures to prevent such cases In current situation.

5.3. The procedure for providing first aid in case of injury (poisoning):

5.3.1. Production personnel must take measures to provide the necessary assistance to the victim in case of accidents before the arrival of a doctor.

5.3.2. First aid sequence:

  • eliminate the impact on the body of damaging factors that threaten the health and life of the victim (free from the action of electric current, remove from the contaminated atmosphere, extinguish burning clothes, etc.);
  • determine the nature and severity of the injury, the greatest threat to the life of the victim and the sequence of measures to save him;
  • perform the necessary measures to save the victim in order of urgency (restore airway patency, perform artificial respiration, external heart massage, stop bleeding, immobilize the fracture site, apply a bandage, etc.);
  • support the basic vital functions of the victim until the arrival of a medical worker;
  • call an ambulance or a doctor, or take measures to transport the victim to the nearest medical facility.
  • assistance to the victim, provided by non-medical workers, should not replace the assistance of medical personnel and should be provided only until the arrival of a doctor.

5.3.3. Specific actions to provide first aid to the victim with various injuries are described in the instructions for providing first (pre-medical) medical care, which is studied by production personnel during the initial and subsequent briefings on labor protection issues.
