Safe Operation

1. General requirements for labor protection

1.1. Persons at least 18 years of age who have passed a medical commission and have a special certificate are allowed to work as a pharmacy packer. education and on-the-job training.

1.2. The pharmacy packer must be aware of the hazards involved in the preparation of medicinal products.

1.3. Follow the safety rules when working with toxic medicinal substances, in accordance with the order of the Ministry of Health of the Russian Federation No. 523 dated 03.07.98.

1.4. Be sure to use overalls, and, if necessary, protective devices (respirator, goggles).

1.5. Follow the instructions for the sanitary regime in the pharmacy (Order No. 581 of April 30, 1986).

2. Labor protection requirements before starting work

2.1. Before starting work, put on a clean dressing gown, cap, carefully tuck your hair.

2.2. Wash hands with warm water with a brush and soap, paying special attention to cleanliness under the nails.

3. Labor protection requirements during work

3.1. Monitor the integrity of pharmacy utensils, cylinders, funnels; if there are defects, it is forbidden to use.

3.2. Take precautions when packing hydrogen (do not allow it to be heated in closed vessels), potassium permanganate, tincture of iodine and other strong oxidizing agents (avoid contact with reducing agents).

3.3. Follow the rules for corking bottles: (when corking, the bottle should be held in weight by the neck, screwing in the cork).

3.4. When working with an autoclave, persons are allowed at least 18 years of age, trained in the prescribed manner, having a certificate with a photograph and who have been instructed at the workplace.

3.5. When performing auxiliary work related to the transfer of weights and the transfusion of liquids from large vessels, use a trolley, a device for pumping liquids, a cylinder holder. In the absence of the above, it is necessary to lift large cylinders only with two people. Hand carrying weights should not exceed 10 kg.

3.6. When performing packing work, more widely use instruments and apparatus for small-scale mechanization.

4. Labor protection requirements in emergency situations

4.1. In the event of an emergency, take measures to evacuate material assets in accordance with the evacuation plan in case of fire or other natural disaster.

4.2. If acid or alkali gets on the skin of the hands or face, immediately wash the area with plenty of water.

4.3. Know how to provide first aid.

5. Labor protection requirements at the end of work

5.1. Wash your hands with soap and water, take off your overalls, check the order at the workplace.

Scientists have edited the yeast genome to produce a key ingredient in drugs for age-related dementia and Parkinson's disease.

Researchers at Imperial College London and the National University of Singapore have been able to turn friendly mushrooms into biofactories to produce a chemical compound, an alkaloid used in drugs for dementia and Parkinson's disease.

Today, this alkaloid is obtained from extracts of ergot, a parasitic fungus that infects wheat and rye. From 10 to 15 tons of compound are produced annually. Growing ergot in such volumes for medical purposes harms the environment. Therefore, the researchers decided to try an alternative method using yeast.

The scientists isolated genes from ergot and inserted many variations of them into the genome of baker's yeast to produce a cell that could make a key drug ingredient.

"Yeast has been a key part of human civilization for thousands of years, helping us bake bread and brew beer. But our relationship with this familiar microbe is evolving. We've been able to use fungal cells to act as miniature factories for producing drug precursors," says Paul. Fremont, professor at Imperial College London and one of the leaders of the study.

Baker's yeast was also one of the first cellular organisms whose genome was studied in detail. This made them an ideal model for genetic engineering. Using the same fermentation process used to make beer and bread, the modified yeast consumed sugar and produced about 2 mg of the compound in a 1 liter reactor.
