Occupational Safety and Health / Legislative basis for labor protection

Decree of the Ministry of Labor of Russia dated March 31, 2003 No. 14 approved the "List of industries, professions and positions, work in which gives the right to free medical and preventive nutrition in connection with especially harmful working conditions, rations for therapeutic and preventive nutrition, norms for the free distribution of vitamin preparations, rules for the free distribution of therapeutic and preventive nutrition.

The entire list with additions contains 3233 names of industries, professions and positions.

The documents contain rations for therapeutic and preventive nutrition, norms for the free distribution of therapeutic and preventive nutrition.

It should be noted that the provision of therapeutic and preventive nutrition is "tied" not to harmful production factors (chemical, biological, radiation nature), as in the case of providing milk or other equivalent food products, but to specific industries, professions and positions.

It should be noted that due to the increase in the volume and range of outsourcing work, in practice there is often a problem of providing contractors with therapeutic and preventive nutrition.

Therapeutic and preventive nutrition is supposed to:

a) employees of other industries of organizations and workers employed in construction, construction and installation, repair and construction and commissioning works, working full-time in existing industries with especially harmful working conditions, in which both the main workers and the repair personnel are provided issuance of therapeutic and preventive nutrition;

b) workers cleaning and preparing equipment for repair or conservation in the workshop (on the site) of the organization, for workers of which the issuance of therapeutic and preventive nutrition is provided.

The issues of providing employees of contracting organizations with therapeutic and preventive nutrition should be taken into account when concluding a contract for the performance of work.

Additional compensations and benefits to employees are determined by a collective agreement or agreement, taking into account the specifics of work in a particular area (workplace).

People with synesthesia are better at smelling 25.08.2017

Synesthesia is an unusual phenomenon in which a sensation received from one sense organ immediately causes a sensation in another. The most common type of synesthesia is letter-color synesthesia, in which the perception of letters is associated in a person with a sense of color. At the same time, olfactory-color synesthesia (the ratio of smells with flowers) is much less common - for example, only about 6% of people with synesthesia "see smells".

Researchers from the University of Nijmegen in the Netherlands conducted an experiment in which they asked six olfactory-color synesthetes and seventeen non-synesthetes to complete a battery of tests to determine their olfactory and color perception. The results showed that synesthetes were better at perceiving both colors and smells; it turned out that they were more consistent and accurate in naming the latter.

The scientists note that this is the first time that improved perception has been recorded in the modality that causes synesthesia and the modality where synesthesia is experienced.
