I. General Provisions

The commissioning and testing technician belongs to the category of specialists.
The Adjustment and Testing Technician reports directly to _______.
For the position:

a person with a secondary vocational (technical) education is appointed as a setup and testing technician without presenting any work experience requirements;
installation and testing equipment of category II - a person with secondary vocational (technical) education and work experience in the position of technician or other positions filled by specialists with secondary vocational education for at least 2 years;
installation and testing technician of category I - a person with secondary vocational (technical) education and work experience as a technician of category II for at least 2 years.

Appointment to the position of adjustment and testing technician and dismissal from it is made by order of the director of the enterprise upon the recommendation of _______.
The commissioning and testing technician must know:

regulatory, methodological and other guidance materials for installation and commissioning work.
organization of start-up and adjustment works.
main technical characteristics, features of kinematic diagrams and designs of units and elements of systems and devices being adjusted and tested.
methods for measuring parameters, characteristics and operating modes of equipment.
rules for using measuring instruments and tools, devices.
the procedure for inspecting equipment, methods for detecting its defects.
rules for drawing up acts and other technical documentation.
fundamentals of economics, scientific organization of labor and organization of production.
fundamentals of labor law.
rules and norms of labor protection, safety measures, industrial sanitation and fire protection.

During the absence of the setup and testing technician (illness, vacation, business trip, etc.), his duties are performed by a person appointed in the prescribed manner. This person acquires the corresponding rights and is responsible for the proper performance of the duties assigned to him.

II. Official duties

Technician for commissioning and testing:

Under the guidance of a commissioning and testing engineer, performs commissioning (testing) of various types of equipment and systems (electrical equipment, technical equipment, ventilation, etc.), establishes compliance of the technical characteristics of the installed equipment and installation work with technical and design documentation, identifies defects in work and equipment, ensures their elimination.
Participates in the preparation of schedules and programs for commissioning work, in the development of measures for occupational health, safety, industrial sanitation and fire protection during commissioning work, in the acceptance of equipment after tests performed by the installation organization.
Connects devices, registers the necessary characteristics and parameters, and processes the results obtained.
Participates in carrying out the necessary calculations, as well as in testing and adjusting equipment idle, under load and during comprehensive testing.
Draws up acts in the forms established by current regulatory documents, indicating in them the volumes of commissioning work performed.
Performs individual official assignments of his immediate supervisor.

III. Rights

The adjustment and testing technician has the right to:

Get acquainted with the draft decisions of the management of the enterprise relating to its activities.
Submit proposals for the management to improve the work related to the duties provided for in this job description.
Notify the immediate supervisor of all shortcomings in the production activities of the enterprise (its structural divisions) identified in the course of the performance of their duties and make proposals for their elimination.
Request personally or on behalf of the immediate supervisor from the heads of enterprise departments and specialists information and documents necessary for the performance of his duties.
Involve specialists from all (individual) structural divisions in solving the tasks assigned to him (if this is provided for by the regulations on structural divisions, if not, then with the permission of the management).
Require the management of the enterprise to assist in the performance of his duties and rights.

IV. A responsibility

The commissioning and testing technician is responsible for:

For improper performance or non-performance of their official duties provided for by this Job Description - within the limits determined by the current labor legislation of Ukraine.
For offenses committed in the course of carrying out their activities - within the limits determined by the current administrative, criminal and civil legislation of Ukraine.
For causing material damage - within the limits determined by the current labor and civil legislation of Ukraine.

Revolutionary water desalination method 22.11.2022

A team led by the King Abdullah University of Science and Technology (KAUST) has developed ultra-thin polymer-based membranes that remove salt from seawater more efficiently than anything else.

Yu Han, a researcher at KAUST and one of the authors of the technology, explained that existing desalination techniques have many shortcomings. For example, the latest graphene-coated carbon nanotube membranes, which were supposed to be resistant to salt and powerful water flow, still turned out to be impractical due to difficulties in installation and use.

Khan and his colleagues introduced an alternative to the world - membranes coated with triethynylbenzene monomer. This made it possible to form a surface with sub-nanometer-sized cells that let water through and retain salt.

The membranes have already shown excellent performance in direct and reverse osmosis.

The team is currently working on improving the mechanical strength and chemical resistance of the membrane. After that, the device will be put into mass production.

"Our ultimate goal is to provide a versatile, robust and feature-rich platform capable of performing multiple tasks such as ion sieving and single molecule detection," Khan says.
