I. General Provisions

The main tasks of an infectious disease doctor are to carry out organizational and methodological work and provide qualified advice on the early detection and treatment of patients with infectious and parasitic diseases living in the area of the clinic, as well as workers and employees of attached enterprises.
The position of an infectious disease physician is assigned to a physician who has received special training in infectious diseases.
The appointment and dismissal of an infectious disease specialist is carried out by the chief physician of the polyclinic in accordance with applicable law.
The infectious disease doctor in his work reports directly to the deputy chief physician for medical affairs, and in his absence, to the chief physician of the polyclinic.
The paramedical staff of the office is subordinate to the infectious disease doctor.
In his work, the infectious disease specialist is guided by:

current legislation of Ukraine,
guidelines and orders of municipal health authorities,
this Job Description, as well as guidelines for improving the organization of medical care for infectious patients.

II. Official duties

Carry out outpatient appointments according to the schedule approved by the administration of the polyclinic, regulating the flow of visitors through the rational distribution of repeat patients.
To carry out the treatment of infectious patients in outpatient conditions and aftercare of convalescents after discharge from the hospital.
Provide control over the complete clinical and bacteriological recovery of infectious patients using methods of instrumental and laboratory research.
Conduct dispensary observation and sanitation of convalescents, patients with chronic infectious diseases, bacterio- and parasite carriers.
Provide advisory assistance to patients in the clinic and at home in order to clarify the diagnosis, prescribe therapeutic and preventive measures and resolve issues of hospitalization.
To carry out an examination of temporary disability of patients in accordance with the Regulations in force on it.
Advise general practitioners on the examination of patients suspected of having an infectious disease, and on the procedure for referring them for a final diagnosis in the office of infectious diseases.
Provide advisory assistance to district physicians in carrying out measures to combat helminthic and parasitic diseases.
Carry out systematic work to improve the knowledge of medical and paramedical personnel of the polyclinic in matters of infectious pathology.
To analyze at conferences all cases of untimely detection of infectious patients or their unreasonable referral to the office of infectious diseases.
Keep records of patients with infectious diseases, bacteria and parasite carriers on the basis of emergency notices of infectious diseases sent to the center of state sanitary and epidemiological surveillance.
To analyze the work on the implementation of preventive vaccinations and the dynamics of infectious morbidity and mortality, the quality and effectiveness of diagnostic and therapeutic measures, clinical examination, anti-relapse treatment in the area of the city polyclinic.
To draw up, together with the Center for State Sanitary and Epidemiological Surveillance, a comprehensive plan to combat infectious diseases.
Follow the principles of deontology in your work.
Organize and conduct propaganda of sanitary and hygienic knowledge on the prevention of infectious diseases among the population.
Supervise and supervise the work of the middle medical. staff of the infectious disease department.
Systematically improve their professional qualifications and the level of medical knowledge of the cabinet nurses.
Keep medical records of outpatients, write prescriptions.
Ensure proper medical records are kept by the office nurse.

III. Rights

The infectious disease doctor has the right:

make proposals to the administration of the polyclinic on improving the organization of medical and preventive care for the population, working conditions for the medical staff of the office;
participate in meetings on the organization of care for infectious patients;
prescribe and cancel any therapeutic and preventive measures, based on the patient's condition;
receive information necessary for the performance of official duties;
to present subordinates at work to the nursing staff for incentives and make proposals for the imposition of penalties in case of violation of labor discipline, unsatisfactory performance of official duties.

IV. A responsibility

The infectious disease specialist is responsible for:

poor quality work and erroneous actions;
inaction and failure to make decisions that fall within the scope of his duties and competence, in accordance with the current legislation of Ukraine.
