HIV infection, AIDS - a severe viral disease characterized by a deep damage to the body's immune system, the addition of secondary concomitant infections and the formation of tumors or a progressive lesion of the central nervous system. AIDS develops as a result of infection with human immunodeficiency viruses (HIV), which contain a special enzyme that allows them to integrate into the genetic apparatus of some body cells and remain in them throughout a person's life. The highest concentration of HIV is observed in blood, semen, vaginal discharge and cerebrospinal fluid.

The transmission of the virus occurs during sexual perversion (homosexuality), during normal sexual intercourse with people who are carriers of HIV or AIDS patients. Infection can occur through blood transfusion of virus carriers or drugs derived from such blood. Infection is possible when using non-sterile syringes, instruments for manipulation, leading to a violation of the integrity of the skin and mucous membranes. Transmission of the virus from an infected mother to a newborn may occur. In this regard, women infected with HIV are advised to terminate their pregnancy.

HIV transmission is not observed during normal contact, shaking hands, talking, coughing, using common utensils and other household items, a bathroom, bath, etc. The virus is not transmitted when caring for an AIDS patient at home and when sick and healthy children stay together in schools and preschool institutions. Insects are not involved in the transmission of HIV.

Clinical manifestations of AIDS are associated with the nature of the secondary disease. In some infected, the first manifestations of the disease occur after 2-3 weeks, fever, sweating, weakness, pain in the joints and muscles appear and disappear after 3-14 days. After 2-3 weeks, antibodies to HIV can be detected in the blood of a person infected with the AIDS virus by laboratory methods. In the future, clinical manifestations may be absent for a long time, and HIV can only be detected by laboratory methods.

Medications for the treatment of AIDS and vaccines against AIDS are not yet available, and the world is actively working to obtain them.

Prevention of infection with the AIDS virus depends on the nature of human behavior. Casual sexual relations, sexual contacts with homosexuals, drug addicts and persons leading a promiscuous life should be avoided. The use of condoms reduces the risk of infection. The use of random injection syringes should be avoided, and sterilized or disposable syringes, which are always sold in pharmacies, should be used.

A New Way to Control and Manipulate Optical Signals 05.05.2024

The modern world of science and technology is developing rapidly, and every day new methods and technologies appear that open up new prospects for us in various fields. One such innovation is the development by German scientists of a new way to control optical signals, which could lead to significant progress in the field of photonics. Recent research has allowed German scientists to create a tunable waveplate inside a fused silica waveguide. This method, based on the use of a liquid crystal layer, allows one to effectively change the polarization of light passing through a waveguide. This technological breakthrough opens up new prospects for the development of compact and efficient photonic devices capable of processing large volumes of data. The electro-optical control of polarization provided by the new method could provide the basis for a new class of integrated photonic devices. This opens up great opportunities for ... >>

Primium Seneca keyboard 05.05.2024

Keyboards are an integral part of our daily computer work. However, one of the main problems that users face is noise, especially in the case of premium models. But with the new Seneca keyboard from Norbauer & Co, that may change. Seneca is not just a keyboard, it is the result of five years of development work to create the ideal device. Every aspect of this keyboard, from acoustic properties to mechanical characteristics, has been carefully considered and balanced. One of the key features of Seneca is its silent stabilizers, which solve the noise problem common to many keyboards. In addition, the keyboard supports various key widths, making it convenient for any user. Although Seneca is not yet available for purchase, it is scheduled for release in late summer. Norbauer & Co's Seneca represents new standards in keyboard design. Her ... >>

The world's tallest astronomical observatory opened 04.05.2024

Exploring space and its mysteries is a task that attracts the attention of astronomers from all over the world. In the fresh air of the high mountains, far from city light pollution, the stars and planets reveal their secrets with greater clarity. A new page is opening in the history of astronomy with the opening of the world's highest astronomical observatory - the Atacama Observatory of the University of Tokyo. The Atacama Observatory, located at an altitude of 5640 meters above sea level, opens up new opportunities for astronomers in the study of space. This site has become the highest location for a ground-based telescope, providing researchers with a unique tool for studying infrared waves in the Universe. Although the high altitude location provides clearer skies and less interference from the atmosphere, building an observatory on a high mountain poses enormous difficulties and challenges. However, despite the difficulties, the new observatory opens up broad research prospects for astronomers. ... >>

VW ID.AERO electric sedan concept 01.07.2022

The German automaker Volkswagen Group has officially unveiled the sixth electric concept from the ID brand line - the VW ID.AERO sedan (previous models: ID.3, ID.4, ID.5, ID.6 and ID. Buzz).

The brand positions the novelty as a flagship mid-size sedan (premium mid-size sedan) in a progressive stylish aerodynamic design, designed for a younger audience. This five-meter sedan doesn't just look aerodynamic - the coupe-style sloping roofline has reduced the drag coefficient to 0,23.

The VW ID.AERO electric vehicle is built on the MEB platform and is equipped with a 77 kWh battery that provides a range of 620 km (385 miles) on the WLTP cycle. Serial production and sales of the model will start in the second half of 2023 in China and Europe, while the novelty will become a global model, that is, it will be sold in Europe, the USA and China.
