Perhaps, it can be called the first and most accessible flying model for a child, made with his own hands. And indeed, to make a paper dove, neither a tool nor special materials are required - just take an ordinary typewritten sheet and bend it several times. And here's how - the baby needs to be shown at least once: the second time he will easily repeat these simple actions himself. When the child has firmly mastered the initial version, he will want the dove to fly better. That's when you tell him a little secret.

So, let's start: bend the upper right corner of the typewritten sheet (1) until it touches the side edge of the paper (2) and carefully smooth the fold line with your finger. Then straighten the sheet and do the same with the other top corner (3). Now grab the side edges of the sheet with both hands and pull them towards each other - the sheet will fold into figure 4, which you also carefully smooth.

To the resulting new upper corner, alternately bend both former upper corners (5) - get a square (6), in which the left and right corners bend up until they touch the middle line (7). Straighten them back and alternately bend again, but down, again until they touch the middle line (8), each time carefully ironing (pressing) the folds. Now bend both of these corners in the middle with two fingers - get a kind of horns (9). Bend a sheet under them (10) - the horns will turn into a beak (11) - and the dove is ready. Slightly bend it with a boat along the line of the beak - and you can let it go: the dove in flight will resemble a real one. That's just ... tailless.

It's hard for a bird to fly without a tail. Here we will open the promised secret. Pay attention to the dotted line passing in the middle of the wings in Figure 11: bend the “wings” of the dove along it and tear off the resulting strip. Make a tail out of it (12). To do this, bend the corners at one end until they meet each other, and bend the entire strip along. The tail blank is ready, it remains to connect it with the dove. To do this, straighten the latter, returning to figure 10, and insert the strip with a sharp end until it stops, then bend the figure back - you will get a dove with a tail (13).

However, this is not the whole secret. Notice the dotted lines on the dove's wings (13). Bend the latter along them so that you get two plates directed upwards - wing washers (14).

Now the flight of the dove will be smooth, beautiful and stable, bringing a lot of joy to the child.

A New Way to Control and Manipulate Optical Signals 05.05.2024

The modern world of science and technology is developing rapidly, and every day new methods and technologies appear that open up new prospects for us in various fields. One such innovation is the development by German scientists of a new way to control optical signals, which could lead to significant progress in the field of photonics. Recent research has allowed German scientists to create a tunable waveplate inside a fused silica waveguide. This method, based on the use of a liquid crystal layer, allows one to effectively change the polarization of light passing through a waveguide. This technological breakthrough opens up new prospects for the development of compact and efficient photonic devices capable of processing large volumes of data. The electro-optical control of polarization provided by the new method could provide the basis for a new class of integrated photonic devices. This opens up great opportunities for ... >>

Primium Seneca keyboard 05.05.2024

Keyboards are an integral part of our daily computer work. However, one of the main problems that users face is noise, especially in the case of premium models. But with the new Seneca keyboard from Norbauer & Co, that may change. Seneca is not just a keyboard, it is the result of five years of development work to create the ideal device. Every aspect of this keyboard, from acoustic properties to mechanical characteristics, has been carefully considered and balanced. One of the key features of Seneca is its silent stabilizers, which solve the noise problem common to many keyboards. In addition, the keyboard supports various key widths, making it convenient for any user. Although Seneca is not yet available for purchase, it is scheduled for release in late summer. Norbauer & Co's Seneca represents new standards in keyboard design. Her ... >>

The world's tallest astronomical observatory opened 04.05.2024

Exploring space and its mysteries is a task that attracts the attention of astronomers from all over the world. In the fresh air of the high mountains, far from city light pollution, the stars and planets reveal their secrets with greater clarity. A new page is opening in the history of astronomy with the opening of the world's highest astronomical observatory - the Atacama Observatory of the University of Tokyo. The Atacama Observatory, located at an altitude of 5640 meters above sea level, opens up new opportunities for astronomers in the study of space. This site has become the highest location for a ground-based telescope, providing researchers with a unique tool for studying infrared waves in the Universe. Although the high altitude location provides clearer skies and less interference from the atmosphere, building an observatory on a high mountain poses enormous difficulties and challenges. However, despite the difficulties, the new observatory opens up broad research prospects for astronomers. ... >>

Headphones will warn of loss of consciousness 18.06.2023

Digital health startup STAT Health has developed innovative headphones that can track blood flow to the head and warn of fainting. This technological solution can be especially useful for people suffering from diseases associated with dizziness, and allows you to predict the deterioration of their health.

According to STAT Health's CEO, Daniel Li, many physicians find it difficult to determine the cause of uncomfortable symptoms such as dizziness because there are no precise methods of measurement. However, with the help of new headphones, it becomes possible to confirm the presence of problems and collect reliable information about the condition of patients.

It is important to note that these headphones are not a form of treatment, but rather serve as an information tool that allows people with serious medical conditions that cause dizziness and blackouts to monitor their health indicators.

The device is small and placed at the top of the ear. It can be easily combined with other devices such as glasses or other headphones. The headphone speaker includes an optical sensor, an accelerometer, a pressure sensor, and temperature sensors. The battery capacity allows you to use the headphones for more than three days, in addition, they are equipped with a small solar panel for automatic recharging. Thus, users can stay connected and receive data even while sleeping or showering.

STAT Health said that a subscription to use their product will cost $50 per month, however there will be a discount for long-term subscribers. The company is currently accepting pre-orders that require a $1 deposit.
