Cord racing model 2,5 cm3 class was developed and manufactured in the auto-modeling laboratory of the Palace of Pioneers and Schoolchildren of the Pervomaisky district of Moscow under the direction of A. Pyatibratov. The model is the winner of the national championships in 1977-1978. Designed for the KMD-2,5 engine, the diameter of the driving wheels is 80 mm. With a properly adjusted and well-rolled engine, a model of this type develops a speed of about 170 km / h. Particular attention during the development was paid to the reliability of all units.

According to the established tradition, the design began with sketches of the general view and layout of the main units. Many years of experience in sea trials have shown that the most reliable in operation will be a box-type gearbox with spaced bearings, in a non-cantilever one, in which, due to the small distance between the bearings, they often fail, which disrupts the quality of the engagement. For the same reasons (reliability), the gearbox housing is made of steel 45-normalized. The case is made of two halves and has a connector on a horizontal plane. The halves are fixed with three pins Ø 2 mm and four M3 screws. Holes for bearings No. 1000 096 of the driven gear are bored in the housing.

Borings for bearings are made on a jig boring machine after assembling the halves of the gearbox housing. This operation can also be performed on the faceplate of a lathe with a rotary fixture. However, in the latter case, it is difficult to achieve exact alignment of the axes. The assembly of the gearbox and the adjustment of the gear engagement must be carried out "on the paint" under the supervision of an experienced mechanic. The gearbox after assembly and flushing has a smooth ride with minimal engagement gaps. The axial play of the complete shafts must not exceed 0,05 mm, it is also very dangerous to "clamp" the bearings.

This model uses gears made of steel 38KhMYuA, nitrided after final processing to a depth of 0,1-0,15 mm, followed by fine-tuning of seats for bearings. Number of teeth: Z1=14, Z2=27. Hardness - HRc=60.

Gearbox sprung type. The tail section is mounted in guides between two compression springs.

The rear wheels of a collapsible type are mounted on the pinion shaft using split cones. The collapsible design, in our opinion, is the most perfect, easy to manufacture, apparently, therefore, many leading modellers use it on their cords. The wheels can be mounted on the hubs, and the hubs on the shaft using a cylindrical key and M4 screws. This mounting option improves the accuracy of wheel alignment and allows for repeated assembly and disassembly of the gearbox.

Cantilever front suspension. The wheels are non-separable, made of sheet duralumin, on which a layer of rubber 4-5 mm thick is vulcanized with the help of a leucopath. The front wheels are mounted on etu-faces, and bores are made in them for 4X9 bearings (two in each hub). Tank model - open type, made of tin 0,3-0,5 mm thick. The outlet of the supply tube from the tank coincides with the longitudinal axis.

The pallet - the lower part of the body - is made after all components and assemblies are ready. On a milling machine made of D16T, D1T or aluminum-magnesium alloy AMG-6, the pallet is milled according to preliminary marking. Particular attention should be paid to the alignment of the motor and gearbox, this will facilitate their assembly and alignment. It is also desirable to install an intermediate cardan shaft between the flywheel and the gear, and the distance between the studs can be only 12-15 mm.

The fairing of the model is glued from fiberglass with a thickness of 0,3-0,5 mm with epoxy resin on a blank, struts made of aircraft plywood are placed inside. The fairing is painted after processing with nitro paint and varnished. The lower part of the case is sanded and polished with GOI paste.

Artificial leather for touch emulation 15.04.2024

In a modern technology world where distance is becoming increasingly commonplace, maintaining connection and a sense of closeness is important. Recent developments in artificial skin by German scientists from Saarland University represent a new era in virtual interactions. German researchers from Saarland University have developed ultra-thin films that can transmit the sensation of touch over a distance. This cutting-edge technology provides new opportunities for virtual communication, especially for those who find themselves far from their loved ones. The ultra-thin films developed by the researchers, just 50 micrometers thick, can be integrated into textiles and worn like a second skin. These films act as sensors that recognize tactile signals from mom or dad, and as actuators that transmit these movements to the baby. Parents' touch to the fabric activates sensors that react to pressure and deform the ultra-thin film. This ... >>

Petgugu Global cat litter 15.04.2024

Taking care of pets can often be a challenge, especially when it comes to keeping your home clean. A new interesting solution from the Petgugu Global startup has been presented, which will make life easier for cat owners and help them keep their home perfectly clean and tidy. Startup Petgugu Global has unveiled a unique cat toilet that can automatically flush feces, keeping your home clean and fresh. This innovative device is equipped with various smart sensors that monitor your pet's toilet activity and activate to automatically clean after use. The device connects to the sewer system and ensures efficient waste removal without the need for intervention from the owner. Additionally, the toilet has a large flushable storage capacity, making it ideal for multi-cat households. The Petgugu cat litter bowl is designed for use with water-soluble litters and offers a range of additional ... >>

The attractiveness of caring men 14.04.2024

The stereotype that women prefer "bad boys" has long been widespread. However, recent research conducted by British scientists from Monash University offers a new perspective on this issue. They looked at how women responded to men's emotional responsibility and willingness to help others. The study's findings could change our understanding of what makes men attractive to women. A study conducted by scientists from Monash University leads to new findings about men's attractiveness to women. In the experiment, women were shown photographs of men with brief stories about their behavior in various situations, including their reaction to an encounter with a homeless person. Some of the men ignored the homeless man, while others helped him, such as buying him food. A study found that men who showed empathy and kindness were more attractive to women compared to men who showed empathy and kindness. ... >>

Green polyethylene 14.03.2009

At a conference on bioplastics held in 2008 in Cologne (Germany), Brazilian chemists talked about their new development: they learned how to make polyethylene from sugar cane.

First, ethyl alcohol is obtained from sugar cane using a routine process, and then the alcohol is converted into ethylene by a dehydration reaction. Finally, ethylene is polymerized in the usual way. By-products are mainly water with a small amount of ether and unreacted alcohol.

"Green" polyethylene is no different from conventional polyethylene, except for small differences in the isotopic composition of carbon (plant carbon is slightly different from oil carbon). So if a company begins to claim that its polyethylene is produced without harming the environment, then this statement can be verified by carbon isotopes.
