SIEMENS A40

Siemens A40 belongs to the class of budget phones, or entry-level devices, and is a logical continuation of the line of Siemens A35/A36 models. Externally, the phone has changed slightly, in particular, a plastic insert appeared around the display, under which you can place pictures, thereby transforming the design of the device. In total, the phone comes with 4 pictures pasted on one sheet of paper. I installed a sheet of silver color on my device. A special hole is provided under the call key, allowing you to pry off the plastic insert.

The phone is big, weighs 122 grams. The back cover is very convex despite using the same battery as the A35/A36, a 600 mAh NiMH battery. According to the manufacturer, standby time is up to 150 hours, talk time - up to 240 minutes. In reality, the phone is able to work for 2-3 days with 10-15 minutes of calls per day, the full charge time is a little less than 2 hours. One of the innovations was the appearance of a call mode (this is a beep). In fact, this is a variant of a vibrating alert, only it is very weak - the phone really buzzes and almost does not vibrate. It would be hard to call such a vibrating alert option extremely useful, since you can feel the signal only if you wear the phone pressed against your body. There are 15 tones and very pleasant melodies to choose from.

The keyboard is made of rubber, the top keys are covered with silver paint. There are no problems with pressing, everything is more or less convenient.

The display is the same as in the A35, so the menu is the same. In terms of functional equipment, these devices are twin brothers, with the exception of the features listed above. It is also worth noting the presence of lists of the last 10 sent and received calls, as well as a list of the last 5 missed calls. The phone is available in 7 colors: anthracite black, bright blue, curacao blue, raspberry red, apple green, lemon yellow and citrus orange.

Technical and functional features are similar to Siemens A35.

The sensitivity of the device is quite decent; the phone showed itself well in urban conditions, there are no communication failures; speaker volume is enough to carry on conversations. There are no problems with sound either.

Artificial leather for touch emulation 15.04.2024

In a modern technology world where distance is becoming increasingly commonplace, maintaining connection and a sense of closeness is important. Recent developments in artificial skin by German scientists from Saarland University represent a new era in virtual interactions. German researchers from Saarland University have developed ultra-thin films that can transmit the sensation of touch over a distance. This cutting-edge technology provides new opportunities for virtual communication, especially for those who find themselves far from their loved ones. The ultra-thin films developed by the researchers, just 50 micrometers thick, can be integrated into textiles and worn like a second skin. These films act as sensors that recognize tactile signals from mom or dad, and as actuators that transmit these movements to the baby. Parents' touch to the fabric activates sensors that react to pressure and deform the ultra-thin film. This ... >>

Petgugu Global cat litter 15.04.2024

Taking care of pets can often be a challenge, especially when it comes to keeping your home clean. A new interesting solution from the Petgugu Global startup has been presented, which will make life easier for cat owners and help them keep their home perfectly clean and tidy. Startup Petgugu Global has unveiled a unique cat toilet that can automatically flush feces, keeping your home clean and fresh. This innovative device is equipped with various smart sensors that monitor your pet's toilet activity and activate to automatically clean after use. The device connects to the sewer system and ensures efficient waste removal without the need for intervention from the owner. Additionally, the toilet has a large flushable storage capacity, making it ideal for multi-cat households. The Petgugu cat litter bowl is designed for use with water-soluble litters and offers a range of additional ... >>

The attractiveness of caring men 14.04.2024

The stereotype that women prefer "bad boys" has long been widespread. However, recent research conducted by British scientists from Monash University offers a new perspective on this issue. They looked at how women responded to men's emotional responsibility and willingness to help others. The study's findings could change our understanding of what makes men attractive to women. A study conducted by scientists from Monash University leads to new findings about men's attractiveness to women. In the experiment, women were shown photographs of men with brief stories about their behavior in various situations, including their reaction to an encounter with a homeless person. Some of the men ignored the homeless man, while others helped him, such as buying him food. A study found that men who showed empathy and kindness were more attractive to women compared to men who showed empathy and kindness. ... >>

Nanorobot Generator 12.06.2007

US scientists have made a device that can power a nanorobot.

About a year ago, professor at the Georgia Institute of Technology (USA) Tsong Ling Wang proposed creating electricity generators for nanorobots using zinc oxide nanowires. This year, scientists under his leadership managed to realize the idea and make a prototype of a generator capable of delivering direct electric current. According to calculations, one cubic centimeter of such a generator can produce a huge voltage for a nanorobot - up to 4 V.

The generator is set up like this. Thousands of zinc oxide nanowires half a micron long have been grown on a gallium arsenide substrate. Between the wires and the substrate is a layer of zinc oxide - it collects electricity. And the second electrode consists of silicon oxide, on which thousands of bumps are grown, forming zigzag lines.

These tubercles are covered with platinum and are capable of conducting current. Under the action of vibration, the nanowires, firstly, generate electricity due to the piezoelectric effect, and secondly, their tips oscillate and close to the tubercles of the second electrode. This creates an electric current in the circuit.

According to the authors of the work, the generator will be useful for powering medical sensors implanted in the human body, and for autonomous sensors that monitor the state of the environment, and for hypothetical nanorobots, as well as for strengthening US defense.
