SAMSUNG SGH-R200, 210 . Mobile phone review Review R200 is the first entry-level device from Samsung. Simultaneously with it, the R210 model will be released, the characteristics are completely identical to the R200, but slightly changed in appearance (for example, it does not have a flip). For the first time, Samsung has moved away from the classic design with its characteristic sharp angles and straight shapes, making the surfaces of the R200 smooth and streamlined. The dimensions of the device are 113x48x22 mm, one might say that this is a reasonable compromise between miniature size and ease of use. The phone is pleasant to hold in your hands; its weight of 109 grams is not perceived as heavy. Despite the fact that the device has an external fixed antenna, you can easily put it in your jeans or shirt pocket. The body is made of very pleasant to the touch, slightly rough plastic. The connectors on the case are covered with rubber plugs, even the connector for charging the phone, although the plug can be removed from it immediately, since installing it after each charge is tedious. The phone's keyboard is made of plastic, the keys are backlit in green, and it is clearly visible in the dark. Above the flip (it is, of course, active) there are two scroll keys and two soft keys that can be used when the flip is closed. The keys are small and inconvenient to work with, especially the bottom row, over which the protruding edge of the flip hangs. The R200 features a new SIM card holder design with a plastic latch. In my opinion, the design has become not only more convenient, but also reliable. Oddly enough, most entry-level phones today boast lithium-ion batteries, and the R200 is no exception. The battery capacity of 600 mAh allows it to work up to 6 hours in talk mode and up to 150 hours in standby mode. When using the phone for 10-15 minutes a day, it worked for about 3 days. It takes just under 2 hours to fully charge the battery. Display, menus and functions The display of this model is graphic, has a resolution of 128x64 pixels and is backlit in a rich blue color. The screen contains three lines of text, a line of service icons at the top, and captions for the soft keys at the bottom. In standby mode, the screen displays information about the cellular operator, signal strength and battery charge, as well as whether the vibration alert is turned on. Soft keys give access to the menu and phone book. In standby mode, with the flip closed, you can turn on an animated screensaver. There are five of them in total, especially interesting, in my opinion, are the screensavers with running kangaroos and a wandering panda. In addition to screensavers, you can set the screen to display a clock, quite successfully stylized as a wall clock, with information about the date and day of the week appearing on the right. In standby mode, when the flip is closed, the phone automatically turns on the keypad lock. You can unlock it by opening the flip or holding the left soft key. A very wise decision, since in most cases the phone is not used when the flip is closed. The main menu is quite traditional, it is familiar to everyone who has ever used Samsung phones. Each menu item and sub-item has a number, which makes it possible to quickly navigate through the menu. For example, to access screen settings, you can scroll through the menu to item 4 Settings, then to screen parameters, or you can press Menu, dial 4-4 and immediately get there. Continuing the conversation about the R200, it is worth saying that, thanks to the built-in music editor, the phone has rich capabilities for recording melodies. In total, the user can enter up to 3 of his own melodies. Of course, the melody or tone of the call can be selected from those recorded initially, there are more than 20 of them. The tone of the call is quite shrill, but it nevertheless sounds pleasant and in some ways even unusual - it can be easily recognized among other calls. Any number from the phone book (the device's memory capacity is 100 cells) can be assigned an individual ringtone, and the numbers must be written down in full format (8+ area code) so that they are displayed correctly when there is an incoming call. In addition to the ringtone, you can customize the color of the service indicator. By default it is green, but can turn blue, purple, orange or red when calling. Saturated, very pleasant colors, coupled with the teardrop-shaped indicator, make the phone attractive both visually and functionally. Unfortunately, Russian-language input is not possible for this model. This is especially annoying given that many modern phones support the Cyrillic alphabet. The owner of the R200 will not only be unable to write a Russian SMS message, but also to receive one. There are 5 templates for working with SMS that can be recorded in advance; otherwise, the phone provides a standard set of functions for receiving and sending SMS. Lists of the last 10 received, 10 missed and 10 made calls are provided with time and date. The redial list is called up by pressing the call key. By the way, when connecting and ending a conversation, the phone beeps by playing a short melody; When making calls, this eliminates the need to constantly hold the receiver to your ear. Among other functions, it is worth noting the calculator: it is very simple, but, nevertheless, sometimes it turns out to be useful. The world time function shows the time relative to Greenwich on the map. The alarm can be set to go off once - in this case, only the time is set. You can also set a weekly alarm by selecting the days of the week from the list and then setting a wake-up time. The alarm clock only works when the phone is turned on; by the way, after registering on the network, information appears on the screen about whether the weekly alarm is activated. The phone has a wap browser version 1.1, which has become commonplace for phones of all price categories. The operation of the browser does not raise any questions; the settings are quite simple and commonplace. There is also an organizer that allows you, for example, to keep a to-do list. At the same time, you can set a text label for any event, as well as set an alarm for a certain time. There are 3 games for relaxation: casino, mole and hexa. The first of them is just a “one-armed bandit”, but hexa is a good logic toy that effectively helps you kill time. Subjective impressions and conclusions The sound quality of the phone is good, the sound is clear and loud enough. The sensitivity of the device is better than is usually the case with entry-level phones: the R200 maintains communication almost always and wherever possible. The vibration alert is very strong - you can feel it from the pockets of your outerwear, sometimes in a quiet room the signal can even be heard. The R200 and R210 phones are entry-level devices, which Samsung did not have until recently. The first damn thing didn’t turn out to be a big deal: well-thought-out software, a good set of functions, interesting appearance, amazing blue backlighting of the screen make this phone attractive to buyers Author: Eldar Murtazin See other articles Section Mobile Legends.
