PANASONIC EB-GD92. Mobile phone review Review Phones of this model are available in two colors, namely, titanium and blue. The first color scheme is the color of the usual matte silver (my test sample), but earlier it was called gun metal (Gun Metallic) in the company's catalog, now it's just titanium. Maybe between these concepts there is a certain shade of color, but I did not notice it. There is not much to say about the second color, since it is a rich blue color. The dimensions of the device (118x40x15 mm) allow you to comfortably talk on the phone, and its light weight of 78 grams does not cause fatigue in your hands when talking. You can hold the phone to your ear with one finger at all and there are no inconveniences. Light weight is even more respected when you know that the phone has a built-in speakerphone. You can talk with the help of this little one both in the car and at home, just putting it somewhere, and the volume of the sound is sufficient in the vast majority of cases. The hands-free speaker is located on the back of the phone, and if the device is placed on a hard surface, such as a table, the sound volume is amplified. The external fixed antenna is somewhat out of the general background in color, but for my taste, it only adds some zest to the phone. The antenna smoothly passes into the case itself, and here it disappears. It is here that the designers of this device placed a hole for attaching the strap, which, by the way, is included in the standard package. Although I do not know people who use such straps, because the phone fits easily not only in a jacket pocket (which is not new), but also in jeans, a shirt pocket. When worn in a jacket, the pocket does not protrude, which is of great importance for business people and in general for everyone who takes care of their appearance. The keypad is made of transparent plastic, except for the navigation key and buttons for accessing the phone book and menu. On most buttons, under a layer of plastic, you will see a very interesting font. Professional designers can throw a stone at me for this passage, but I really do not know the name of this font, nor what type it is. Is that what it's called? And I know that due to a well-chosen font, the phone looks more cheerful and pleasant. Believe me, it really is. When using the phone in the evening or at night, the keyboard backlight is bright enough and does not irritate the eyes. In Panasonic phones, in general, a lot of attention is paid to trifles, such as screen backlighting. In this model, you can choose from four display backlight colors, namely green, mauve, amber (deep to red), and blue. It greatly changes the style of the phone, its perception, and sometimes you really want to change the display setting. With the designation of colors in the Russian-language menu, a very funny situation turned out. I think that Russification was carried out during the development of this model, and when translating from English or even from some other language, the original meaning of the words was lost. In the English menu, one of the highlights is called amber, or amber in Russian, and indeed, there is such a backlight, it resembles illuminated amber, but the amber is not yellow, but thick and looks like blood. The translators decided that there is no such meaning in Russian and simply called such a backlight yellow. It's a shame for our great and mighty, though I'm not sure that in the 93rd model, where the number of screen backlights is somewhat larger, this blunder will be corrected. About the accuracy of the execution of the technical part of the device is also evidenced by the cap covering the headset jack. It has to be hooked with something and only then can it be pulled out. You cannot open it with your finger, and the fact that it is plastic and is not attached to the case seems to me a disadvantage (you can inadvertently lose it). But there is still a certain reason for this, since not everyone uses a telephone headset, and if it is used, then it is not at all necessary to carry a connector cap with you. The last point that requires lighting is the SIM card holder and battery mount. When installing a SIM card, it is enough just to push it all the way into the slot, it will not be able to fall out even if the battery is not installed, since it will be held by a plastic tab. To remove the card, just press the "tab" and slide the card. The installed battery creates an additional load on the card and eliminates the possibility of its accidental movements in the holder. The battery in this model is Li-Ion with a capacity of 650 mAh, which allows the phone to work in talk mode up to 210 minutes and up to 160 hours in standby mode. The real time of the phone is up to 4 days when talking up to 20 minutes a day. The battery allows not only to use the phone, but also the speakerphone, which, it seems to me, is very energy-intensive. The battery is very small in size and is attached to the phone case on one side with the help of protrusions that fit into the groove at the top, and at the bottom with a latch. The mount is secure and I think that even after a year of use, the battery will be securely located in the socket. I was struck by how accurately the battery fit to the body of the phone. So, running your hand along the body, the gaps are practically not felt or noticeable, but only a little. Therefore, special protrusions are made on its body to remove the battery. The travel charger has a latched connector on the sides. Improper connection to the phone is not possible, as you simply cannot insert the connector without great effort. Menu, phone book and how to figure it out When turned on, however, as well as turned off, the phone shows animation, but there are two of them. In the future, in the standby mode, the screen will show either the head of a parrot or a person with balloons, unless you set the operator's logo. It is possible to edit the default empty welcome message, but, however, only in English. More precisely, not only in English, but also in Greek and German, if I'm not mistaken. The choice of language when typing texts on this model is carried out by the left key (key for accessing the phone book), the first three letters of the selected alphabet change accordingly, and then the choice of the T9 system for the English language. To be honest, it was quite easy to figure out the functions of the phone, despite the absence of instructions for the phone in my delivery kit. The representative of the company that provided the phone apologized and explained this by the fact that the provided device was the last one from the window. All phones of this model were very quickly dismantled by buyers. However, as far as I understand, Russian, but self-made instructions were supplied with the phones sold. A search for instructions on the web did not bring up anything other than a screen saver for Windows with a description of the function of this model. If someone has a link to the manual or it itself in electronic form, I would be grateful if you send it to me. The menu is accessed with the right button below the screen, where the word Menu is written. The main menu consists of two rows of icons, each of which is assigned a number for quick access. Each submenu also has a number, and you can quickly get to the required menu item by simply dialing the number sequence. But if you do not know it, then using the navigation key you can sequentially move through the menu. The navigation key has four directions in which you can navigate in the main menu. In some menus, only vertical or horizontal movement is available, as indicated by the arrows on the display. The menu is well thought out, and guessing where to be is not difficult. The localization of the menu is done quite acceptable, except for the ridiculous absurdities with the colors of the display backlight. The display of this model, in addition to different backlight colors, has other advantages. The large high-contrast graphical screen allows you to display up to 6 lines of information, including 4 lines of text and 2 lines of icons. The display contrast can be adjusted by the user. At the top of the display is a line of service icons, in which, in particular, there is a battery charge indicator (3 bars) and a signal strength indicator (4 bars). Unfortunately, on expensive models of this class, indistinct indicators have recently become the rule, not the exception. To a greater extent, this statement refers to the signal level indicator, which is very approximate. I agree that it is impossible to measure the field strength with this indicator, but with a larger number of divisions, it approximately gives an idea of the situation. If we are already talking about the sensitivity of the device, then I immediately want to note that it is on top. Nothing outstanding, but the phone provides average quality. Sometimes there is an echo effect with a weak signal in buildings, and also the person on the other end could not hear me. But such effects were rare, but in some places the loss of the network was quite constant and as a result the conversation was interrupted, and when the interlocutor tried to call me, for him I was offline, although the phone showed its presence. It is possible that this was a problem with a certain device, or I chose the wrong places to talk. Phones of other companies in the same places with the same SIM card for some reason worked, mysticism, and nothing more. But I can say for sure that I did not experience any inconvenience associated with poor communication quality (or its absence) when using the device. The sound quality is very good, the sound is soft and velvety, and the level is more than sufficient, which is probably due to the presence of a speakerphone. The phone book in the device allows you to store in memory not only the number and name, but also the postal address, and this is due to the fact that the GD92 allows you to work with e-mail. The phone memory capacity is 100 numbers in addition to the SIM card memory. For each phone in the book, a personal ring type, backlight color and pattern can be set. There are 10 drawings in total. The same settings can be made for caller groups that can be organized in a book. Recording new numbers is easy, and the fact that any number on the screen can be stored in memory makes life easier. E-mail works on the PPP protocol, and you can store up to 40 incoming and 10 outgoing messages. You get access to the mail settings in the messages menu, and there you can configure the reception and sending of SMS messages. But here everything is just very standard and simple, although if you wish, you can delve into the mass of settings and see what happens. Of the other functions of the phone, it is necessary to note the presence of a calculator and a currency converter, and if the latter, in my opinion, is not entirely convenient, then the calculator is very pleasant, although not ideal. The phone has the ability to set up to 4 alarms, which can work both once and every day. At the same time, either just a squeak or any melody from those presented in the phone can be used as a signal, which is very nice, since a nasty squeak is not always pleasant in the morning. In addition to the alarm, there is a convenient function to turn the phone on and off at a set time every day, which allows you to save batteries at night. The final touch on the watch is the ability to adjust it to two time zones and the ability to automatically correct the time. The format in which the date and time is displayed on the screen is easily changed. And now about the most interesting, namely the types of calls. There are 21 ring types at your disposal and you can choose the tone or melody to your liking. If nothing was to your liking, then you can create your own melody, but the number of melodies you have created cannot be more than three. In addition to creating a melody, you can simply record a greeting with your own voice or any melody from the phone's microphone, which will later be played as a call. Calls can be set to a certain volume, and a vibrating alert can be set simultaneously (continuous or intermittent operation). In addition to recording your speech or melody, you can save two voice memos of 15 seconds each in the built-in voice recorder. There is even a separate key on the side of the phone for this, which is especially convenient during a call. Also, during a conversation, beautiful pictures are displayed on the screen, informing about the connection status, which is especially convenient when you use the speakerphone. At the end, the call time is displayed. Conclusion Well, what can I say, the phone showed its best side, and in the absence of a user manual, the thoughtfulness of the menu helped a lot. In the field of sound control, the model is one of the best, a huge scope for creativity, creating your own melodies or recording voices (actually, any sounds - that's where the real scope is). The different colors of the display backlight are also very interesting. Having the ability to work with e-mail is rather a virtue, but in real life it is hardly necessary. The built-in speakerphone is a big plus as it allows you to free your hands for anything else. The battery is capacious enough to allow the phone to work without recharging for about 4 days. And a small weight of 78 grams is definitely a plus. I did not notice any cons as such in this model. Perhaps, for some, it will be the lack of software for synchronization with a PC, the absence of an IR port. This phone is very balanced in its capabilities and well thought out. A good choice for everyone who appreciates good things and at the same time wants to express himself as much as possible. After all, Panasonic GD92 gives you the opportunity for creativity, and individuality is so good. It's great when you hear an unfamiliar melody on someone else's phone, and these days it's such a rarity. Author: Eldar Murtazin See other articles Section Mobile Legends.
