EFFECTIVE FOCUSES AND THEIR CLUES What happened to the robbers? The Secret of Focus Directory / Spectacular tricks and their clues Focus Description: The magician reminds the audience about one of the previous tricks called "four robbersand promises to report their fate. Four jacks are dealt to the table and placed face down on top of the deck, which now serves as the "garden". They are separated: one jack goes south (to the bottom of the deck - the audience is shown that a jack is actually placed there); another goes east (this jack is inserted into the deck at a distance of two-thirds from the top), a third goes west (this jack is inserted at a distance of a third from the top of the deck), and the fourth goes north (this jack is shown to the public and left at the top of the deck ). Spectators portraying police officers remove the deck as much as they want. Finally, the deck is fanned out and it is discovered that all four jacks have gathered in the appointed place - in the local pub. Focus secret: This trick should only be performed if you have already successfully performed the Four Robbers trick. It complements "Four Robbers" well, but should not be performed if "Four Robbers" was shown after "jumping jacks", as suggested in the description of the trick. Three tricks in a row, based on the dexterity of four jacks, would be too much. 1. Start by reminding the audience of the success of the four jacks in the previous trick. Repeat to them that at the end of the trick, the three robbers remained on the roof, planning to escape down the fire escape and join their comrade, who was on guard in the garden. 2. Reminding the spectators of this, fan the deck and throw four jacks onto the table. When finishing your monologue, straighten the deck in your left hand and make a gap under the top two cards with your little finger. Pick up four jacks with your right hand and place them face up on top of the face down deck. At the same time, bring the gap to your right thumb and pick up the top six cards with your right hand (you now hold four face-up jacks in your right hand, followed by two face-down regular cards). 3. Using the technique described and illustrated in the Four Aces trick, flip the jacks onto the deck so that the top of the deck includes the sequence: jack, two common cards, jack, jack, jack. 4. Continue the story about the robbers. 5. “Now all four robbers are in our garden. Remember that then a policeman came into the garden down the street. Hearing the whistle of the robber on guard, he decided to blow his police whistle to call for help. So the four robbers decided to split up and leave each on their way. They agreed to meet at ten o'clock in a favorite place, in a remote part of the city in a night bar, where scammers of all stripes like to gather. So, one robber went to the south, which is always at the bottom of the map." Take the top card of the deck and place it down. This card is a jack, but I think it's best not to show it to the audience at this stage - they might want to see the next two. 6. "The second jack went east." Take the next card and place it one-third from the bottom of the deck. "The third goes west." The next card is placed one third from the top of the deck. "The last robber goes north, which is always at the top of the deck. Here he is, in the northern part of the city. Pick up the top card of the deck and show it to the public. This, of course, is a jack. 7. “So we have one robber in the north (show the card again), one robber in the south (show the audience the bottom of the deck, which actually contains the jack), and one each in the east and west (point to the center of the deck).” 8. Now place the deck face down on the table. "So our four robbers scattered in all four directions - north, east, south and west. The police, of course, looked for them everywhere." Choose someone from the audience and ask him to remove his cards. "Constable Charlie, would you take the cards? And you, policeman Lauren, Inspector Harry. Is Inspector Morsez here? And you, Sergeant William?" Ask everyone who wants to remove cards, but make sure they only perform normal removals and do not shuffle the deck. A normal withdrawal will not change the original order of the cards. 9. When they have all removed their cards, take the deck and quickly look at the bottom card. If it is a jack, then the jacks are divided: some are at the top, others are at the bottom - this will spoil the final effect of the trick. In this case, quickly put the deck back on the table, saying: “I forgot, because I am the Chief Constable myself, I must remove the cards.” Your removal will return the four jacks back to the center of the deck. But you shouldn't remove the deck unless absolutely necessary. 10. Alternatively, fan the cards face up so that the audience can see them. Say: “You will not be surprised that, despite all the efforts of the forces of law and order, four clever robbers got away and at the appointed time ended up in their favorite bar, planning their next case. Here they are, all four, as you can see.” Somewhere in the middle of the deck that you fanned out, there will be all four robbers - four jacks."
