A roof over your head is also needed for a four-legged friend who guards your house. This does not require special mansions, but the dog also needs shelter from the weather. And to build a kennel is available to any owner, and this does not require special skills, special tools or materials - just what is usually at hand is enough: boards, roofing material, nails, a hacksaw, a hammer.

So let's get started!

Kennel device

Four walls, a floor and a gable roof - that's the whole arrangement of a dog's home. As you can see, it is simple, as is the process of its manufacture. Judge for yourself.

Walls - shields knocked together from boards. For the side walls, the latter need to be cut to a length that would more or less correspond to the size of your four-legged friend when he is lying, and for the end walls - when he is curled up. The same applies to the height of the shield to be hammered together: it is desirable that it fits his height.

But the hole ("entrance" to the kennel) can be half the height of the dog - it will still squeeze through, but there will be less chance of rain or snow getting inside the kennel. For the same purpose, it is better to make the dimensions of the roof shields with an overlap, so that they noticeably overlap the main part of the kennel along the perimeter.

So, let's take a closer look at the main components of the kennel and their manufacture.

Doghouse
Combined kennel: 1 - polik; 2- shields of the main box; 3 - roof bracket; 4 - roof shields; 5 - ridge corner

Walls

It is better to start manufacturing by hammering together wall shields - then after assembling them it will be easier to adjust the dimensions of the roof and floor in place.

Those who had to send parcels in plywood boxes in the past, of course, will remember the peculiarity of their device: the frame bars there had in some places some shift from the edges of the walls, which made it possible to conveniently dock them into a box. The same principle is observed here: the kennels are vertical at the sidewalls, the frame bars are nailed strictly along the edge, and at the back and front walls - with an indentation by the thickness of the sidewall bars, where they enter during assembly, which facilitates its implementation and provides additional rigidity to the resulting box.

In the front shield, after hammering, a hole of the appropriate size is cut out, which is framed on the back side with additional bars (you can limit yourself to only vertical ones that are nailed to the sides of the hole).

After the manufacture of all four shields, they are knocked together, forming the main part of the kennel in the form of a box open from above and below.

Polik

Now we need to close the box. From below, this will be done by a polyk, the shield of which is knocked together in such a size that the already assembled box covers from all four sides. And the bars of the floor below will play the role of a kind of legs, thanks to which it will not come into contact with the ground and will be isolated from its moisture: it will always be dry in the kennel.

Roof

The roof will save the kennel from precipitation, which is knocked together so that it is put on the kennel box like a hat, even without additional fastening. The trick is that in addition to two inclined shields - roof slopes - it will be necessary to knock down two more peculiar triangular brackets for them: they are attached to the slopes at the ends and provide their support and the necessary slope.

The brackets consist of two boards fastened together at about 45°. At the back, this pair is connected by a horizontal board, which will just be the support of the roof when it is “put on” on the box of the kennel. After nailing the slopes and connecting them to the brackets, it remains to attach the ridge corner on top, which will close the gap at the junction of the slopes - and the kennel is ready.

Finish

The considered design is interesting in that it is practically collapsible. This is convenient for seasonal trips to the country, as well as, if necessary, to remove the kennel for storage for the winter.

Of course, such a structure does not require any special finishing, but the minimum necessary is still worth doing. First of all, it would be necessary to protect the tree from external influences by treating with drying oil, painting with oil paints or a special protective liquid such as Pinotex. This is at the discretion of the owner.

But what needs to be done is to cover the roof with something so that it does not leak in bad weather. There are also options here. If there is a sheet of tin of the required size, then you can upholster the slopes with it and paint it with oil paint. Roofing material is also suitable for this, roofing felt or, in extreme cases, unnecessary oilcloth, as well as a film that is used for greenhouses. It is only necessary for strength to fix them around the edges and in the middle with wooden slats.

It seems that the four-legged friend will be satisfied with such a housewarming.

Artificial leather for touch emulation 15.04.2024

In a modern technology world where distance is becoming increasingly commonplace, maintaining connection and a sense of closeness is important. Recent developments in artificial skin by German scientists from Saarland University represent a new era in virtual interactions. German researchers from Saarland University have developed ultra-thin films that can transmit the sensation of touch over a distance. This cutting-edge technology provides new opportunities for virtual communication, especially for those who find themselves far from their loved ones. The ultra-thin films developed by the researchers, just 50 micrometers thick, can be integrated into textiles and worn like a second skin. These films act as sensors that recognize tactile signals from mom or dad, and as actuators that transmit these movements to the baby. Parents' touch to the fabric activates sensors that react to pressure and deform the ultra-thin film. This ... >>

The attractiveness of caring men 14.04.2024

The stereotype that women prefer "bad boys" has long been widespread. However, recent research conducted by British scientists from Monash University offers a new perspective on this issue. They looked at how women responded to men's emotional responsibility and willingness to help others. The study's findings could change our understanding of what makes men attractive to women. A study conducted by scientists from Monash University leads to new findings about men's attractiveness to women. In the experiment, women were shown photographs of men with brief stories about their behavior in various situations, including their reaction to an encounter with a homeless person. Some of the men ignored the homeless man, while others helped him, such as buying him food. A study found that men who showed empathy and kindness were more attractive to women compared to men who showed empathy and kindness. ... >>

The moon is rusting 14.09.2020

Scientists at the University of Hawaii at Manoa have discovered signs of the process of iron oxidation on the Moon, where there is no water and air necessary for this.

The discovery of hematite on the moon has baffled experts because hematite is an oxidized form of iron that requires air and water to form.

In addition, the Moon is constantly bombarded by streams of the solar wind with hydrogen, which "gives" its electrons to materials, interacting with them. The researchers note that oxidation occurs due to the loss of electrons, so even if there were water and air on the Moon, the solar wind would prevent oxidation.

Hematite was discovered by scientists in data collected by the Indian orbiter Chandrayaan-1. The NASA Moon Mineralogy Mapper (M3) program uses images from the spacecraft for spectroscopic analysis, which gives insight into the mineral composition of the Moon's surface.
