In the 1880s, the body of a young girl was discovered in the Seine River. Fascinated by her beauty, the pathologist made a plaster cast of her face, which became famous. The stranger from the Seine was sung by many writers and poets, including Nabokov, her features were compared with the mysterious expression of Mona Lisa. In 1958, her face was used to make the widely replicated "Resusci Anna" artificial respiration training mannequin, which is why the Seine stranger is sometimes called the most kissed girl in history.
