Cybersecurity specialist Dan Petro has developed a software tool that can be used to easily restore "blurred" characters.

The idea of creating an algorithm came to an enthusiast after the IT company Jumpsec Labs launched a competition to decipher pixelated text. Although there are already solutions on the market that can improve pixel images of people or landscapes, they are not suitable for small characters like letters. Therefore, the specialist decided to create his own tool - and his idea was a success.

An open source algorithm called Unredacter is available for review. Publishing his brainchild, the specialist recommended that users no longer use pixelation or blur to hide information. According to him, the best way to protect will be black bars that completely cover the text.
