Artificial leather for touch emulation 15.04.2024

In a modern technology world where distance is becoming increasingly commonplace, maintaining connection and a sense of closeness is important. Recent developments in artificial skin by German scientists from Saarland University represent a new era in virtual interactions. German researchers from Saarland University have developed ultra-thin films that can transmit the sensation of touch over a distance. This cutting-edge technology provides new opportunities for virtual communication, especially for those who find themselves far from their loved ones. The ultra-thin films developed by the researchers, just 50 micrometers thick, can be integrated into textiles and worn like a second skin. These films act as sensors that recognize tactile signals from mom or dad, and as actuators that transmit these movements to the baby. Parents' touch to the fabric activates sensors that react to pressure and deform the ultra-thin film. This ... >>

The smallest mini PC from Smartvote 30.05.2013

There is a large selection of mini PCs that double as a TV box and connect to your TV. There are devices both monolithic and with an external Wi-Fi antenna, which solves the problem of poor reception in devices of this type. The dimensions of such devices exceed the dimensions of the "flash drive" several times. However, Smartvote has unveiled its Android 4.1 mini PC, which is more like a flash drive. The dimensions of the device are 68 x 29 x 12 mm, and the weight is 30 g.

The SmartCandy mini PC is based on the Rockchip RK3066 single-chip system, which includes a 9 GHz dual-core ARM Cortex-A1,6 processor. The amount of RAM is 1 GB, and the built-in flash memory is 8 GB (there is a slot for microSD memory cards). The device does not have wireless modules. This problem is solved by connecting an external Wi-Fi module (included) to the micro-USB port. Also included in the package is a micro-USB to USB adapter.

Interestingly, the manufacturer's website mentions slightly different specifications. Specified processor Telechips, clocked at 1 GHz, RAM 512 MB, built-in flash memory 4 GB, and OS Android 4.0.1.

The SmartCandy Mini PC is priced at $35. For an additional $3, you can purchase an external Ethernet module and a three-port USB 2.0 host controller connected via a micro-USB port.
