What diacritic began to be used as a decoration by rock bands?

The two-dot umlaut diacritic over the vowels Ä, Ö, or Ü changes the pronunciation of these sounds. However, many rock and metal bands decorate their name with an umlaut simply to make it more "Germanic" or "Scandinavian", as there is no phonetic change. The most famous examples of such bands are Motörhead and Mötley Crüe. Some collectives go further by placing the umlaut above unintended vowels (Queensrÿche) or above consonants in general (Spın̈al Tap).

What is the value of an orange dollar bill?

Now the largest of the US dollar denominations issued is 100 dollars. And from 1929 to 1945, notes were issued in denominations from $500 to $10, and even an orange $000 note specifically for payments between government agencies. They were no longer printed due to the development of the electronic payment system and to counter organized crime. Today, such bills are still in small numbers and may well serve as a means of payment in a regular store, although collectors will buy them for a much higher price.

Artificial leather for touch emulation 15.04.2024

In a modern technology world where distance is becoming increasingly commonplace, maintaining connection and a sense of closeness is important. Recent developments in artificial skin by German scientists from Saarland University represent a new era in virtual interactions. German researchers from Saarland University have developed ultra-thin films that can transmit the sensation of touch over a distance. This cutting-edge technology provides new opportunities for virtual communication, especially for those who find themselves far from their loved ones. The ultra-thin films developed by the researchers, just 50 micrometers thick, can be integrated into textiles and worn like a second skin. These films act as sensors that recognize tactile signals from mom or dad, and as actuators that transmit these movements to the baby. Parents' touch to the fabric activates sensors that react to pressure and deform the ultra-thin film. This ... >>

chicken broth for hypertension 17.07.2009

Physiologists from the University of Hiroshima (Japan) found that chicken broth lowers blood pressure. Moreover, for the healing effect of the broth, it is desirable to cook not white meat, but either the whole chicken, or legs and paws.

It turned out that these parts, rich in veins and cartilage, contain peptides (proteins with a short chain of amino acids) that can inhibit the action of a hormone that constricts blood vessels and thereby increases blood pressure.

However, for those who do not like chicken broth, according to the authors of the work, wheat, soybeans, salmon and sour milk, which contain similar substances, can also help.
