What car was developed by a group of 16 engineers, only two of whom had a driver's license?

The Swedish company SAAB was founded in 1937, but at first produced only military aircraft. After the Second World War, the company decided to enter a new market and start producing cars. The first prototype, called Ursaab, was developed by a group of 16 engineers. None of them had ever designed cars before, and only two had driver's licenses.

How did people discover the laws of heredity?

Every living being on our planet, be it an animal or a plant, produces offspring only of the same species to which it belongs. This happens precisely because of the operation of the laws of heredity. The foregoing does not mean at all that the offspring of two parents must necessarily resemble them in appearance, physical or mental development. These differences also follow from the laws of heredity. Each creature differs from others in an individual set of traits - signs of hereditary and acquired.

Hereditary traits are those that are formed in a given individual at the very moment when her life is born, and their source is within herself. The science of genetics deals with the study of all issues related to heredity. It began thanks to the work of the Austrian monk and scientist Gregor Mendel, who lived in the middle of the XNUMXth century.

In his garden, Mendel experimented on heredity in sweet peas. He found that a number of different factors affect in some way which offspring grow from seeds obtained from mature plants. At the time, however, Mendel could not establish the true nature of these factors. This was done by his followers, who called them genes.

Recognition of the truth of Mendel's teaching did not happen immediately. It was not until 1900, sixteen years after his death, that other scientists realized the importance of his discoveries. The rules formulated on the basis of these discoveries are called Mendel's laws.

Machine for thinning flowers in gardens 02.05.2024

In modern agriculture, technological progress is developing aimed at increasing the efficiency of plant care processes. The innovative Florix flower thinning machine was presented in Italy, designed to optimize the harvesting stage. This tool is equipped with mobile arms, allowing it to be easily adapted to the needs of the garden. The operator can adjust the speed of the thin wires by controlling them from the tractor cab using a joystick. This approach significantly increases the efficiency of the flower thinning process, providing the possibility of individual adjustment to the specific conditions of the garden, as well as the variety and type of fruit grown in it. After testing the Florix machine for two years on various types of fruit, the results were very encouraging. Farmers such as Filiberto Montanari, who has used a Florix machine for several years, have reported a significant reduction in the time and labor required to thin flowers. ... >>

Advanced Infrared Microscope 02.05.2024

Microscopes play an important role in scientific research, allowing scientists to delve into structures and processes invisible to the eye. However, various microscopy methods have their limitations, and among them was the limitation of resolution when using the infrared range. But the latest achievements of Japanese researchers from the University of Tokyo open up new prospects for studying the microworld. Scientists from the University of Tokyo have unveiled a new microscope that will revolutionize the capabilities of infrared microscopy. This advanced instrument allows you to see the internal structures of living bacteria with amazing clarity on the nanometer scale. Typically, mid-infrared microscopes are limited by low resolution, but the latest development from Japanese researchers overcomes these limitations. According to scientists, the developed microscope allows creating images with a resolution of up to 120 nanometers, which is 30 times higher than the resolution of traditional microscopes. ... >>

Air trap for insects 01.05.2024

Agriculture is one of the key sectors of the economy, and pest control is an integral part of this process. A team of scientists from the Indian Council of Agricultural Research-Central Potato Research Institute (ICAR-CPRI), Shimla, has come up with an innovative solution to this problem - a wind-powered insect air trap. This device addresses the shortcomings of traditional pest control methods by providing real-time insect population data. The trap is powered entirely by wind energy, making it an environmentally friendly solution that requires no power. Its unique design allows monitoring of both harmful and beneficial insects, providing a complete overview of the population in any agricultural area. “By assessing target pests at the right time, we can take necessary measures to control both pests and diseases,” says Kapil ... >>

LED strip for smart home Aqara LED Strip T1 25.08.2023

Aqara has unveiled its new Aqara LED Strip T1, designed to transform the interior of modern smart homes. This ribbon is capable of producing 16 million shades of color, integrates with Zigbee and Matter communication protocols, and is fully compatible with the Apple HomeKit platform. The company shared all the details of this innovation and announced the price of new items.

Aqara LED Strip T1 provides the ability to realize a variety of smart home scenarios based on lighting effects. It can be activated, for example, when the light level decreases according to sensors or when smart curtains are closed. To fully interact with other devices, you need an Aqara Zigbee 3.0 hub or a compatible device that supports the Matter protocol. Aqara LED strip is also compatible with the Apple HomeKit platform and allows you to control lighting using voice commands via Google Assistant or Alexa.

An important feature of Aqara LED Strip T1 is the ability to automatically adjust the color temperature of the luminaires thanks to the CCT (Correlated Color Temperature) function. For example, white light can gradually take on warmer hues in the evening, which contributes to a comfortable indoor ambiance.

The LED strip also has an RGBIC function - it is divided into 10 segments, which allows you to individually adjust the glow of each segment. In addition, thanks to the built-in microphone, Aqara LED Strip T1 is able to respond to the rhythm of the music, creating visual effects in time with the sounds. The LEDs on the strip are protected from dust in accordance with the IP44 standard, and the strip itself can be easily cut with scissors at the junctions of the 5-pin connectors.

Aqara LED Strip T1 is already available in China in packages including two meters of LED strip and a controller for $49.
