A desalination plant has been opened in London to obtain drinking water from sea water. Usually, dry southern countries suffer from a lack of fresh water, and such installations are often built there. But it turned out that London, standing on a large river, also needs an additional water ration.

The station takes brackish water from the Thames estuary, pushes it through special membranes with nanosized holes (water passes, salts get stuck) and supplies 570 million liters of drinking water to the water supply system per day.
