Where can I buy a figurine of the Pope celebrating a great need for Christmas?

One of the Christmas traditions of the Catalans is the production of the so-called kaganers - painted figurines of little men who relieve themselves of great need. One kaganer is necessarily added to the composition of the Nativity scene, the scene of the birth of Christ, and the Catholic Church does not object to this.

The figurines can depict not only ordinary residents, but also celebrities, including presidents and the Pope.

It is believed that folk satire embodies in the kaganers the concept of equality of all people, regardless of their social status.

How does a turtle breathe underwater?

Many turtles spend all or part of their lives in fresh water. They live in swamps, ponds, rivers, crawling out onto land to bask in the sun or lay their eggs. How do they breathe underwater? Turtles have lungs and they breathe air. These animals do not consume the oxygen in the water, as fish do. Therefore, they need to store oxygen in their lungs to stay underwater. Turtles cannot breathe by spreading their ribs like humans do because their ribs are tightly attached to their shells.

Turtles breathe in a different way. They have two rows of specialized muscles on their abdomen. One group of these muscles pulls other organs away from the lungs. Another group of muscles returns the organs to their place, while displacing the air. One deep breath of a turtle can keep it underwater for hours. Some freshwater turtles can stay submerged for several days without coming to land. This is because they use very little oxygen while lying on the bottom.

Some turtles have a special gasket in the throat or anus. This is the opening through which processed substances leave the body. Through the same hole, oxygen enters the body, as through the gills of fish. But these turtles are forced to go to land more often.

Soft-shelled turtles can breathe without crawling out from the bottom of shallow rivers and ponds. Their neck is long enough for their head to stick out into the air.

Machine for thinning flowers in gardens 02.05.2024

In modern agriculture, technological progress is developing aimed at increasing the efficiency of plant care processes. The innovative Florix flower thinning machine was presented in Italy, designed to optimize the harvesting stage. This tool is equipped with mobile arms, allowing it to be easily adapted to the needs of the garden. The operator can adjust the speed of the thin wires by controlling them from the tractor cab using a joystick. This approach significantly increases the efficiency of the flower thinning process, providing the possibility of individual adjustment to the specific conditions of the garden, as well as the variety and type of fruit grown in it. After testing the Florix machine for two years on various types of fruit, the results were very encouraging. Farmers such as Filiberto Montanari, who has used a Florix machine for several years, have reported a significant reduction in the time and labor required to thin flowers. ... >>

Advanced Infrared Microscope 02.05.2024

Microscopes play an important role in scientific research, allowing scientists to delve into structures and processes invisible to the eye. However, various microscopy methods have their limitations, and among them was the limitation of resolution when using the infrared range. But the latest achievements of Japanese researchers from the University of Tokyo open up new prospects for studying the microworld. Scientists from the University of Tokyo have unveiled a new microscope that will revolutionize the capabilities of infrared microscopy. This advanced instrument allows you to see the internal structures of living bacteria with amazing clarity on the nanometer scale. Typically, mid-infrared microscopes are limited by low resolution, but the latest development from Japanese researchers overcomes these limitations. According to scientists, the developed microscope allows creating images with a resolution of up to 120 nanometers, which is 30 times higher than the resolution of traditional microscopes. ... >>

Air trap for insects 01.05.2024

Agriculture is one of the key sectors of the economy, and pest control is an integral part of this process. A team of scientists from the Indian Council of Agricultural Research-Central Potato Research Institute (ICAR-CPRI), Shimla, has come up with an innovative solution to this problem - a wind-powered insect air trap. This device addresses the shortcomings of traditional pest control methods by providing real-time insect population data. The trap is powered entirely by wind energy, making it an environmentally friendly solution that requires no power. Its unique design allows monitoring of both harmful and beneficial insects, providing a complete overview of the population in any agricultural area. “By assessing target pests at the right time, we can take necessary measures to control both pests and diseases,” says Kapil ... >>

New Panasonic IP Dome Cameras 03.05.2014

Panasonic introduced the Panasonic 6 Series IP Dome Cameras. The novelties are capable of recording video in Full HD and HD, and also have a wide dynamic range (up to 133 dB), a face recognition function, a Super Chroma Compensation function that allows more accurate color reproduction even in low light, Panasonic told CNews.

According to the company, Panasonic 6-series IP cameras form high-quality and informative images with a resolution of 1920x1080 and 1280x720 pixels at a speed of up to 60 frames / s, equipped with IR illumination that operates at a distance of up to 30 meters. These cameras also have a fog compensation function, which has several levels of image correction and allows you to make it clearer in poor visibility conditions.

In addition to the updated IP cameras, Panasonic also introduced Panasonic's i-PROWV-ASM200 network device centralized management software. The software is designed to manage, monitor in real time and work with the archive of a video surveillance system built on network and digital recorders.

The company proposes to expand this software with a new function for suppressing noise caused by snow or rain (WV-ASE205), as well as supplement it with an analytical platform for face recognition (WV-ASE231), which provides the operator with ample opportunities to control the protected object. For example, it can provide a count of the number of people, determine their gender and approximate age, displaying relevant data and statistical graphs on the display.

Panasonic offers innovative solutions that are adapted to the Russian market, in particular, they take into account the specifics of equipment operation in difficult weather conditions. For example, our IP cameras are capable of operating at extremely low temperatures.
