Helicopter with muscle drive 12.11.2011

Students at the University of Maryland (USA) built a muscle helicopter, hoping to win the Sikorsky Prize. It is 250 thousand dollars, proposed in 1980 and will be issued to someone who, due to muscle strength, will come off the ground by a helicopter three meters (counting from the lowest part of the structure) and hang at this height within a square with a side of 10 meters at least 60 seconds.

So far, the highest achievement of the device is lifting a few centimeters in the gym and hanging in the air for 12,4 seconds. The helicopter has four screws, is built from the lightest materials and weighs 95,25 kilograms together with the pilot.

The pilot - student Judy Wexler, an experienced cyclist, worked with her hands and feet, developing a power of about one horsepower.
