Did you know?

What is the most famous comet?

Comets are bodies made up of rock fragments and frozen gases that evaporate near the Sun. These gases form a tail, which is visible in the sky with the naked eye.

Together, the comets of the solar system have a total mass less than the mass of the Earth. They fly at a speed of about 1200 km/h. And the most famous of them, of course, is Halley's Comet. It returns to the Sun and is observed every 76 years. It was first noticed 2500 years ago, and the last time - in 1986.

Artificial leather for touch emulation 15.04.2024

In a modern technology world where distance is becoming increasingly commonplace, maintaining connection and a sense of closeness is important. Recent developments in artificial skin by German scientists from Saarland University represent a new era in virtual interactions. German researchers from Saarland University have developed ultra-thin films that can transmit the sensation of touch over a distance. This cutting-edge technology provides new opportunities for virtual communication, especially for those who find themselves far from their loved ones. The ultra-thin films developed by the researchers, just 50 micrometers thick, can be integrated into textiles and worn like a second skin. These films act as sensors that recognize tactile signals from mom or dad, and as actuators that transmit these movements to the baby. Parents' touch to the fabric activates sensors that react to pressure and deform the ultra-thin film. This ... >>

The attractiveness of caring men 14.04.2024

The stereotype that women prefer "bad boys" has long been widespread. However, recent research conducted by British scientists from Monash University offers a new perspective on this issue. They looked at how women responded to men's emotional responsibility and willingness to help others. The study's findings could change our understanding of what makes men attractive to women. A study conducted by scientists from Monash University leads to new findings about men's attractiveness to women. In the experiment, women were shown photographs of men with brief stories about their behavior in various situations, including their reaction to an encounter with a homeless person. Some of the men ignored the homeless man, while others helped him, such as buying him food. A study found that men who showed empathy and kindness were more attractive to women compared to men who showed empathy and kindness. ... >>

Digitization - the next level of grain and soy production 26.10.2015

Jeremy Leifker, Product Strategy & Marketing Manager, John Deere Intelligent Solutions Group, delivered a presentation titled "Digitalization - the next level of grain and soybean production" at the Precision Agriculture Conference.

He talked about the John Deere Operations Center's new digital platform, which wirelessly connects agronomic data with machine data to facilitate real-time equipment fitting.

“A very important question: machines have learned to plow and harvest crops without human presence, controlled by satellite navigation, but how much are they able to do the intellectual part of the farm work?” says Leifker. “For the farmer, it all looks like this: I have to grow my crop, fertilize it protect it and collect it on time is my way of life.I have to put the seeds in the right place, at the right depth, at the right distance from each other, make sure it's the right hybrid and the right population. The equipment can improve the quality of this work .

But everything that accompanies this process is a zone of agronomic support. What grain? What population? What is the fertilizer application program? What chemical crop protection? This is an area where retailers and agronomists play a key role in decision making and come up with plans for the farmer.

What we are doing is trying to combine all these aspects so that decisions are made by a machine - at the push of a button."
