Marsupials form a special type of mammals. They differ from other mammals in the way they bear and care for their young. At birth, a baby kangaroo is barely 2,5 cm long and is not even fully formed. The tail and hind legs of baby kangaroos resemble small stumps. The eyes are closed and the ears are not shaped. The mouth of the cubs is just a hole. Only the front paws are well developed, with fingers and claws.

Barely born, the baby kangaroo begins to wade through the mother's fur to the hole in the bag on her belly. They are driven by instinct. Mother at this time licks the opening of the bag. Scratching with its front paws, the kangaroo still reaches the opening of the bag and looks out. Inside the bag, the newborn quickly finds the mother's nipples and begins to feed.

A small kangaroo stays in the bag for several weeks, hatches and develops there. He grows, becomes covered with wool, opens his eyes, his ears are formed. Finally, he comes off the nipples and jumps out of the bag. The cub leaves the bag at the age of several months, but if he is in danger at this time, he can immediately climb back into it.
